As a player who doesn't like having to travel to other zones until i have finished doing everything in my current zone (I'm still trying to finish everything in the Daggerfall Faction zones before i move over to questing in Aldmeri) I didn't like having to try and ask other people to help me get to these Almderi/Ebenheart zones because constantly people in chat just say "form a group or ask yuor guild" when the guilds i am on, no one was on. and as for the forming a group... how do i do that without asking in chat first? as i was doing.

the first time it took forever just to even get the wayshrines unlocked. now it's just tiring having to load from zone to zone to zone to zone to zone to zone non stop, and for what? only 9 boxes, well actually less because i get extremely bored after doing just 3 and then randomly get the same exact most tedious of the 9 quests the next day.

The halloween event was better. This one it just seemz ZOS is either knowingly trying to punish us more, or sadly think they were improving something but instead made it even more of a grind.

It's like... I imagine ZOS would be the kind of dev to make a game with a fight, but just before the fight it'll have a 10 minute long cutscene thaty also can't be skipped, and they place the checkpoint before the cutscene thinking they are doing us a favour with it incase we wanna see the scene again, and then resume the really hard fight.

That analogy is so crazy but makes so much sense :D

I like the feel of this event more, it feels more festive. I like the fact we go to specific locations, BUT it is a grind. Zenimax do seem to love to make you grind, even a bit of light hearted frivolity like this event they manage to turn into a grind.

If the quests were more in number and the grind was less, I think it would be more fun, but once you've jumped in the freezing water a couple of times, well, it's not exactly the stuff legends are made of. I can't see myself bothering to collect all the stuff from this one, whereas I did so from the Witches Festival because they managed to weave it into the game, so I ended up getting Plunder Skulls simply by doing what I normally do in game anyway. In the case of the New Life festival, I have to stop running dungeons etc., in order to light a few braziers, and the rewards and pleasure are simply not worth it to me in this case.

I would like New Life better than Witches Festival, if the golden recipe would drop at all. It´s the only thing I still need for the title but even after doing the dailies everyday on one to three characters I haven´t got it yet.
RNG is not a very good idea for this thing.

Its a Legendary drop. Just like the Runeboxes. Its not supposed to drop all the time. You still have a week plus to get it or buy it from one of this communities beloved Guild Traders.

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the effort that the devs went to in creating these quests, but my god do I find them mind numbingly boring. When I logged in the first day I was like ''I'm gonna do all these achievements and get that title on all 4 of my main characters!''

But after completing them on one character for 1 day I just found them incredibly tedious and a waste of my time. I'd much rather be running dungeons or something and have the chance of something dropping (like the skull plunders) while I'm actually doing something productive.

Then again you can't please everyone, I'm sure there are many who preferred the new life fesitval, but it just wasn't my cup of tea :)

Nothing is more boring than standing at a boss spawn point, or running between boss spawn points, trying to get plunder skulls.

That right there makes New Life Festival better that Witches Festival.

    Okay?

But you didn't HAVE to camp bosses or run between their spawn points to get plunder skulls. You could just run pledges, level your undaunted, level some skills on an alt by doing dungeons and get plunder skulls passively in the process.

The New Life festival forces you to complete grindy quests with no other alternative. Witches festival gave players the option to run dungeons, play casually and explore delves, or camp bosses.

The fact that you were doing Witches Festival stuff as an aside to normal game play was cute, but it was also part of the reason that Witches Festival wasn't really a festival. That is another point in favor of New Life Festival, since we are comparing them to each other.

So it's more of an RP thing then? I can't relate since I'm not that much into the RPing but fair enough

As an RPer, I found the New Life Festival annoying too. To me, that's not a 'festival' as it didn't drag any of us together after the first day because we simply seen the scope of things. We had more fun during the Witches' Festival.

They both had good points and not so good points. I liked the Witches Festival because of the ability to restart the extra xp gain wherever I was. I liked that I was able to do whatever I wanted and still be a part of it. I did not like the skeleton costume. I liked the New Life Festival because it did not make me wear a costume that everyone else had to wear if they wanted to participate and the quests were not bad the first couple of times. I decided early on that I would only complete the New Life Festival on one character, instead of on as many as I could like I did for the Witches Festival. I do not like having to renew the extra xp gain by going to a specific location, or that it stops if you log out forcing you to go there first thing if you are wanting to use it. I do not like timed anything, so those quests are super boring for me. I liked the title for the Witches Festival, but I do not like the title for the New Life Festival. I like that we got a new color for the New life Festival, but not getting one for the Witches Festival was kinda lame. They are not going to make everyone happy every time, but I hope that as time goes on that these nice little events just get better and better.

Each zone has a navigator NPC now. They'll allow transit to the previous, and next maps in the same alliance, and the equivalent maps in the other alliances. So, for instance, the navigator in Windhelm will take you to Shadowfen, The Rift, the Alik'r, and Malabal Tor. Once you're there, you'll be next to that zone's navigator. You can also find Boatmen who will take you along other, connected paths. For example from Wayrest to Sentinel, or from Daggerfall to Stros M'kai and Betnikh. With a little bit of practice it is possible to get wherever you need to be, now. Though sometimes you will need to run around in a zone before you can finish the daily.

I dont like Witches Festival for you was just basically stand and camp a dungeon boss and kill it over and over again until you got every achievement done that is one of most lame thing you can do for event thing. But the New Life is alot better here you really need to go around and do thing yes it is samething over and over again but you dont stand around camp boss.

Event like this you should kill something to get item you need to complete event quest of all the mmo/mmorpg i have been play in New Life event is one of best in way of really odd you need to do and some off then is fun as well.

I prefered the new life festival over the witches festival, because it was less tedious to get it on all my chars. It was a straightforward quest line where you could get almost all achievements in one round. The rest (still needed recipes, motifs etc.) I got by purchasing in guild stores.

Getting 100 of those skull tokens on all on my chars at the witches festival ? ...my that was boring.

XP boost drink tied to a single spot is what ruined it for me.
Also, single style mat drop from a box is a bit too low if you ask me. I have about 350 so far, and I don't think I will get more, since I am very bored atm by the event.

It is a nice idea, but repeating it over and over and over and over again made me want to crawl under a desk and drink while crying like a Breton that lost a penny.

From this perspective, I can say that I enjoyed Witches festival more. I grinded dolmens, earned coin selling purple jewelry, got all skills leveled on few alts and FG too. But both events were fun no matter what, I do hope we get more of these in the future, too.

If I was to suggest how future events could be made:
    1. Make introductory quests such as these 9 quests from New Life Festival.
    2. After each of those quests, you get a few consumable Mementos specific to that particular quest that may or may not change your appearance when used (Colovian Fur Hat or Nordic Towel come to mind).
    3. There is an NPC for each of those different quests with Event items on sale, some of which are only available from that specific NPC, including a permanent Memento that can be bought with tokens.
    4. Each of those 9 Mementos (consumable or permanent) will grant you an XP buff for two hours, and you will get different loot boxes from killing bosses depending on the type of Memento used.
    5. These loot boxes are a combination of one of 9 different tokens plus items that are included in that specific NPC vendor. So, even if you are unlucky in obtaining an item, you can activate a particular buff that will let you collect tokens as currency to buy it, and all you need to do is kill some bosses for it.
    6. To make things even more interesting, there should be one PvP NPC along with loot boxes for that NPC granted inside the Rewards for the Worthy mails.

I like parts of both, but I hope the next one will be a combination of the two.

    Witches Festival -
    What I liked:
    1. The buff that you could just reapply from your collections screen.
    2. Being able to run around the world from dolmen to delve with many to choose from, having a choice in where I go and whether I wanted to run around or stay put at just one for a while.
    3. Decent drop rate for motif pages. No worry that I wouldn't get them all by the end of the event.
    4. Because I could go anywhere to participate, I was able to do the event on a low-level alt.

    What I didn't like:
    1. Forced skeleton polymorph.
    2. Not really any quests tied to the event besides the first couple to start it.

    New Life -
    What I liked:
    1. Actual quests. Most were fun and gave an interesting bit of flavor to each race.
    2. Like the other event, decent drop rate for motif pages.

    What I didn't like:
    1. Everyone having to go to the same spot for everything. Too crowded, lag, etc.
    2. Repeatable quests, while fun at first, got old after the first few days of doing them on 2 characters. Way too much running back and forth. If it was maybe 5 quests, it would have been more tolerable over and over again. For some reason, 9 seemed like a lot.
    3. Buff required traveling back to keg every couple hours. If I was in the middle of something and not near a wayshire when it dropped off, I didn't bother interrupting what I was doing, so I tended to forget about it and not have the buff on most of the time.
    4. I attempted to do the event on a low-level alt, but travel time to get to all of these undiscovered places was just too much (gave me a new appreciation for the size of the world though!). I didn't want to bother people to ask for ports to every location, and sitting there waiting to see if guild members were in these locations so I could port to them without bothering them only worked a couple of times. I gave up on doing the event on my baby alt.

What I hope happens for the next one:
    1. Repeatable quests (but not as many) combined with the ability to get items from dolmens/delve bosses to mix it up a bit. Multiple quest givers (maybe one for each faction) to avoid a huge crowd.
    2. Buff that doesn't require you to go somewhere specific to refresh.

@gard There is not. The closest might be the Fish Boon Feast achievement, wherein you have to catch five of each fish...but even that's doable in one sitting because you don't have to stop fishing once you get the three you need. Witches Festival-
-Double XP was a whistle away and the effect didn't go away every time I logged out, forcing me to travel to a set location to trigger again like the mead.
-World boss fights are more enjoyable then traveling to set areas where the performances don't work properly and when they do, you look like a fool instead of a monster slayer.
-Plunder Skulls dropping on defeat of a boss is better then having to travel to an area to retrieve a present.

I couldn't even finish the quests because of the 'kill X things in a small area' quest that everyone was doing at the same time. The quests were stupid anyway, so I ended up buying a couple of the motifs and the mud ball pouch.

Personally I didn't like it, I liked that you got to keep the memento but the buff from it was lazy design in my opinion. Since all you had to do was summon it and click there really wasn't a point introducing it as a buff in the first place.

I liked the "disguise as buff" for several reasons:

it mimic-ed the "dress up and trick or treat" idea

It then became a useful memento as the costume aspect of it was well done - great tails!

For me, it added to the theological underpinnings of the event - meant to do a thread about this at the time, but never did. Basically I saw the "Witches" as recruiting people to help take advantage of the "end of the year" to connect some of the life that is Tamriel to the realm of "death" (normal death, not vestige death) In an attempt to combat Molag Bal.

    I loved it.
I stopped doing the quests after I got the bath towel. Skinchanger motif looks cool but the chance ill ever craft anything but training gear for a new char is negligible. The new legendary fish recipe sounded cool but turned out to be useless.

I have yet to get the "bath towel" but got a couple of the fuzzy hat thingie. Maybe I'll meet someone in-game who has the opposite and we can trade.

To me, that's not a 'festival' as it didn't drag any of us together after the first day because we simply seen the scope of things. We had more fun during the Witches' Festival.

    Hmmm....

    I wonder.

Maybe in a future event, the crowd can throw coins (or weird little things akin to the breathmints or the "turn the world a pretty color" grog) that could be based on how many participants are dancing/singing or whatever.

I enjoyed both but I only participate when in the mood to do so. I don't understand why anyone would grind content they don't enjoy.

As for skeleton poly in the witch's event. It actually gave me a reason to use the disguises that I had been hoarding in order to cover it up.
