when i made my 1st character back at xbox launch, i make a ginger khajit with a mohawk
after being bitten by a vampire her fur obioulsy became (almost) white and her hair became dreadlocks
after curing her of her 'affliction' she had blonde hair (same tabby pattern) and her hair remained as dreadlocks

i had photographic evidence and contacted support & they apologised syaing there was nothing they could do

when the hair pack came to crown store i hurredly bought her, her old hair (she's become accustomed to the blonder fur) but every time i change zones her hair reverts to dreadlocks, her piercings vanish & she looses her hair band :(

If this is true then you absolutely should not accept their answer of there's nothing they can do.

You paid for this product. You are legally entitled to it in good working order. This isn't that.

If you're inclined to be generous and give them another opportunity, lodge another CS ticket. If not or if they don't fix it, lodge a complaint with BBB. They have no legal authority but are good at negotiating resolutions to problems like this. If that doesn't work, lodge a complaint with your local consumer protection agency or small claims court.

seems like a lot of effort over what is now a crafter/mule!
btw i have no idea what BBB means

Completely agree that there should be a timer at the very least. Every other game I have played has allowed at least 24 hours after character creation to make changes because they never look the same once you are in the game.

The last character I made I had to delete multiple times. (And also if they aren't going to make any changes to the current system I wish they would increase the amount of deletions one can make without waiting!)

Hi, here are the pics as promised and bear with me if they don't turn out as I hope they do as it's my first time posting pics. First 3 are from the creator:

This one is how she turned out and required a further appearance token to even get her to look somewhat similar to the one in the creator. Still a poor effort, though:

What the shadows are actually hiding are large puffed out cheeks at the back. Eyes, no idea what happened in the pic (do they blink in the select screen?). In game, she looks a sexy 60 year old, if that makes sense, even though I had to put her age thing right down otherwise she was coming out looking like she had hauled bricks around all her life and smoked 60-a-day. That's actually a vast improvement believe it or not. I'm still scratching my head why I wasted 4000crs on this.

In-game she has massive lips when looking side on and it's why I took the side shot. She looks as if she's had 5 sessions of lip filler and suffering from trout pout. Her lips barely protrude side on in the creator.

The problem everyone here is describing can be summed up in just a few points as the causes.

    1) Character creation uses the highest level of detail for graphics regardless of what you actually have your graphic settings set at in game. This is the equivalent of going past "ultra" settings and manually editing the usersettings.txt file and adjusting the following to "-3"

    SET MIP_LOAD_SKIP_LEVELS "-3"

    2) The lighting used in character creation is the same lighting that you see on your character when you open your inventory (when your character spins around) This lighting effect is used NO where else in the game and is a very even lighting which means no harsh shadows. You also have no option to permanently turn it on all the time.

Those two areas above are the cause of each problem described in this thread.

I have this setting done in my usersettings.txt. Sometimes characters look way different, even when shadows are taken into account. But I do think you're on to something here. As my issues haven't been as severe (well not severe enough to reroll a character over) as those posted.

Sucks though for the console users. They don't have access to that option in their settings, nor could their hardware support it if they did.

To be honest, I think this has less to do with the problem then the over-ultra settings you described above. I've this issue with shadows myself. But as I said above, its not enough to actually warrant a reroll on even a brandnew character.

However there is a third issue I wanted to bring up.

When you're making a character and adjusting the Chest Slider. Make sure you have Novice Armor on. There is very little difference between all the way left and 3/4s of the way to the right. But if you put on clothes, they become very flattering to say the least, when you have it above the halfway mark.

This is of course a female character issue, but I'd imagine male characters would likewise have a similar if less noticeable issue. ESO isn't the only game that has this issue, I've seen it in EQ2 when you get petite elves in some robes and they get well endowed from it. Bad thing there, is I don't think they have sliders lol.

I bring this up since its one you can account for by just previewing with armor on. And I've actually had to reroll a character a few times for it. Its really easy to see how large or small it is with the newbie sorcerer armor. Just remember to change back to the preferred class (thats why it took me two rerolls lol).

I had the same issue with my latest character, a Dark Elf, and the skin colour. The final result was far darker skin colour than I had in the character creation screen. I had noticed my other characters facial features seemed to look more 'default', or somwewhat generic, after creation but had put it down to me not putting enough time into their creation -maybe I was wrong.

spent all day looking for this link - I have this experience with nearly every RPG that has come out in the last 10 years, give or take a few statistical exceptions...

It's a problem with most games that have nice looking character creators these days. WWE 2KXX, ESO, GTA Online, Dragon Age Inquisition especially. I spent over an hour tweaking my character and once the game starts they look like a wax dummy with grease paint smeared all over them.

These games often use completely different set of models, materials, shaders and lighting in the creators.

I've had lots of trouble with my ESO characters and recently deleted all my new PS4 ones. In some cases it looks like they are using completely different morph targets. My tough looking character with a slight frown in the creator enters the game looking like a sad, bloated, gold fish with a huge frown. (And I had the same issue on the PC).

You know I just changed the race of my char also. I had the same thing happen - bloated cheeks, totally different face than I chose. I'm pretty disappointed by it obviously but was beginning to accept it. Then I saw this thread so I figured I would share.

    You're not alone in this.

Holy crap. Exactly this with the cheeks. Now I want a refund

Sorry, that was silly of me. I should have linked.

BBB is Better Business Bureau. They're an independent group who accept consumer complaints and try to help resolve problems like this. They have no authority of any kind but can help. And if they can't and think you have a genuine beef with the company then they'll point you in the direction of someone who does have authority that you can complain to.

There's little effort involved. Copy paste what you said here about your problem and include the CS ticket number from when you complained about it. Also a copy of their response. And your screenshot evidence.

I can understand your writing the character off as a mule - we all have to use characters for that anyway - but you shouldn't have to accept this bug and you might not be the only player affected by it. Your complaining could get it fixed for others too.

Hahaha, that sums it all up.

@AsteriaStarfall Thanks for explaining all that.

I think a timer to tweak appearance would be good. For a few hours you get one chance to change a few things.

I used a race change token on one of my characters and accidently made him too short. I noticed immediately once I stood next to an npc.
    Very annoying.
