Should ZoS take a side in the PVP vs PVE debates?

Currently there is a heated debate between PVE players and PVP. Regardless of which side your on, the animosity levels are way too high for a game.

So a simple question: Should ZoS get involved and separate the two sides for the good of everyone, or continue to sit quietly as their customer base tears itself apart?

I've played games where the two were pretty seperate, and the same kind of animosity between the two player groups was still there.

Aye, that would make perfect sense. I suspect like any legit dev/business and regardless of how we the players perceive things to be, they will actually take pride in all the aspects of their product.

Or they could all but put an end to the feud and balance PvE and PvP SEPAPATELY!!!

If they did that then PvE'ers couldn't care less when PvP'ers call for nerfs to destro ult or proc sets. But I guess that just makes too much sense.

There's nothing they can do so it's pointless posturing. You're naive if you think PVE vs PVP or A vs B is not a reality for any game that allows players to divide themselves in to groups.

No one hates anyone just for playing more pvp or pve, my guild itself keeps both type of players.

I think you are vastly overestimating the animosity between PvE and PvP players. Sure, there is a little tension, but that's mostly related to balance changes, since what balance changes affect one also affect the other. But it's not a gigantic, playerbase-wide all-out brawl that's somehow destroying the game.

You can get some animosity going from certain members of the community directed at one group or the other. I wouldn't go so far as to say it's an actual schism though. Just, some individuals are bugnuts.

Yeah that's fair, I didn't mean to imply that there are no loose cannons flying around and firing hot lead, more that these tend to be isolated incidents rather than any kind of battle between warring tribes.

There shouldnt even be a debate period. This how you fix one without breaking the other. Let me use Hardened Ward as an example:

"ability text here....shield for 20 seconds. This duration is reduced to 6 seconds in PvP"

PvP is restricted to Cyrodiil, IC, and duels. so code your *** to have one effect in those zones, and the other effect in PvE.

Didnt WoW do this?

I'm pretty sure that the OP is trying to turn this thread into a self-fulfilling prophesy by inspiring tension between the PvE and PvP sides of the playerbase in this thread.

Simple terms:

The PVE people dont wanna PVP for vigor or caltrops and their not doing PVP for the single player quests.

The PVP people arrent doing dungeons for any other reason than undaunted level and likely never do dungeons again after.

The people who do both will do both reguardless of what changes occur.

It only makes everyones lives better to put these two in seperate boxes.
