skipped on the frost wolf to get the elk, but now I can't since I only had 3000 crowns.. Boy do I feel like a *** now..!

This 'dont buy, no problem' is a thick skulled solution for McDonalds employees. Overpriced crown store junk that is poorly thought out is just disrespectful to us all, how long have we been bringing this up? They don't care. Watch them change the color to black and charge again.

Won't be buying it. I suggest others do the same if they feel the value isn't there for the money.
That will send a much louder message to whoever sets the price on clown store items.

Since a mammoth is composed of many more pixels than an elk, and people are happily shelling out 4500 crowns for an elk, the mammoth price can easily be justified at 8,000 crowns.
And since DLC is composed of much more than just a mammoth mount, I'd expect the next DLC to ring in around 20,000 crowns.

When is the last time ZOS did something nice or mindful for the community? Remember when they put the wedding dress for 50 percent off?

Over a year now, I've watched the crown store economy degenerate to an utter cash grab.

Costumes used to be 3 in a pack for 700 once upon a time.

Crown store prices are just plain weird. It's like someone thinks that selling 100 things at $30 is more profitable than selling 1000 at $10. It's not like this elk even has a production cost associated with it that makes $30 the correct price point. The pricing is arbitrary and attracts a much smaller number of potential customers than more sensible pricing would.

I just can't wait to see what they think the crown store exclusive island home should sell for.

Agreed. 2500 crowns is the max I will pay for a mount.

it would be nice to know if zenimax is planning any visual upgrades to the elk like all other mounts have.

if this is an early access to an incomplete item, then it is way too expensive. if this is a final release as is with no visual upgrades to the elk, then, why is this thing so much expensive? there must be a reason. are they billing more for the horns? O_o

When I heard about this mount for the first time, I started saving my Crowns for it. I was waiting for 22th to finally buy it, and then...

I saw the price. 4500(!) Crowns. ZOS, are you serious?

I thought this mount will cost something around 2500 Crowns. It's good price for mount like this. But 4500? This is more than cost of DLC!

when they announced housing was going to be a free update. I much rather want zenimax to overprice vanity items than actual content.

I know Tamriel is made up, and I know what people in North America call "Elk". When I look at that picture that altemriel linked, I would say it was a moose, but I am also aware that people also call them Elk, that is all

I was expecting it to be 5000 crowns, so I'm actually quite happy. I've not spent a penny on crown crates, and my 3 month sub recently renewed - so I'm happily riding my elk mount today.

I do think the price tag on the Elk is too high. It is an interesting and new mount creature. I get that. But they needed to have it priced lower. I can see having a 4k price on something super crazy interesting like the expoloding out of nowhere kitty mount. This Elk does not do that. I noticed the jump movement was interesting, but not 4.5k interesting. If I was rolling in crowns right now, maybe I would still consider getting it. But I'm not. And its Christmas time. My dollars should be spent on my kids, not on getting myself a fancy new mount.

That is a Moose. Just because your ancestors hunted their Elk to extinction and now go around calling anything with horns from the Alces genus an Elk, doesn't make it so.

I know you're generalizing but I do think you may have misunderstood something.

The post isn't saying that mounts shouldn't be for sale via crowns. I thin that is fine.

I'm saying:

-nothing for sale in the crown store should ever exceed the ESO plus crown amount. So nothing should be above 1500

-the in-game awards for cosmetic items should aesthetically be on par with crown only items

I think you misunderstood what he isn't saying. Some were willing to shell out big crowns for an atro mount but didn't like the crate idea of gambling for it.

Additionally, what is your justification for limiting prices to what one gets for one month's subscription?

ecomonic and marketing modeling determine the. Set price to sell something at. Not those of us on the forums. It's absurd to suggest limiting the price of something in the crown store based on what we get for a monthly sub.

I suggest taking a basic economics class and learn how pricing should be. Zos could care less about the feedback in this thread as they know how items sell at various prices and what works best. Good logical way to run a business.

What's funny is those upset about this are just proving Zos is right. Design something many want and set the price accordingly. See the bank account enlarge.

Well you could always spend $30 on some decent alcohol and get a false sense of well being that usually lasts longer than buying anything off the CLOWN store.
