In all seriousness, don't buy it if you don't have the money or don't agree with the price. You're wasting your own time complaining about it. First, the blue cat mount, then the crown crates, now the elk. It's all cosmetic items. It doesn't do anything other than make your character look "cool". If you really want it, buy it, but don't complain about cosmetic item prices. It's just silly.
I'm just glad this game isn't going P2W. That's what makes it a great game.
Meanwhile, at ZOS: "Remember those times when hundreds of our devs created expansion packs like Orsinium with dozens of hours of new content and lands to explore, and we charged 3000 Crowns for them? Turns out we can get away with charging 50% more for 100000000000% less! Players will literally spend anything we ask on a single mount!"
Is this REALLY the message you want to send to ZOS? Dro-m'Athra mount, Crown Crates, and now this Elk, are testing the waters. Use your wallet to vote for the content you want them to work on. They won't look at the forums to make these decisions, they'll look at their quarterlies and their profit margins.

Sub and save crowns?
I've got like 27,000 of them hanging around. Or pick up crowns on sale?
I get that the price is high, that's not a debate. 4,500 crowns for a mount is certainly excessive. But they wouldn't charge it if people weren't paying it.

I admit that I never watch your videos, but 4500 Crowns is a big issue in the game for you? If that is the case, then you might want to consider that you are about to make a positive review of ESO.
Another person made a similar comment when talking about the size of the elk legs, and it made me stop to think. With the lag, and the disconnects, and the hangs, and Cyrodiil performance, and procs, and Crown Crates, and all of that, it turns out to be 4500 Crowns for an Elk mount that really gets you going?
If true, that, by itself, says volumes about how good the rest of the game is.
Now, I am not saying that I approve of the price. I have not purchased the Great Elk. I am just saying that when I stack the 4500 Crown price up against the whole game, it isn't even close to the dislike I have for the Crown Crates. At least the 4500 Crown price is an honest, if inflated, price.

It's because the most important thing in the world to some people, whale types mostly, is the ability to rub exclusivity in the faces of others, lord it over them, and feel better about themselves because of it, as if they had actually accomplished something.
"Wow dad, you blow your paycheck in Vegas so good! We're all so proud of you!"
It doesn't matter if it is a titanium pile of bantha poodoo. So long as they are the only ones that have it somehow they think it is valuable enough to blow money on.

I don't think I will ever understand that mentality. But I don't think I am the intended demographic for this game anymore.

This is bothering me very much. It really makes no sense to price it so high and not even give it visual upgrades like all other mounts have.
Unless they are planning...
A HORSE* ARMOR DLC
[Oblivion flashbacks]
*And other kinds of mount.

On a serious note thoughIs this really the very first mount that has come with no upgrades? I assumed it was, but someone who has been here longer than me might know more.

The community just got smacked.
People always say "if you don't like it leave." Not a chance. That would be a reward for ZOS's greed.
Think about it. I would rather cancel my sub, use my remaining crowns to buy the 2 DLC's I don't already own, never buy anything again, and play for free, eating up their server power costing them money in maintenance and personnel while they get nothing in return.
Leaving would just save them money.
Screw that. They deserve to lose their backsides for the direction they've taken.
Well wasn't it too long a go you were all bitching about those atro mounts hidden behind the crates that you all wanted in the crown store and were willing to pay 5000 crowns for? If this mount was in a crate you would ***
