I know it's nothing people are forced to buy and I behave accordingly. Here's the gripe tho

There is little to nothing highly cosmetically appeasing that's attainable outside of real money.

    Sub and save crowns?

I've got like 27,000 of them hanging around. Or pick up crowns on sale?

I get that the price is high, that's not a debate. 4,500 crowns for a mount is certainly excessive. But they wouldn't charge it if people weren't paying it.

And here's the thing. I'm not saying don't offer that stuff but here I am a person who does buy crowns monthly either be it from ESO plus (Xbox issues aside) and when crowns are on sale I'll buy at least 5k if not more.

I play tho to complete stuff. I'm not a completionist but ya know after doing all the original quests in the three factions and guild quests up until the last paid dlc DB.....you'd think that the rewards would cosmetically outweigh any paid content.

So I do expect crown items to be awesome but how dumb was it that the three hero costumes was crown only and not a reward for getting the hero title upon completing quests.

......I think I'm getting to that $&@-it point.....

    A couple of thoughts.

An old thought is that the higher the price, the less of them we will see in the game. I like scarcity in mounts. When I see one like this, I think it should be unusual and not common. The atro mounts are way too common, so I am hoping that people get bored with them. Anyway, high price means fewer of them in the game, more special when you see one.

A new thought is to just be glad they are not in Crown Crates, where 4500 Crowns would look like a deal for half, or more, of the people who try to get them.

I'm surprised someone didn't make this thread earlier, the price was leaked yesterday on reddit. 20 dollar mount if the crowns were purchased on sale. I probably wont get it, but that depends on how many I see out and about.

But I don't think most of us can complain. We complain about crown crate mounts, and how we should be able to buy them for a set price, whatever that price is. Well here is this price, and it's not a gamble.

I was shocked at the price, just logged in to check. Was expecting 2500 - 3000. I'm gonna have to think about this. I haven't ruled it out but it's a lot of money to me for a virtual elk when my Mum just picked me up Dishonored 2 for 20 pounds.

2,500 shiny coins would have been the limit for this one. Price too high and lose the sale yes.

Admittedly, if I had a character that needed it to have their concept complete, I would most likely get it.

But since the character I had in mind just "sorta fits", I would only get it if it was for the standard limited time price (2500). Next!
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

Agreed. There are things that I would love to buy, but it's simply not worth the money.

I, and many others, will make an exception, though, if they were to offer dragon pets / mounts.
I don't care for the lore. There are more things in this game that make no sense either, so why not make that exception too?
    If lore's really that important:
"Necromancers attempted to revive dragons once more, and finally succeeded." Make a quest around it that people can purchase with crowns and the reward is a young dragon mount. One that's still too young to fly, but big enough to ride.

Just do it ZOS, and watch the river glow in gold.

It is a cool mount. I would definitely spend 4500 Crowns on this, just based on what I see in the preview. It will be interesting to see how it performs in the game. They can always ruin it with some dorky animation or sound, like they did with one of the wolf mounts.

My problem is that I buy mounts for characters, not just to have the mount. I have a couple of mounts that I just bought for the sake of buying, the Ice Horse being one, and I don't use them like I thought I would. I decided that if I do not have a character that will immediately use the mount, I don't buy it. I have no characters that will use an Elk mount, not that I don't wish I did.

This will return only in Crown Crates, so once I decide to not have the mount, it is a Forever Decision. I don't expect this will change my decision, but before Crown Crates, I never had to think about it. It is possible that this is why they priced it at 4500 Crowns, but seriously, this mount looks pretty cool.

I budgeted 3000 Crowns, with the expectation it would only be 2500 like the other limited mounts, and I was really excited and couldn't wait until it was released. But not at this price tag, forget that!

I have over 6000 Crowns in my account from the subscription, so it's not that it's not affordable. I just don't see the point of wasting Crowns like that.

I guess I will wait to see the costs of the Crown housing next. And those will probably be 50,000 Crowns a pop and I will just cancel my subscription and use my stockpiled subscription Crowns to buy the DLCs in case I still want to play with friends?

I don't know, I am at a loss here. I run a guild, I love my guild, they are why I still play because I don't want to let them down. But I don't know how much longer I can keep playing at the rate things are dialing up here.

I understand that ZOS is a business, and they are here to make money. I don't fault that! But when it's this obvious that management is putting so much effort into squeezing the playerbase for every last penny in every possible avenue...

That's not fun. That's not a game to me. That's a giant flashing neon Danger sign.

There are no young dragons. They simply exist.

Dragons are basically gods. Unless you are a Dragonborn who knows how to shout in dragon language - there's no way you'd get to ride one.

    @lordrichter

I personally disagree with both ideas you shared below.
Specifically: the idea that a higher price means less will be in the game. That's proven not to be accurate.

The idea that at least it's not in crown crates. Crown crates are a terrible way to offer paid content regardless of type

I have absolutely no issue with ZOS charging for stuff. I have a specific issue with the chosen price points in context to the actual game, dlc and what isn't available. I'd even thrown in ESO plus cost because the actual concept behind ESO plus crowns are to give players who choose to sub the opportunity to save crowns and buy either cosmetic things or consumables.

Here's the reality of it all.
1500 crowns is below ALL of that. So while you can argue that a player should save up crowns....that's a very bad argument.

Let's look at the pay for items and their values of which a ESO plus subscriber or a person who just buys crowns every 3-6 months will see.

    5k crowns for motifs
    4-5k crowns for mounts
    1500-5k crown crates
    1200-5000 crowns for costumes

Basically it's set for a 90 day accumulation which requires one to also purchase a bulk of crowns during a sale

This stuff is 100% non-accessible otherwise less motif.

The game was a cost of $15/month
Now it's on average $30/month for a player who occasionally may buy a few things here and there

Someone who may decide to just play and sub is cut off from 75% of limited items due to a lack of accumulation.

Prob time to Move on but just pointing out the greed model. This has nothing to do with funding devs. because by logic if it was, then we would have content rolling out.

We've had recycled content and a few dungeons, a small DB and TG dlc in almost one year and in Feb well see housing which isn't dlc. It's actually another crown initiative

Nothing in the crown store should ever exceed the monthly sub cost. That's just the basic math of it all. And ppl saying they could've survive that way....silly.

Now the other side of it is this.....maybe some thing should come as a loyalty of subbing vs a cost of 5k in crowns. Imagine that as a model.

    SMH this is dumb.

Think about it. I would rather cancel my sub, use my remaining crowns to buy the 2 DLC's I don't already own, never buy anything again, and play for free, eating up their server power costing them money in maintenance and personnel while they get nothing in return.

Leaving would just save them money.
