So everyone are complaining about proc sets, and many want zos to remove them from game. But still somehove I see viper, veli etc. in almost every time on my death recap. So if everyone hates these sets, how can they be so much used?

For PvE, I don't use proc sets like Viper as they are insufficient.
These gauntlets provide a 5% chance any attack gains a critical modifier (x1.5). This includes normal attacks, strong attacks, counter attacks, ripostes, backstabs and consumables. In exchange for wearing low defense gauntlets, the Engraved Gauntlets give infrequent, significant boosts to damage dealt. A critical modifier applied to a counter blow can be over 1000 damage, which is half of a player with high Vigor's HP, the equivalent of 3 - 5 normal attacks, depending on weapon, or one third of a boss's HP. Due to Dark Souls 2 being a skill based game, all damage can be avoided, so the inferior defense of the Engraved Gauntlets is a non-issue. Spontaneously losing 50% HP or more is always surprising and discouraging in a fight. It feels unfair in addition to unexpected.Stone gauntlets engraved with odd writing. Said to bring good fortune to the wearer.
The wealthy merchant Fiorenza searched for these rare and precious gauntlets his entire life, but was not the one who found them.
Effect: Rare chance normal attacks become critical hits
