They were novel at first, but I think they are a bit boring. For me personally, I like to craft my own gear and work out my own synergies that way, that's part of the 'Elder Scrolls way', for me.

It seems like a cheap idea from ZOS, rather than overhauling crafting to say include jewellery and perhaps some new craftable sets.

because playing on glass cannon nb without minimum viper you are as free ap because you are unable to kill 90% population of pvp because of heavy armor meta, with viper you are able to kill more than 50% population on pvp

and on pve viper is also very nice for dps, 1 of the best sets to dps fro me

(and no using any other set than viper and kragh on pve and pvp also so no cancerous like tremor sorcs with viper, black rose, dk etc scrubs)

EDIT: and dont like just cancerous sets like this tremor, infernal guardian etc and viper on pvp, viper on pve is fine, just dont like mostly proc sets on pvp

Garbage comes to mind, crappy code that lets them ignore line of site, walls, why have walls if everything goes through them, standing on top of a keep getting hit with proc sets from the ground, through the walls, what's the range on those things, stacking proc one suite procs another, and who knows what kind of exploits have been found with these things, I can't believe they are working as intended and if they are it is a sad day in eso. I think you should only be able to wear one set with a proc, guess we will wee what the future brings things like this and zos'es lack of attention to these matters just make it easier for me to delete this game when something else comes around I want to play.

Honestly, even ignoring the horrifically broken interactions, I find the entire proc set meta really, not even annoying, just kinda dull.

I mean, okay, I'm all for having to play my role... but these auto firing abilities just don't do it for me. Initially I thought the proc sets were kinda novel. But it feels like they've been run into the ground now.

I didn't see a "it doesn't really bother me option." I've been in cyrodiil quite a bit since the proc set meta came. Honestly haven't seen a major difference in deaths. You are going to get gangked, and you are going to get steamroller by a zerg. Cyrodiil is the same as it always has been. The thing most people don't take into account is that if you load up on proc sets you have less weapon damage overall. You either get lucky and hit the same as someone who before loaded up on weapon damage and has 5k or you hit like a wet noodle. Now we have several ways to be effective. Just my opinion though.

In PvP? Yeah, "because everybody else" (Stamina Players) are killing me with two hits or less and I need to be able to compete and possibly counter these builds with their own medicine.

For PvE, I don't use proc sets like Viper as they are insufficient.

I like them. They allow for some unique character builds and give players new and more interesting ways to play their class. Seeing as this game has a very limited amount of abilities you can use at a time, this also helps players expand outside the system while at the same time maintaining its controller-friendly gameplay. It's an option I'd actually like to see expanded on in the future. So hats off to the devs.

The PvP complaint is valid. But even if they were to take proc sets out of the game the damage in Cyrodil would still be out of control. So I see that as a more fundamental issue with pvp generally and not specifically related to "proc sets" in particular. If it wasn't viper's sting or what ever slaughtering me in seconds it would just be something else.

I wonder if you include magicka proc sets in there like the ones that are pretty much mandatory for any competitive DPS build? I couldn't care less for proc sets in PvP cause I can still beat the people using them most of the time. So if you did mean proc sets for PvE then yeah I use Kra'gh, Velidreth, Ilambris and Grothdarr on my characters. Also I use Bloodspawn on my tank. So what? Do I get hate cause I use them in PvE? The only problem in PvP is the stacking of proc sets which can one shot pretty much anyone aside than one dude with 80k health.

I dislike them violently but use them on my stamsorc /stamblade nonetheless because it's the only reliable way to kill heavy armor dudes with a stam build.

I'm in medium, and seeing all the *** in heavy outsustain, outheal and outdamage me and on top of that proc viper and tremorscale on me... Well there's only so much a person can take.

They are a horrible idea brought to the game.

I use them them because you simply can't get enough damage to get through to 30k hp proc tanks or healers when you solo without at least 1 proc set.

Vanilla builds are very bad currently.

RNG has limited place in a skill based game. It can be used to deter players from applying tools outside of their intended situations (i.e. Bullet bloom in an FPS limits the effective range of guns.) by making those tools undesirable to use. In other words, RNG makes a tool unreliable or inconsistent which does not feel good in a presumably skill oriented game. Using RNG to reward proper usage also never feels good -- for the other players, both those fighting against and with the one being rewarded by RNG.

Take for example the Engraved Gauntlets of Dark Souls 2.
Stone gauntlets engraved with odd writing. Said to bring good fortune to the wearer.
The wealthy merchant Fiorenza searched for these rare and precious gauntlets his entire life, but was not the one who found them.
Effect: Rare chance normal attacks become critical hits
These gauntlets provide a 5% chance any attack gains a critical modifier (x1.5). This includes normal attacks, strong attacks, counter attacks, ripostes, backstabs and consumables. In exchange for wearing low defense gauntlets, the Engraved Gauntlets give infrequent, significant boosts to damage dealt. A critical modifier applied to a counter blow can be over 1000 damage, which is half of a player with high Vigor's HP, the equivalent of 3 - 5 normal attacks, depending on weapon, or one third of a boss's HP. Due to Dark Souls 2 being a skill based game, all damage can be avoided, so the inferior defense of the Engraved Gauntlets is a non-issue. Spontaneously losing 50% HP or more is always surprising and discouraging in a fight. It feels unfair in addition to unexpected.

Heavy influence of RNG does not feel bad when the game is based significantly upon it, such as in turn based games. ESO has had RNG based sets and passives ingame from launch, however limited. Ravager, Magnus's Gift, Burning Light, dodge chance and critical chance have all been here from 2014. ESO has an identity crisis on what type of combat experience it should have and these RNG elements have a place in one of those possible experiences. One of those experiences is the skill based, tactical combat of Dark Souls, of which RNG has no place.

The experience I seek out of ESO is the skill based one. RNG has no place outside of penalizing improper usage of tools and mechanics. Yet here we have pervasive RNG in ESO. It never feels fair to be on the receiving end of RNG, but it also puts me at a disadvantage to not use RNG as well. Embrace the imbalance and exploit it or be perpetually frustrated with inconsistent and unfair PvP and under rewarded play in PvE.

before 1t, my kill death ratio was probably 2-1. 1 death for every 2 kills not very good. i used black rose/viper the first week of one tamriel and my kill ratio was never higher. like easily 20-1. id never killed so much, but then again id never run with so many players also proccing. i then dropped the sets after a little while. now I'm on spriggan rose- no velidreth and maelstrom weapons and my kill ratios about 8-1 . I'm not tearing up the field, but 1 on 1 i can hold my own unless against a proc set, but moreso i dont feel like a ***.

the other day i was ganked off my horse by a night blade, i got off, streaked, rebuffed, healed, and proceeded to whip his arse for a good 30 seconds. I'm not a good player by any means but experienced to know when I'm out positioning , outplaying my opponent. he was running around, popping potions, then he turned ambushed, and his viper procced- and bam - fight was over. thats viper.
