When the beta for this game launched , it wasn't exactly what I thought it was going to be. Unsure really what I expected , maybe something between Elderscrolls and Warcraft.

Why? Seriously , every other MMO has tried to be like WoW only to fizzle out and fade into obscurity.

For all its shortcomings , and we all know what they are and that they exist , I saw past them. I saw the potential this game had. What it could be.

Whether you like it or not , this game has come a long way in a short amount of time. Especially considering how many others have fallen by the wayside. All while continuing to have its own identity.

Just like before , I love the game for what it is and what it will be.

Also , the community is as diverse as Argonians and Khajits , yet here we all still are!

There are no alternative similar games on console. Also the core combat system is still great so hoping that update 13 can salvage PVP. Really though just waiting for Camelot Unchained.

Even with the problems, to me the crown crates are not an issue they do not effect my play at all it is fluff, cheaters, broken game mechanics, exploiters, broken poc sets, do effect my game play, even with that me and my friends still have fun we stopped caring a while back, since it seems like zos does not care, the minute something else comes out we like if they have not made any efforts to improves upon this bantha poodoo we will be exit stage right.

I guess you could say we are still here for something to do until something else comes along, and the crying shame about that is we are all huge Elder Scroll and mmo fans.

As the title indicates, why are you still playing this game? For all the broken meta, crown crates and all the subsequent posters crying loud and proud that they are unsubbing and leaving the game, ESO seems to be doing very well, game population wise.

Just like in the real world, people tend to fill out customer surveys more often when they're dissatisfied than when they are happy with the services provided (which goes unacknowledged and written off as "expected"), I'm interested in the players that are still active, be they new or returning or veterans.

Not to say that I'm happy with the current state of the game, the direction it's heading and, unlike my last Lufthansa flight, I wouldn't go on putting happy smileys in every box in the survey, I can't say I'm entirely dissatisfied. And as you can see , I'm still here, still PVPing, running dailies, rage whispering left and right, and putting my non-existant balls on fallen enemies' faces.

So what's your story? What's your reason for keeping on playing?

I'm still pondering the existence of the vast expanding universe as why am I still on this game as well. I haven't found the answer yet. Must be some kind of a spell placed on us somehow by Zen/ZOS.

Well overall I do think ESO is the best MMO out there currently. I just play for the journey as others have stated. I don't care about min maxing my charcter, don't care about current meta, or pvp or making the most gold. I do have at least one of each class to max level and in some cases 2 of each class.

Up until the crown crates launched, I felt ESO had the most fair online store when it came to prices and what you got. Now if they start locking exclusive hairstyles and outfits behind RNG paywall then there store will be as trashy as like black desert or most other games and I would probably stop playing for a good long while. Cosmetics are important in an MMO.

I have enjoyed playing the game, this is really a great way to learn a lot about Elder Scrolls lore without tons of book reading in single player games. Going back to replay Skyrim since I played ESO had really changed the experiance for the better. Any time a daedra pops up I basically know about them and some back story. I know all the races better and just more about the world in general. I'm thinking of replaying Oblivion soon too with all this extra knowledge and see how that goes.

I know a lot of people are looking forward to housing but I honestly not really excited about it in this content drought we are in. Last thing to hit the game was assassins guild in May 2016, then we got 2 dungeons a few months later but hardly anything. One Tamriel was great but nothing new was added, craglorn was not new for everyone. It would be nice if the next DLC was even announced so there was something to look forward too. I know one tamriel was a big project but I feel a new DLC should come before housing.

Overall not much is keeping me here besides habit of playing an MMO. But right now theres so many good games out and good games coming out its easy to take an MMO break. For the bulk of the last month I really just log in to feed mounts on alt characters but there are days were I even skip that.

What makes you think I am still around? Are you watching me?

    1. I don't PVP, so class, skill, and race balances are unimportant to me.
    2. I am not interested in being an elite PVE player, so I don't worry about all these min/max things that seem to concern people, including massive DPS. I really have no interest in Veteran anything, at least right now. ( @Wrobel ... I would like to know what the average DPS is in this game)
    3. The TES world is the proper mix of believable and dramatic, which makes it superior to most game worlds. The ESO world is a bit more unbelievable than a typical TES world, though. This is mainly due to the escalating needs of the cash shop.
    4. It still has enough game play in it to keep it interesting for longer term play. I recognize that game play will likely take a back seat to cash store play, and the increased focus on vacation players will erode the overall game, with time.

I guess the bottom line is that I am here, for now. What has changed this year as that I no longer feel that ESO will be my game in 2018. I will probably be gone before then, hopefully before ZOS finishes killing it.

    Why am I still here?

*Just bought ESO and I don't feel like I've gotten my money's worth yet.
*Its the first MMO my wife actually has enjoyed.
*I enjoy the B2P with optional purchases format.
*I love TES, even though I got my start late with Oblivion.
*The potential for ESO to grow and expand is monumental.
*ZOS is frequently adding/refining gameplay mechanics.
*I'm pretty much burned out on STO and I need a new MMO.

ESO is a little rough around the edges in some ways (crafted sets losing usability, some unbalanced builds, etc.) but those types of things are the growing pains of any MMO. Nothing about ESO really bothered me until the crown crates. I still think it can grow and be one of the best MMO's of all time. Just gotta keep the suits from meddling too much.

    Several reasons.

    1) Community: my friends and guilds keep me coming back
    2) Combat. Even when I forget how good it is, a few minutes on another game reminds me how much I live ESO combat. Bringing me to:
    3) lack of alternatives. No other MMOs or even sp games are holding my interest currently. A few titles in development have my attention, but we'll see how things pan out.
    4) Nostalgia. Found memories of previous TES titles, fondness for when ESO was still shiny and ripe with potential when both Zeni and the players were excited and engaged, before the apathy set in.

First because it's TES (and I play TES because of FO games - I'm more into cyberpunk / post apocalyptic stuff).

Second I already had friends playing when I went active, so guild with TS from day one.

Third I remember to take breaks (like now) so it doesn't burn me out and I go mental on the forums about it

Last they still keep up and do a decent job - it takes more than Crown Crates to make me quit (the fact that CE works in this game was a waaaaaaay bigger slap to the face and yet I'm still here)

Short answer, It's a great game, that's huge.I have loads of cool solo content left to do 1.5years later. Loads of group content. And PvP left to properly get into. It's exciting.

I am nervous about all the proc sets, but they acting on that.

in terms of the moaning on here, well I'm new to MMOs, and on console, so guess I dont have the entitlement feeling that I have any say whatsoever on the shape of a game, and rightly so! For some reason people on forums in general feel that they do, that they can steer how a company directs its business, then when they don't act on it they get disappointed and angry, and rant. Guess i dont get that.

It amazes me how many people that 'quit the game ages ago' comment on posts. Why on earth would you read a forum of a game you don't play. Lol. Funny crowd.

Running any company is give and take. They need to listen to their customer base in order to deliver a solid product. Not all the feedback is full of insult and rants. Without this feedback how will they know what to fix, add or subtract to keep said customer base. Not eveyone quits because of ZOS not listening, we love the game and sometimes it's disappointing when it appears they don't listen. Remember perception is reality.

I will use the big 3 auto manufacturers as example. Remember a few years ago when they had to get bailed out? How could this happen, because they didn't listen to their customers, smaller more fuel efficient cas were selling just fine. But the big 3 just kept making bigger and bigger automobiles that were gas guzzling hogs.

Now with that being said, the game is still fun ATM. Got lots of friends to hang with and enjoy playing with. But the continued monetization is something to be concerned about. We have seen in MMO's how this effects the game. Yes they need to keep the investors happy, but just as important is the consumer. No consumer no money.

    Tldr

There is a need and a right for feedback be it negative or positive. Although some people you just can't make happy.

Pretty simple actually, because of the people I met and play with now. Can't say I wouldn't come back or I'm not sure if I'd even quit cause I don't really know what else to do with my time atm xD

But definitely the one thing keeping me here are the people i play with.

    3. I have all 4 classes leveled, so the developers can do what ever they want. I have parked characters before and will park them again.

Now, why am I here still? It's the Elder Scrolls. It's a fun game, certainly much better entertainment than TV. My GF works evenings so my choices when friends or family are not around are sit on the couch or interact with a game. I choose Interact with the game.

My partner works evenings too, I think it's a blessing haha
