People knew what they were getting for months now, so its on them. The only thing I do not like is people freaking out about a gambling addiction.... no offence but should be close bars because of drunks? Or close fast food places and ban forks because of overweight folks??
Sometimes people need to be the ones to accept the blame themselves, not the means to fuel what they cannot control...

Good luck with your crates!!

White knights
I do not get how I am white knighting... I am against the crates and what ZOS is doing.
You might wanna look up what White Knighting means..
@ThePaleItalian
Sorry my meme game is not strong, i wasnt calling you a white knight.
I was refering to those who use the "but...but...gambling addiction" argument, but yeah you're right, SJW is a better term.
Personally, I don't think ZOS are scammers, but they're definitely using some scam-like tactics. By not giving out drop rates, by not giving out more information about the boxes, it leaves a lot to question. I legitimately can not believe anyone at ZOS is truly proud of these boxes. Sure, they may be proud of the interface - Pacrooti's banter, the animation, everything is incredible well done. But the crates as a whole seems like a sore point.Publius_Scipio wrote: »ZOS should do whatever it wants with it's product. Whether Men'do or anyone else doesn't like it. That's first thing. Second, completely disgraceful for you to call ZOS scammers.
We still have no real information on upcoming DLC, no real incentive or hook to be spending all this money except for "we hope you like sparkly things". It's a money grab, and that's their right to do. Fallout Shelter was designed completely around the concept of the crates, and has the same awful RNG behind them. So it should be of little surprise that they came to ESO in the way they did.
But the entire thing is just... it leaves a really bad taste in my mouth. $200 in crowns, not a single storm atro drop? That's ludicrous. And ZOS should be ashamed.

@Bouldercleave stop trying to crush dissent like you allways do and let people make the call, informed with differing opinions.
I have to chime in here as well. I don't understand why you guys are complaining about having to buy a bunch of these crates for a RARE item. the word rare means it is unlikely you'll run into someone with this item. if everyone could buy it, then it wouldn't be rare. Let it be what it is, something special if you get lucky. The crates should really be purchased for the items you know your going to get in the crate. stop buying them for something you might get if your lucky and complaining that you didn't get one.
-Cheers

Really? What does "rare" mean to the person with 10.000 $ on their hands and what does it mean to someone with 100 $? When I see these mount I don't think "Wow, this person got really lucky!", I just see someone that uses a bag of money as his mount. That's literally what they are. There is nothing rare about content that is solely dependant on the size of your purse.
People will buy the crates. The new mounts look heavily detailed and based on that lvl of work, the increase in "crown value" is valid.
Though you'll get more reply value using crowns to purchase DLC content and costumes. This is because the costume is always on your toon, whereas the mounts are only visible on certain parts of the map (and forget about having that mount inside delves/houses).
I hope the community spend their time pushing for more crown costumes than trying to remove the crates.
The RNG for the crown crates seem really wonky (just like the rest of the game). A guildmember of mine bought 4 crates and got 3 mounts! 3! Deltia buys 46 crates and gets diddle squat...

Well, that is exactly how random drop works! You always have a chance to get nothing and a chance to get all the top-tire items in just a few crates. At least you get some cashback and can buy the stuff you really want if you don't get it in the crates.
Everything you can buy for Crown Gems you can get in the crate.xXMichonneXx wrote: »Can someone tell me what kind of stuff is actually in the Crates when it's not something desirable?
In what way does that affect you besides making the game better in the long run?Bryanonymous wrote: »Because they're a scam.

I put this post in another thread, and I am now going to put here. There needs to be a movement on this. Crown Create is just another sink hole the devs are playing on people's emotion and even their addictions. With all the things that need to be fixed and addressed in this game, they come out with this thing suck even more money out of us. I dont think so.
We need to continue this protest of Crown Crates. Once The Big Z closes this thread, we need to start a new one. Continue this protest until they retool or remove it from the game.
opened $100+ worth of crates and basically got crap. No mount, 1 emote, tons of potion and drink and a crap ton of duplicates. Watch and see!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gLxTxh6l8eI

I could give so many answers, but a scam is a scam... Calling it like I see it. Plus, I already have some examples in a previous post. In what way does playing corporate white knight help you? And please... saying the profits from these helps keep the game going is hearsay speculation at most. That is one of the most played out assumptions in this community. Guess all those subs dried out? Btw, have you seen any estimates of ZoS profits from game sales, or are you just assuming they're broke to rationalize why they need to rip people off?In what way does that affect you besides making the game better in the long run?
And there is plenty of it.Bryanonymous wrote: »Because they're a scam.
There is no scam without a deceit.
Well that was the worst possible answer.Bryanonymous wrote: »
Seriously guys. Why do you feel the need to hate on the crates and force it down everyone's throats? I get it, most of you won't buy it. That's fine. You don't have to buy them! I for one, like the crates. They got nice rewards and I got more value out of the crates than I would have if I purchased single items in the crown store. And in case you didn't know, running an MMO costs money. Keeping the servers up and having people to work on the game is not exactly free. These crates help keeping ESO alive. They pay for new content. And it doesn't really matter what you think because the crates are here to stay and people will continue to buy them. You just have to accept it.
"Worth" is not dependant on ZOS price tag but to how valuable they really are. Poisons for example have no worth at all since these are extremely easy to get. Same goes for pointless werewolf / vampire bites... all free and mostly easy to acquire yet they cost like 1k crowns.
