What's crazy is wow is still subscription based and they retain more players every year then here .

Same could be said for FFXIV. Sub model is perfectly fine, and can be accepted by a large playerbase. You've just got to have the regular quality content updates and top tier communication and expectations management to go with it.

Yeah, ZOS was just a wannabe, in this respect. That is why they failed.

Love it when vets have to explain how long they've been gaming.

Don't worry. In a few years, you can be one, too!

    Just kidding.

I agree . Moving away from subscription just invites more problems too . More likely to suffer cheating , more novelty crown store items to make up for income with less people working to keep the game running .

    Doubt it.

Change skills and morphs on the fly w/o having to find a vendor and spend gold.

Trans morph gear so no matter what gear you have on you can look like the bad ass you want to.

    Not talking about ESO here.

One game has been around a long time. One a short time.

One looks prettier the other is almost archaic is every since.

Probably not, WoW was one of those once in a decade fad things. LoL was soon to follow as the new fad, wonder what game will be next?

And WoW is by far the most complete MMO.

In other games, you find yourself asking for more; being PVP, open world, pet classes (Like the recent combat pet thread here) mounts, endgame, solo, difficulty, cosmetics which games such as DCUO are severely lacking

WoW has it all, cannot say that about any other MMOs.

    Eso pass Wow in popularity?

I'm gonna base my reaction on the past two years of development and the game in it's current state:

Not a chance, the management behind the dev team doesn't care enough(to be clear, not talking about the actual ZOS people here, its likely someone from Zenimax Media enforceing the poor decisions). And while we can objectively say that the graphics are better than WoW, to say the combat is better is very subjective. I am a fan of games that reward skillful play and decision making so I find WoW combat to be subjectively superior to the simplistic and relatively dull combat of ESO.

I suspect no game will pass WOW until blizzard decides to shut down the game because they found something even more profitable.

    No.
Simply because WoW has been and continues to be developed with the goal of retaining long term players.
ESO is being developed to have people drop in for a few weeks to see the latest dlc and then leave until the next.

I do wish that ZOS would do this. I hate trying to be a permanent resident in vacation town.

    Graphics = ESO
    Gameplay= WOW

Until ESO gets a grip on the gameplay (aka balance/mechanics) aspect, it will never overtake WOW.
ES is at a distinct disdvantage coming from a vertical progression single player back ground which are its strengths.
A massive community that preferred solo play over group play.
But that doesn't stop it using its strengths to remain unique within a community framework.
ESO could develop a better form of gameplay than WOW if they honoured the past and embraced the new.
Carving a new and unique path is always difficult....but progress is progress regardless.

You call point, click, watch your avatar autoattack with gcd on every bar ability better gameplay?

I'm sorry, I like relying on real-time reflexes instead of artificially slowed and timed combat.

Complete? It was hardly ever complete unless you really enjoy shallow rpgs in general, the reason it was so popular is because it appealed to non gamers everywhere. And balance was not very good in wow, its pvp was just as flawed as many to be honest, they listened to the complainers like so many do.

Maybe it is more balanced now but it certainly was not for a very long time.

Not after Legion expansion. But honestly, I think that WOW can live for another expansion (decently), it's time for WOW 2. Or WOD, or WOS :D

I am a GW2 player and WOW sub. I am more experienced in GW2 (WvW and PVP mostly). I think that ESO has a lot of potential, BUT...

I am a ES fan. Playing since Daggerfall, I was in love until Skyrim came out. That was another game. Newer, but too much console oriented. Was not really a step further.
I always thinked since Morrowind that ES needed a small group feature or MMO to be forced to balance stuffs.
Now here we are. Being honest, I think that balance was never they strong point, but they are doing it.
Plus, the solo play is awesome compared to other MMO (like GW2 is fine, WOW is going very bad :( ).

Before Skyrim ES was not a brand for everyone, but was strong. Now they need to adapt.

I hope the game doesn't go full F2P. Besides that, I think everything would be fine.
