Cyrodiil PvP keeps/forts/castles

s_jscorpiorwb17_ESO
Why is it in cyrodiil that every keep/fort/castle is 95 percent exactly the same in design & layout. Maybe it was balance so no faction had the upper hand so they just made them all the same & time/budget problem. I hope in the future they can redesign them so they all have a different feel/layout to them so too offer different challenges etc, because it gets old fast sieging the same keep with a different name.

I agree that it would be really nice to see PVP content expanded, either more stuff like Imperial City or more campaign maps like Cyrodiil. Maybe a middle ground between the two with more distinguishable alliance keeps.

There is the two story and the three story model. It would have been easier to design that way when the game was being created and it also saves on memory/load times for the area by using duplication. They have made little changes over time, adding crates, barrels, bookshelves, (more) statues, adding that round lowered circle in the floor at the flags, but the architecture has remained the same. It would be interesting to see how they could change the layout at make more interesting keep captures/defenses, but it isn't likely to be added to the development list any time soon.

(The same identical format approach was used on the PvE solo delves. They updated some of them by adding more tunnels and rooms on top of the old single square circuit pattern that practically every delve used, but then work on that upgrade was halted.)

They could have a zone for each faction to be able to be invaded once you have got all the way to the scroll gate, other relics to capture etc, alot smaller than cyrodil & only able to enter once you have unlocked the scroll gate. But then you will have the people moaning about how they are locked out of content etc etc because their faction never gets that far.

Because if I'm not mistaken, those forts are not built by the factions. The empire built them, during the reign of Alessia. That's why all of them have same design.

They did indeed exist prior to the Three Banners War as part of the defense for the Imperial City, hence why six of them are distributed around it (lore-wise). Design-wise, it's the heart of the tri-faction combat system.

Yea the castles are empire built dont mean they have to all be the same though. They could change the layouts but still keep it imperial.

Yeah, you can't lock people out of content, but you could divide Cyro itseld into three large zones, which someone suggested over a year ago in a larger feedback thread. Of course Cyro is already kind of big, and it would take away the ability to easily coordinate and move effectively throughout the province if there were three maps, but having more room for development would open up new possibilities. In any case, my hope is for a PvP battleground/trail thing, one at Cloud Ruler Temple and one in an as yet unrevealed part of the Imperial City. Others could be added in new locations. And having a world boss or two in each Alliance's territory would also be interesting.

You're just asking to make the lag in cyrodil even worse.

They're all previous Imperial Keeps, and you know how orderly the Imperial Legion is. You could argue they purposefully designed their Keeps in a uniform style.

But yes, it's a developer choice for ease and convenience.

I'm leaning towards this aswell. Everything they made was geometrical and uniform, even Imperial City.
