Neither is an insult.
What's insulting is how badly you and so many others missed the point by a mile.
So enlighten us. What is the point of this thread?
Because what it looks like to me, is that the OP suddenly came to the obvious realisation that the meaning and use of certain words change over the course of time, followed by him explaining this change specifically concerning the word 'tryhard'.
Now my question ís: Who asked for this knowledge? What does it contribute?
I'm just like:

It contributes perspective on the motivations of certain philosophies and their effect on the people around you.
What you -do- with that information, whether it be sit and stare in a friggin stupor like that Gif, or if you take the time to ponder it and learn, is up to you.
Information is information, and knowledge is power. If I discounted anything I never asked for out of hand, I'd never have grown a inch intellectually. But that's your perogative.

I do appreciate philosophy, but I don't think it has a place on the ESO forums.
Furthermore, this one is so elementary, there's nothing to even take away from...

Coming from someone who often calls peoples names or insults them when they dont agree with him on a video game forum. You never really struck me as the deep philisophical mind in search of bettering himself through knowledge.

I do find it funny that you insulted past posts. Says alot about your character as a player and maybe as a person of your intelligence.
When you try to discredit somebody next time dont be so "tryhardish" lol. Try saying "help me understand, " that gets further in game and in life sir.
