I'm used to this kind of behavior now, which I suppose is kind of sad. Over the weekend, I was trying to complete a quest and needed to kill x number of mobs. Another player, who clearly wasn't doing the quest, literally ran up to where I was and killed the mobs I was fighting. He then ran around the area killing all the mobs and when he was done, sent me this message:
"I killed all of em...Luv me?"
I now had to wait for respawns to finish the quest. I ignored him and moved on. It's all you can do.

Just because other people's concept of that term differs, does not automatically make them rude, immature, jerks, or insensitive.

You have a funny definition of rude. It is what it is though. If you don't see a problem with some of the actions taken by other players on this subject, you may be part of the problem.
Let's try and put this into a different light. And yes I will use an extreme examlpe. Let's say you are on the last round of VMA. Now right before you get to the coveted chest, someone comes in and takes it before you get there. It wouldn't make them rude at all right?

That's an awful example. Consider when the media covers a door opening on black friday and all those bargain hunters rush in, push and shove, and even fist fight over deals. You see this argument over rudeness and who saw it first all day.
It makes the news because its so pathetic, humans behaving like wild herd animals. Social contracts go up in flames. Survival of the fittest, or most cunning.
Why not try and convince these people to behave? Get them to behave in a socially acceptable way if possible?
You can stand there on a soapbox, preaching and compelling them to behave like good people to each other. You have the moral high ground, what could go wrong?
So, show them the error of their ways, as they knock you over as soon as the doors are opened (or node respawned). After this happens to you a few times, you'll get the picture. You're wasting your time on a hopeless, selfishly motivated group.
The best solution is not to let it effect your gameplay, just:
Best way to fix this is if ZOS allowed you to still collect a resource while in combat.
In Runescape for example, when you're mining or woodcutting etc, you can be getting attacked and it won't interrupt your mining/chopping unless you decide to fight back.
Your excesive use of "literally" aside, they're obviously not your nodes as the other players got to them first.

That is BS. I am tired of being in a combat situation where it is beyond obvious that I am fighting for a chest or Mat and have some idiot run up and take it. This is beyond rude period.
No the actual solution is one that ZOS will never do. This is make the mats available to all instead of first come. Its the one part of the game that I have disliked since beta.

They are available to all, and the 1st 1 who pulls out their axe. What other design option would you suggest? Just let people harvest the same node over and over? That doesn't seem realistic.

Your extreme example doesn't work at all. You bust your ass through 9 rounds solo to be rewarded a chest.
That's the absolute worst example because another player could never be introduced into the arena to "steal" the chest....

I told you it was extreme example, still has the same friggin premise, you do the work someone else gets the reward. If you can't understand that, then there is no point in trying to make you understand. Is it possible no because it's instanced, does the premise still fit, yes it does.
