This is an issue with aggro mechanics in this game. It's shady, but certainly not against the terms of service. I typically just ignore nodes that have mobs around and save the headache. Even if you kill them nearly instantly, there is some ridiculous cooldown before you're out of combat and can actually loot the node. That is something ZoS should look into as that's extremely frustrating standing by a node waiting for my combat cooldown to end and someone else without that silly restriction can come up and loot the node freely.

Most players run around like chicken without a head, not paying attention. I doubt they do it on purpose. It's because of this event.

I also accidently looted a chest where another player was first. I just did not see him as I ran in blinding speed in cloak across the map. As soon I was near the chest I used it and then you only see the lockpick system. When I was done lewting a player spammed light attacks fireballs at me and called me some names.

I apologized but that didn't help.

But since the event doesn't last long I expect more headless guys running around until the event ends.

when it ends I go back to Cyrodill for harvesting since there is an abundance there and drops more then PvE land.

When exploration conflicts with combat.

I would say add a node tag that locks them...but then you would have 'that guy' that would tag all nodes and then go and collect at leisure holding everyone else up.

So you speed up the respawn timer...then people will just wait at the same node instead of moving around.

Perhaps a 10s lock-tag could work....but the coding involved might be not worth the effort.
And would it be bot proof ?

Perhaps people in combat can place at mine at the local node.
Anyone out of combat gets blown up trying to use the node.

It is annoying, but I just shrug it off. As someone mentioned, I doubt it is always intentional. I, too, have accidentally "nicked" a node, or two, due to my lack of awareness at that moment.
Sometimes, I also forget to hold block when soloing a boss (the few that can be soloed) as a player approaches, so they can get a couple of hits in, because I was too focused on not dying.

Disrespect and carelessness tend to spread like wildfire because "someone did it to us, so we can do it to others".

That being said, don't overrate such behaviour and don't overreact to it. Enough nodes for everyone. That sort of "node war" you're describing is also considered by some (including myself) as a little "game" that makes farming a little bit more spicy.

Also, sometimes, we farm in pre defined routines like automatons, and not notice that someone else is fighting mobs, presumably for the node. We just go for the node as part of our routine, rather brainless and unaware.

If you are a templar, try throwing Shards on top of the resource before killing the mobs.

I noticed that the color and animation of the shards hide the glowing of the resources pretty well. So, unless someone has spotted the resources before you get there, you can at least hide it a little bit against other players that want to do that.

I also just stand right on top of the resource while fighting.

Sometimes a random still goes and picks it up, but is much rarer.

I quite agree with that. The other day I had a similar experience while grinding XP with a friend at Auridon's South Beacon. I was happily killing mobs (rather quickly with my stamblade) when suddenly I received a whisp from some player in the area, rather rudely calling me names. I was like, "What's wrong?" and he asked why I wouldn't let him kill some mobs too.

I do not "steal" any nodes when I'm aware of other players nearby, even fighting mobs. I usually wait a few seconds if the player is interested in the node or not.

What bothers me more is when I stand in front of a chest and need to destroy an item, when within these seconds another player just loots it. It doesn't happen often, but often enough.
This also happened to me in the starting area (pre 1T) when I played ESO just a few hours - but that player was unexpectedly nice and sent me a letter with the looted item few minutes later, explaining that she/he forgot to assume I was just destroying an item and apologized for "stealing".

What bothers me the most: leaving low level items and especially picklocks in several types of crates, urnes, etc so they don't respawn their content or leaving lures only in plant nodes. Imo picklocks should be abandoned from vessels - make them buyable from npcs and findable in thieves boxes only.

the point is, people dont like free markets anymore. they want a heavily regulated environment where their self-interests are protected from smarter, faster members of the market.

Welcome to an Open world MMO, I hear Skyrim doesnt have this issue. But on a more serious note, Nodes aren't yours until its in your bags. I've had my fair share swiped from underneath my nose plenty of times and I've swiped nodes from others. Move on there are other nodes out there, no reason to be upset

Price is a function of supply and demand. Even if the supply increases, if the demand increases at a greater rate the price is going to increase. Also currency itself can be seen as merchandise against other goods. If the supply of gold is high, there can be price increases of a purely inflationary nature even without a change in supply and demand. I wasn't in the game in 2014 so I don't know what the prices were back then, but the game population has increased, and there are now more gold sources (ex. thieves guild repeatable quests), while the number of gold sinks has not increased. In fact as the game population matures, some gold sinks (bank upgrades, backpack upgrades for chars, riding lessons) actually decrease. There are probably many players now that have lots of gold and nothing else to spend it on. So they farm and craft sets, then fully upgrade it. In conclusion there are many factors involved, and supply of tempers is just one of them.

Ok so last time I checked this game had tons of resources keyed to fighting and beating content. The most common is the glow corpse that drops stuff that only is available to those who hurt the target.

Last time I checked they also had tons of resources not at all related to killing that go to the first to access them. Some of those have locks where even if first if you fail the pick others get a window to try.

So this notion that combat makes all resources your owned property and others fulfilling the access it first are stealing is just flawed.

You don't get to claim every resource node in sight just because you fought a daggerback. Really, your heroic vanquish of the daggerback does not mean that columbine patch at the edge of your keen eye glow is magically yours.

Nor does your awesomely incredible death match against spiders grant you sole rights to the runestone.

The game is designed to have different ways to get different resources. Some ARE get by combat. Some arent. Some are basically first access, a race. Some arent.

We have had threads where folks walked up to two resources, started one and gripes that while they were picking the lock others stole the runes next to it.
