best race imo for templar heals is altmer. both pve and pvp. here is why, many misconstrue healing being about power, its not especially templar healing. templar healing is heavily based on high regen. being able to heal 30k with a bol is pointless when after you use it you have to heavy attack and to be frank there are strong number of situations where one needs to be able to spam heals without a heavy attack. cannot name the times i have had to heal 15k damage followed by 15k damage the next second followed by the next second for over 15s. to be frank i run 4000 regen on my templar and it heals very well. i would rather have a healer that can sustainly heal the battle no matter how long it goes, then one trying to pull 20k+ dps while healing and well generally having people die from not being healed (i see it all the time, dps or tank down at 20% health having to hold block rather then doing heavy attacks praying dear god when is the healer gonna heal).

I'd say it depends on what you want to play.

Sure, there are benefits to playing certain races for certain classes but personally I can't play races I don't like, no matter how "uber leet dps" you can do.

Having said that, Breton is a very good all-round race for magicka templars.

As others pointed out, there's no reason to choose breton/highelf if you don't want to get stuck with healing. Dunmer provides better DPS while providing good healing aswell. But sure...if you want to min/max healing go either breton/highelf or argonian.

Have you ever thought about using other spells than BoL?

If a healer needs to spam burst heals, specifically BoL either he or the others in group are doing something very wrong.
Healer is not running HoTs (mutagen/rapid regeneration, ritual, healing ward, healing springs) and he is not using purges (ritual, purge) and/or the others are standing in red stuff, are getting constantly hit in the face by enemies because don't block or dodge, tank is not doing his job. PvP healing is more nuanced since there everybody is, or at least should slot his own heals. Running with more than 2K regeneration is probably overkill for any content and Templars don't really need that much because they have channeled focus.

I have a Breton and cost reduction plus regen add up, throwing bubbles and shards at trials

I actually heal trials best with another Templar who is a Dunmer - we compliment each other very well.
I have run with this Templar healing my DPS since start and he has mine ( probably why we work well together) but it's taught me a few things. And it also has to do with style as well, He heals harder, and is better at having a boss chase him ( dunmer stam lol) I'm better at rezing in stupid circles ( spell resist)
I can give costly resourse like orbs better ( cost reduction, regen) I'll use them too attack along with shards.
He's better at attacking as he will hit harder ( fire buff) , I'm better at buffing and saving with Bol ( burst if needed)
This is not to say either suck, we are just different and we actually like each other's Templars and have let them complimnet each other.

Either way at trials I have aether/spc because my regen & cost reduction is higher he has worm/spc as he benefits most from that and I don't mind.
We both run springs, ritual, rune but I know his hits harder. I run the orbs, shards I'd say at least 3 to his one that people need for resourse and synergys to activate twilight, Akatosh etc (as I have cost reduction and regen.)
I debuff with aether, he takes elemental drain, I take syphon. I'm the one who's most likely to catch the heals if it goes wrong, I have better bust, but he's keep you alive more though most of the (time bigger pool,) it's his nova that you will be standing in more often, but I'll warhorn more often. with us both playing to our strengths it's pretty smooth.

In pvp when we are together he kills people lots, he's going to hurt you lots, (flame talent) I think he enjoys it, but I'm more Healey through battle spirit. I'll catch him too. He shrugs off lava whip I laugh at meteors.ive shard -ed people to death as I can.

Both are great choices bot get through content well, and I'm sure if we wanted either of us could respec to be more like the other.but why wreck a good thing.
