New character classes after 3 years of stagnation

You know what I want? New weapon lines. I think that giving us something new that we can blend with any class would be much more interesting and shake things up a lot more than adding a new class would.

We could have stuff like spears and quarterstaves, perhaps. Hell, we could have a Conjuration Staff. That could be really cool.

Or maybe I'm just crazy. That's possible, too.

Ohh I want new weapons too!

Spears, Bound Weapons (alternative for Magicka users that isn't a staff, craftable for balance reasons), maybe equippable spells so I can cast light and heavy elemental attacks with my hands instead of using a staff (also craftable for balance reasons)...

    It would be nice.
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

Balance existing classes and races first.

I can't see much need for new classes, if they really wanted to they could add a new skill line to each class.

It would still be quite limiting to just add new skills. This would dilute the diversity because people might only be able to slot 1 or 2 max along with existing skills. Whereas a new class would create a lot more diversity. Personally, I think they could do a lot more with a vampire/necromancer playstyle. The lore is already there, the skills are partially teased out (but currently weak) and you could incorporate a Dawngaurd type storyline DLC to accompany the new the new class - Vampire/Necromancer

I support a new class, i don't think adding one would ruin the 'balance' so bad because it's already not there. And anyway balance is an utopia that will never be reached until everyone potential is diluted into being all the same.

There is alot of options they could take to add to the game that are lacking right now, like a class built around frost magic, we already have dragonknight focused on fire and sorc on lightning, so why can't we have one with frost element as a base.

I also support new skill lines available to all classes, like conjuration magic that could add a pet to everyone, because as of now only sorc can do it. Do we need pets on sll toons? No, should we be able to run one on all toons? Yes.

As for people who don't want to supress a toon, let's ask ZoS to add more slot, why should we only have 12? It's an easy fix.

I do feel like the supporters of this idea that the world is starting to look blend and flavorless because after a couple of toon you've seen it all.

Yes, it would be interesting to have necros, but the order of the black worm in TES lore is the opposing faction to the Mages Guild

    Dear Zos -

JADED and FED UP does not even begin to cover it. So to be fair, lets start from the beginning.

After playing Beta, I remember pre-ordering the game I was so impressed. I remember creating my first character, a tank. I was hooked, captivated and delighted. I remember starting up the Storm Guides guild, probably the oldest international guild on the EU server. I remember meeting people and inviting them to my guild, because they were just as excited, and like me, could not wait to pay their subs. By the time I got to my 8th character, I was still loving the game, v16's all of them. (That's 128 Veteran levels of game play, not noob grinding, for those that don't know.).

So much changed. Vet levels got nuked through sheer apathy (I was one of thousands that thought that was a terrible idea, but no-one listened). Mechanics goal posts were shifted, rearranged, then shifted again. Still I paid my subs. I even spent crowns buying 2 more character slots, to build and play another 2 unsurprisingly familiar classes. Stam build this, magicka build that...blah blah blah. And this level 50 max-cap thing? I totally DO NOT FEEL like I am progressing anymore. You can grind to level 50 in like 2 days now, and that's what everyone is doing. The first question people ask my guild when they join, is 'how quickly can I max level. Gosh I remember the early days of people asking totally different questions - sad really, something has been lost.

3 years into the game, and we still have the same old 4 classes we had to start with. Zos, in your ambitious vision to promote the New ZosWorld Order of DLC variety and new content, you have missed the most obvious progression in the game that has been crying out for ages. Character classes. Shame on you folks! Shame!

Do you think we are absolute idiots to sell us 4 more character slots, that allow us to play the same classes again? We are sick and tired of fiddling and faffing our builds to get an inevitable Stam or Magicka build out of 4 classes. The 'Feed them Cake' (literally and figuratively) attitude has to go. Get real and at least indicate to the community that your heads are not shoved up that dark tunnel where even ogres are afraid to go?

How about alternate character classes like a druid as a healing type, with new spells and abilities. A dark necromancer or magician to balance the Sorc class. A paladin or berzerker to add spice to the DK class. A new thieving type, or even a hardcore assassin would be a nice change to a nightblade.

Hell, I would even pay crowns to own a new character class.

I remember paying subs. Now, not a chance in hell I am going to pay subs again until you, dear beloved Zos, wake up and remember .. us.

    GIVE US MORE CLASSES PLEASE!

[Edit to remove mention of petition]
This OP has a very valid point weather you support a class system or not. This game is extremely shallow on the surface it looks like a large lake open expansive and plenty of room . only to find out you can walk across it waste deep in very direction.

The amount of content and depth of it ZOS has managed to put out in the last 3 years is ridiculous. The only DLC that really had some meaty content was IC, Osinium was an attempt to appease this mysterious population that only wanted solo content and did not like MMO's. DB and TG were t best should have been a free update to take the two best guilds in the IP and make them these passive zone friendly low impact guilds was just lazy and a complete cash grab.

The crafting system is the only aspect of the game that has meat and it was extended by the trait research. I see the OP's point i dont even play this game anymore after Tam 1. i thought it would reguvinate the MMO aspect of the game but it did not it actually watered down the group content even more.all ZOS is doing is throwing Easy bake content out at you that previous gen MMOs gave for free , let alone they are repurposing old DLC's and adding a mount or skin that you can only get by re buying the DLC. LOL its pretty sad

    http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:The_Order_of_the_Black_Worm

It isn't a mistake, it is true that not all necromancers are allied to Mannimarco. We have Vastarie, who along with her husband Telacar turned their backs on the King of Worms. We meet both of them in Grahtwood.

As members of the Mages Guild and friends of Vanus Galerion, however, even if we learned Necromancy from Vastarie, it would still be kinda... Complicated. I'm sure the Great Mage wouldn't be happy with us, even if we were with Vastarie and not with Mannimarco.

But Vastarie's existence could be an excuse to add Necromancy as a skill line. Maybe after all these years the Great Mage meets her again and reconsiders his previous judgement, after everything that happened, and gives us permission (with the blessing of our Alliance's leader) to practice it under Vastarie's supervision. You know, to be able to fight fire with fire. Although I think it would be hard to do it in a way that doesn't look out of character for Vanus. I can see him threatening to never talk to me again, like he did with the vampires ("If she betrays us and the world is destroyed I'm never talking to you again", he says. I love that mer).

I'm gradually losing Interest in eso because the lack of classes and freedom... none of the classes fit my elder scrolls playstyle I wanna be aa necromancer I wanna be wyress I wanna be whatever the hell the vosh rahk are flying into orbit and slamming down. Would love an assasin ir rogue that's not a nightblade more than anything I'd love new classes that start as stamina and gain magicka morphs. Can't say I'm gonna stick around for another 3 years buying a new zone every 3 months to... wait for it use the same skills on the same character in the same build running same gear for 10 years pass.... never seen a mmo with so few classes based on a series with so many classes...

Half the skills are already there zos Just tweak it for players ffs summon a swarm of self reviving when dead skeletons as a pet toggle. ultimate summon a bone colosus or flesh atro, aoe ground snare that deals disease or magic dmg by skeletons grabbing from floor. Shoot citsed fire ball that stuns. Add a skill that makes corpse like and once slotted your a lich with new weaknesses and strengths. Add a bunch of armor and resistance crushing defiling debuffs.

Add a warrior class that has all skills starts as stamina and can do various melee skills like fisticuffs or battle roars that fear targets can do lunging tackles as gap closers toss in a berserker skill line that deals dofferent effects the more dmg you take make it be like a dps tanky class with a kinda vamp like passives hp gets low your dmg migitation goes up like 20%
Add in a gladiator counter attack skill line where its skills allow countering of other skills ex back roll Instead of being knocked down you have a 35% to insta roll back a couple meters away from target cost no stamina. Maybe a few skills that behave differently depending on weapon.
Ex: strike. Changes depending on weapon held two hander a quick spamable slash or smash. Morphs One hand and shield ex toss shield at distant target that bounces off and pulled back with a chain. Moprh two use a buncha strength to do a hard sword strike that staggers targets
Dual wield spin around once and smack target with both weapons.
Fisticuffs add a skill that can trigger or be used like frags like hammer fist in between skills have a 30% chance to insta cast a hard falcon punch a target.

No new classes. New skill lines, yes, but not classes.

This is supposed to be Elder Scrolls. The four classes we got at the beginning are four classes too many.

I personally support a new class.

Balance is one of those things that will never be perfect so i don't think its a good excuse to not make a new class.

Plus, balancing 4 classes then adding in a 5th or 6th would cause more havoc then balancing 4 with the 5th, 6th, etc in mind.

No need for new class, add new class skill lines. For instance a priest skill lines, when it morphs it can either go from dps or heals. Or even a hunter, warrior; just to name a few. Give us more options when building our rotations

i can balance the game real easy, all dots instant cast, do x damge for x seconds, all instant cast direct damage do y damage, and all channel attacks do z damage. all executes are direct damage and templar's no longer channeled and sorcs no longer split into 2 damage portions as well as all executes start at 25% health and do not scale as target gets lower on health. all heals heal for the same amount per second/cast for both direct, hot, and channeled, and healing springs no longer stacks with itself from same caster. also animation canceling will be removed. all skills that heal or do damage will no longer grant buffs, but rather all buffs will be unique skills that only grant the buff(s) while doing no damage or healing. taunts will still do damage but will do no buff/debuffs of target or team. any skills that do damage and healing together will split between the 2. doing half the damage a dot, direct damage, or channeled ability would do and half what one would heal for.

The problem with new classes is everyone would restart with them. Say they trickled them out the door. Paladin, Monk, Ranger, whatever. As soon as Paladin released, everyone would be Paladin. I think the four classes is just right. You cover every aspect of RPG with the four. Any more would become congested.

The real issue isn't classes. You maxed out 10 characters. That's wayyy too much time into one game. I don't mean to insult you, I'm just saying as someone that's been playing 6 months with one character and at 202CP. I already play way too much myself.

From the pov of someone having played during the beta and have only started to play now, this game basically features absolutely nothing new compared to the version back in 2014... which is quite a terrible observation for a 3 years old game.

Any actual new content is behind a paywall of several DLC or a sub, making this game keep holding quite a high P2P cost, which I don't think is good for expanding playerbase, for new players do not benefit of anything new with a standard pack only... but duel <_<

This kind of strategy mere cluster the playerbase between people spending a lot of money in an mmo (which is no more the trend since roughly 10 years bytheway) totally forming an elite for not being much, who in addition is blatantly against any free new content, for the very reason why they won't benefit from it only (see this very thread) over the majority of players who just play the standard version.

I mean : who in his right mind can prefer spellcrafting, something which should be sorceror only or with magic value restrictions thus heavily dedicated to magic users, before some actual new free content like classes and weapons (especially ranged weapons like throwing weapons) which could please some fresh blood, but bored people having some gathering dust 561 sorceror ..?

I wonder how this game could compete against GW2 or BDO, which frequently keep adding a lot of new free content, by featuring the very same content to people willing to actually pay to play ESO... when they can play GW2 for free and BDO for quite a cheaper price (if not for free in a few months from now).

I know what I was doing in finally paying for this game, which is quite an anachronism before the current market offer, but what I did not expect was quite a bunch of moronic old farts deliberately lobbying for this game not to last nor expand.

This is ludicrous and quite the explanation of why this game features absolutely nothing new since beta.

    You can be proud.

Early Alpha. And "not needed" is up to each player. I certainly would appreciate access to class ice skills.

And the skill lines datamined were not "left overs". They were completely removed forever ago, and appeared back in the game not long ago. This is recent.

Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

a woodelf archer in skyrim is the way a woodelf archer should be, not this *** poor effort we have in in eso, if no new classes then at least zos should take a look at skyrim for some inspiration in what is needed to be done to the present mess they have now.

The Place by Tony Walsh Please Read
This is the place in the North West of England

It’s ace, it’s the best and the songs that we sing

From the stands, from our bands set the whole planet shaking

Our inventions are legends! There’s nowt we can’t make and

So we make brilliant music. We make brilliant bands

We make goals that make souls leap from seats in the stands

And we make things from steel and we make things from cotton

And we make people laugh, take the mick summat rotten

And we make you at home and we make you feel welcome

And we make summat happen, we can’t seem to help it

And if you’re looking for history then yes, we’ve a wealth

But the Manchester way is to make it yourself

And make us a record, a new number one

And make us a brew while you’re up, love. Go on!

And make us feel proud that you’re winning the league

And make us sing louder and make us believe it

that this is the place that has helped shape the world

And that this the place where a Manchester girl

Name of Emmeline Pankhurst from the streets of Moss Side

Led a Suffragette City with sisterhood pride

And this is the place with appliance of science

We’re on it, atomic, we strut with defiance

In the face of a challenge we always stand tall

Mancunians in union delivered it all

Such as housing and libraries, and health, education

And unions and co-ops, the first railway station

So we’re sorry! Bear with us! We invented commuters!

But we hope you forgive us – we invented computers!

And this is the place Henry Royce strolled with Rolls

And we’ve rocked and we’ve rolled with our own Northern Soul

And so this is the place to do business, then dance

Where go-getters and goal setters know they’ve a chance

And this is the place where we first played as kids

And me Mam lived and died here, she loved it she did

And this is the place where our folks came to work

Where they struggled in puddles, they hurt in the dirt

And they built us a city. They built us these towns

And they coughed on the cobbles to the deafening sound

Of the steaming machines and the screaming of slaves

They were scheming for greatness, they dreamed to their graves

And they left us a spirit, they left us a vibe

The Mancunian Way to survive and to thrive

And to work and to build, to connect and create and

Greater Manchester’s greatness is keeping it great

And so this is the place now we’ve kids of our own

Some are born here, some drawn here but we all call it home

And they’ve covered the cobbles, but they’ll never defeat

All the dreamers and schemers who still teem through these streets

Because this is a place that has been through some hard times

Oppressions, recessions, depressions and dark times

But we keep fighting back with Greater Manchester spirit

Northern grit, northern wit in Greater Manchester’s lyrics

And there’s hard times again in these streets of our city

But we won’t take defeat and we don’t want your pity

Because this a place where we stand strong together

With a smile on our face, Mancunians Forever

And we’ve got this* as the place where a team with a dream (*Forever Manchester)

Can get funding and something to help with their scheme

Because this is the place that understands your grand plans

We don’t do No Can Do, we just stress Yes We Can!

Forever Manchester’s a charity for people round ‘ere

You can fundraise, donate. You can be a volunteer

You can live local, give local. We can honestly say

We do charity differently, that Mancunian Way

And we fund local kids, and we fund local teams

We support local dreamers to work for their dreams

We support local groups and the great work they do

So can you …help us help… local people like you?

Because this is the place in our hearts, in our homes

Because this is the place that’s a part of our bones

‘Cos Greater Manchester gives us such strength from the fact

That this is the place. We should give something back.

Always remember. Never forget. Forever Manchester.

Perhaps it is ZOS trolling the dataminers. ;)
