VMA destro staff enchant doesn't work on the off bar.

Every guide out in the internet has vMA staff in the back bar and claims that the enchant bonus works on the other bar too.. Tested this out yesterday and was disappointed that you need 2 vMA staves for the enchant to work reliably..

huh it does work, that blue aura you get when you cast mutagen or rapid regen is what the staff does (gives magicka back to you). It depends on how often you crit so maybe you need to get your critical up if it's not working.

On my tests and several other guild mates' tests we found out that the light and heavy attack bonus doesn't work on the off bar..

How u do it is have a crafted destro with spell dmg on off bar and then switch to main bar which is your VMA and gives you the best benefits unless this has changed.

I understand that the BiS setup works that way with the weapon damage enchant. The light and medium weaves on the off bar don't do the bonus damage. Wasn't sure if this was changed recently as all the guides mention that you get the bonus weave damage even in the off bar.

The enemies also must be in the Wall of Elements for it to work, and it must also be cats on the VMA staff bar.

Apparently it has been that way for some time. I got my staff last week and did some testing too and found out that the weaves don't give you bonus damage on the front bar. You still get the bonus damage when you are weaving your dots on the vMA bar.

Using 2 vMA staves you will lose out on the weapon damage enchantment. Also depends on what setup you are using..

Can you give some more details on how you tested this and your results as I can't completely duplicate the issue. For me, *most of the time* the vMA destruction staff enchantment works just fine on the back bar.

It was a simple test using the Giants in Orsinium and Light Attacking with a variety of weapons with and without the Elemental Blockade.

vMA Inferno LA = 2375
vMA Inferno + EB = 3716
vMA Restoration Backbar LA = 2033
vMA Restoration Backbar + EB = 3281
Inferno Staff Backbar LA = 2429
Inferno Staff Backbar + EB = 3770

There does appear to be an intermittent issue with it not working on the back bar *and front bar* which is strange as the vMA Bow seems to work flawlessly on the back bar although the effect is a little different. I'm going to play around with it some more and see if I can figure out why or when it works/doesn't work.

Edit: Even on the front bar the vMA enchantment seems to work only intermittently. This may be a very recent issue as I haven't noticed anything on PTS last week when I was testing the staves and LA damage. Still investigating further.

Tried it again jsut in case, works as fine as usual. Make sure your target is still on blockade's range, I guess?

Very strange...there are times where it definitely doesn't work but I can't figure out exactly what causes it to stop working. I tested it on PTS and it seemed to work fine for a while and then all of sudden it wasn't working at all (no bonus Light Attack damage on either the front or back bar). Testing it again on Live just now and I can't get it to break at all (it works all the time).

So a vMA Destruction staff does work fine on the back bar but there's some bug hiding in there somewhere that stops the enchantment from working rarely.

So I have a question. Does the Ele Wall have to be on the Maelstrom bar, or do the light/ heavy attacks have to be on the Maelstrom bar for it to work?

this thread is from 2016.

when you cast wall, from the bar that has the vMA destro, all you light/heavys attacks get the extra damage, no matter what bar you are on, you will get the extra damage, as long as the enemy is in your wall.
