There should not be farming or grinding for gear.
If you are lucky and get a rare or legendary item great if not get one made or trade for it,
You should not be able to grind and farm items...make them more rare and memorable if you see one.
Althought there should be legendary recipes and craft items but you should have to be lvl 50 in a craft to use them.
And the mats should be hard to get in the deepest dungeon the one tree from witch the wood for the shield must be harvested on the full moon ect.

I am sorry but none of the sets in this game should warrant to be harder to get than they already are. We already got people complaing about the grind now making things rare for the sake of it being rare is just going to waste people time even more.

i see where you are coming from and don't entirely disagree. trouble is the game has been running over two years so it is kind of late to introduce that.

also if it was something spectacular the pvp people would be whining for a nerf almost immediately.

i don't think that is what he/she/it is saying.

if you hit lucky and get the item..... you can no longer farm it.

the more i think about it the dafter it seems...

I like it, as an idea. I like farming/grinding, that doesnt mean I should be assured of any particular reward for it. As long as it's -a- reward, Ill use that to weigh if I wanna keep doing it or not. Too many snowflakes though, they would perish at the molten hot envy produced in such a system. Personally Id love it, provided gear also had decay with use and eventually break for good. No reason one guy should have the best sword forever.

Yep not everybody should have epic items.
They should be rare and game changing like omg you have stormbringer how did you get it.
Or one smith will make you the sword of power but you will have get me star iron smelted in dragon fire,

No. Just no. Seems to be your suggesting only a few players should be able to be lucky enough to be able to craft a specific set bonus. Those with the best set bonus would be rich and the rest of us at their mercy.

Really a poorly thought out idea and glad it does not, and never will, work this way in ESO.

Hey PvE may love the no skill play needed model but have on two sets that can drop 15k damage on light attacks while in full heavy is so far from right.
    Chaos Shadow-Scale: Shadow Archer
    Chaos Death-Scale: Shadow Knight
    Tanks-With-Sap-Essence: Dark Mage
Dark Brotherhood Listener: Blade of Argonia
    Chaos Dragon-Scale: Draconic Shield Master
    Chaos Light-Scale: Marsh Paladin
    Chaos Lightning-Scale: Daedric Master
    Hurricane Chaos: Storm Archer
    Bask-In-My-Light: Warrior of The Light
    Forged-In-Dragon-Fire: Pyro Mage
Guardian of The Hist: Light Mender
Chaos of Black Marsh: Master of The Burning Sword
Star of Chaos: Frost Blade Champion

I wouldn't mind an epic adventure for an epic weapon but it should be a situation where at the end the NPC gives you a choice for your reward, then have it bound to that specific character. If at the end of the epic adventure you must rely on RNG then by all means allow grinding in an attempt to gain what you want. Almost everything is bind on pick-up now anyway so that takes care of the rarity of items.

That aside your idea in the OP basically wants people to pay to have a weapon crafted instead of getting it at a guild vendor. There really is no difference at all here other than who gets the gold for giving you the weapon. So what your idea would do is force the vast majority of players to do the equivalent of going to a vendor for one, the very thing you say you are trying to get away from. It would probably increase the price by a lot as only master crafters could provide them.

Not just any vendor....and not for money...like the shield .....you have to get dragon scales....dragons would spawn only if certain conditions are met....not a certain haour with bots & fameers waiting....like if the lair is unexplored of random nunber of game months..
And yes not random treasure....I agtree if you kill the dragon you get dragon scales for a shield...now I would make the number of dragon scales random...and you can only get dragon scales once character.
Now what you do with your scales us up to you....you can bring them to the smith and make your shield /trade them for gold...ect.

The vendor would have to had to go on quest to get the recipe...maybe find it ancient book very rare and hard to get...not every smith would have it...random it in old books in dungeons...the book would be unique .. 1 book in all the dungeons book shelves....once found it would appear in another random dungeon book shelf.

So still just changing who gets the gold for the item if you can trade or sell them. Using the shield as an example many characters would need two shields as they have one on each bar. Usually the shield is a part of a set for the bonuses. So to replace shields already in use it would have to be part of a set. That means getting the other pieces of the set somewhere.

And why would the number of dragon scales be random? What if I don't get enough to make my shield? What if I get enough to make 10 shields? Can I sell them in a guild vendor? If so then really all you are doing is creating a way for elite players to profit off people unable or unwilling to do the epic adventure. As the dragon scales will be by definition extremely rare this opens up for all kinds of abuse. Potentially a person could make an account run all eight (or twelve) characters through the quest abandon the account and create another for another run of eight characters. With the rarity of the items that would lead to really productive gold farming.

Using your idea of dragon scales maybe you could create a number of epic dailies. Say each daily gives you ten dragon scales. Different weapons would take different amounts of dragon scales. You would need to have an NPC craft the weapon for you and the better the weapon blue/purple/yellow the more scales it costs. When you have it made it is bound to your account.

The biggest problem with that would be repeatable content though. The game survives on players repeating content. Once you get your weapon there would be no incentive to do the dailies. I am assuming you don't want the task involved in getting the weapon/shield to be a simple task. Assuming that there will be people either unable or unwilling to do the quest. So if anything you get from that quest isn't bind on pick-up it will lead to abuse in the market place.

    Hmm
There would always be enough to make one shield random maybey a few extra for trade not many...
Also the scales are not for every character it one dragon that spawns very in frequently...like game months so it not enough to farm.
And only few smiths would make one ...not for money.
Like I said not everybody will have the shield.... but there is more then one dragn in the world...and dragon scales and even rarer dragon sheilds would not be marketable because they are too rare just to sell for money.
You would never own 2 dragon scale Shields ... if you are lucky and work at it you will get one for your character but it would take game months to get one...and would be very special

It might be a nice idea for a rp story and whatnot, but from balance standpoint its absolutely and utterly horrible.
I hate ESO rng with passion, and if it would be even worse than that, I would've given up on this game. I dont want some random guy to be stronger than I could ever be just because he got lucky... Sure, it would be nice and exciting for those lucky guys. But for for the rest of us it wouldnt be fun at all.
