We really need a trader search function

It is really really tedious having to sort through page after page of items I do not want on a guild trader just to try and find the one item I am looking for. I feel like if we had a search function for the Guild Traders where we can search for specific items by name, or by key words (such as "Order of the Hour" in my case) tons of time could be saved.

Yea awesome guild store addon helps you about searching items "on the page". so you should just press the next page button and enjoy :) dont forget, it only filters on current page.

I am just of the mind that it would be nice to be bale to do it without the use of an addon. Not all people trust or want to play with addons, and would rather the base game experience as intended. Now, not saying mods and addons shouldn't exist, but rather good features that are added to the game through them should be considered for implementation by @ZOS into the game so everyone can enjoy them.

Also yea, consoles kinda get the short end of the stick in this regard, as its kinda really really hard (if not impossible) to get addons from PC to work on console.

I will admit that I bought very little from Guild Kiosks before I started using AGS. Now I am a shop-a-holic.

The consoles really need this functionality, if nothing else, remember the filter from one Kiosk to the next. At least with the Guild Stores you access from the Bank it will remember as you go from Guild to Guild, but does not do the same Kiosk to Kiosk.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

This is one of the main reasons I was opposed to addons from the beginning. It encourages developers not to include important features like this into their game.

The game desperately needs a search function. I don't even attempt to buy motifs anymore because of it.

Its good advice, but it would be nice if ZoS would just put these features built in. Every time they have a major patch it wrecks addons, and in turn creates problems. On a key quality of life feature like this it would be welcomed by everyone I think.

Personally I just don't use guild traders most of the time. It takes forever to scroll through the list to discover they are not selling what you want, and then you get to do that for the next ten minutes at the next one. Rinse, repeat, give up.

I would rather enjoy the dungeons and the quests and the scenery than "shopping simulator".

I agree completely. It totally "breaks my immersion" ;) to not be able to ask the knowledgeable and skilled proprietor of the trader for a particular item and have them use their impeccable knowledge of their wares to locate it. It makes me feel like they are all just like "ugh, look back there in the heap for that gold ring of whatever it was you said..."

We need a proper, fully functional, trading system that isn't dependent on guild membership or other restrictions including the use of addons but which is open to all. Tinkering at the edges of the present system simply won't cut it.

I guess it's because when you think about a search function you expect to type something you're looking for, click a button and expect results or none.

But the very first time I used it, it looked more like a dialog filter, requiring me to click next, next, next manually. If a page has something matching the criteria, the addon filtered removing everything else and letting only that item item visible.

Pretty sure that's not the addon's fault though. The game doesn't let you see more than 1 page of 100 items every 5 seconds and the limited search criteria can't be expanded by the addon developers if I'm not mistaken.

The API has filter functions that the default UI doesn't support, but the addons also implement filters (e.g., the text filter) that the API doesn't support. When submitting a request through the API, it will report a "chunk" of the matches for the filters that it supports - let's say it reports 100 items. Then the addon filters those results with the filters not supported by the API. This may reduce the number that are displayed to less than the 100 that were returned - possibly to "none". So you might do a search that actually returned 100 items from the API, but then that got filtered to a smaller number to display. Then if you click "next" the API may return another 100, again only to be filtered to a smaller number for display. It would be "nice" if the API implemented additional filter options (e.g., text search) so that it could be done much more efficiently - my guess is they have only done what is efficient for the back-end server that is performing the searches.

We agree, it is something we would like to do. But currently there is no Eta....

That was several months ago. I doubt much has changed since then. But you cant blame them. They are trying to build a different type of mmo. A useful auction house is something you find in one of those 'normal' MMOs.

Yeah, yeah, as developer and considering the poor state of game's trading system I assumed it could be a lack of API resources or bot prevention by short time requests denial.

Thing is with my latency this ends up being extremely annoying and I'm not exactly the most patient person in the world (not even of my own house >.<)

Please ZOS put modify the consoles trader search so we can look for specific motifs or containers that aren't classified under a specific search item. I'd like to be able to go to crafting >> clothing >> Motif >> select motif name and get a listing... instead of hunting through a bunch of motifs... Can't you copy like the WEapon or Armor menu block and modify for Motifs then populate the dropdown with all the motifs....

A basic function that should be part of vanilla game, with no need for an addon.

That is correct. Due to the addon having to work with the games shoddy store interface. You can enable it to automatically go to the next page in the settings. So you setup your filters (really important to set the hard filters to reduce page count and then do the text filter) then click search. It will hit every page and filter out what you don’t want. Switching to the next one every second or so. When it finds matching criteria it stops.

Took me a while to figure out this addon wasn’t broke. It’s about the best that can be done with the API there is.
