I realized how to get around this once one tamriel went live.
But the majority of the players don't bother to dig the forums for solutions or even try to understand what is going on.
1. They log in
2. What? All my characters are deleted? I have to start all over?
3. Uninstall
4. Next game

Please type the number here.
I'm sure they didn't loose anyone due to login bug. If a player can handle it by few clicks and 20 seconds of awaiting, it's really not enough for quitting the entire game.
I was complaining at first, but after several logins I got used to this "new feature", and even found some new friends on NA server, where I had no reason to go earlier.
Well, to be honest, this is somewhat like having a store with a broken front door so that people can't get in. It may not dissuade the dedicated customer, but some people will just decide not to deal with the hassle.
I am not sure what sort of blind spot they have with this feature, but this bug should have never even seen the light of day. That it did, and that they failed to fix it, deserves some introspection inside the studio.

Just so we are clear about this, does your definition of "majority" also match a group of people that is smaller than half?
I would expect that more people would open a support ticket between #2 and #3. We get to #3 only when support messes up and tells them to reset their router.

I'm thinking about how many players from the 7 mil announced by ZOS are visiting the forums.
ZOS , THIS ISSUE WILL MAKE YOU LOOSE MANY PLAYERS BECAUSE THEY CAN'T PLAY ON EU BECAUSE MANY OF THEM DON'T KNOW HOW TO CONNECT TO IT!

Well that's their tough s*it then really.

This isn't game launch date, it's some major patch implemented and even those not dedicated players know what they downloaded. By downloading it and the entire game they proved they wanted to play the game. I really doubt that anyone who just downloaded ever 40gigs of data plus few more for the patch quits just because of the temporary problem with login. I'm sure they rather try to find solution on google - if weren't earlier on eso forum - and by doing so they find forum threads and some of these actually become Soul Shriven hereWe are informed here and help each other, and are reasonably technically savvy in most cases, but we are the tip of the iceberg as most players do not frequent the forums. This really is like me over-hauling my shop, advertising it to all and sundry then leaving the front door locked and not answering the phone. Sure, the devoted customer might peer around the back and knock on the back window, but most people will go elsewhere.

Most people do not visit the forums. Particular where a game is marketed at, and mainly played by, casuals, as is the case for ESO.
And it's not their tough luck, it's actually ours because this sort of thing eats away at membership, with the net result that the game inches more into decline, has less funding, and less quality.

One little question.
Have ZOS any inside testers or not? I don`t understand, how they doing patches which doesn't work

No, I know you are not, sorry if it seemed I felt that. I just feel that this actually could be a bigger problem than ZOS think. After all the launcher is actually saying that people are on the EU server (when they are not), so they're going to trust that and act accordingly.
It's only us more inquisitive types who probably bothered to find this out here or elsewhere on the Internet.
My launcher, clearly saying EU in the top left when not:
I agree, I'm sure there are many new players who have characters on NA servers while they think they are playing EU, after all the launcher clearly says they are on EU

Yeah, and ZOS are going to fix the game and people then select EU - but it actually work this time - then wonder where their new chars are!
Maybe that's why they pulled the fix, they realised this impact and did not have comms ready so felt it better to get those comms out to prevent another cockup like that.
Maybe they will tell us one day...

Not only that, but what about new players who think they are on EU and have payed for crown items? like mounts and pets and more are they shared on both servers I read somewhere some items are not. if so this really brings a far bigger issue to the problem
