You may want to consider puting wall of elements on the lightning staff bar. Enemies you concuss standing in your shock wall of elements will be set off balance and take like 50% more damage from heavy attacks.
Also, don't use unstable blockade. Take the other morph with the longer duration.
I wouldn't double slot meteor. You have the elegant set which works great with overload.
As for the blue tree CP I go the more traditional route. 100 ele expert, 10 staff expert. 10 thaumaturge and the rest in crit damage.
Also, the degeneration morph of entropy is excellent with a lightning staff. You get 4 chances to proc the heal with 1 full lightning heavy attack. May be useful if you are doing solo stuff. It's nice to get random 15k heal ticks but surge is more reliable.

I think it is better with a mageblade. Especially wth a flame staff (since you can go full heavy attack out of nowhere)

Really? Have you tried it?
Major sorc < minor brutality. Even stronger if you do this combo:
1- Merc resolve
2- entropy (major sorc and empower)
2- shadowy disguise (for the crit, the 10% extra spell dmg and the 10% extra crit dmg)
3- Full heavy attack.
In PvE I've reached 32k full heavy. And that's without Mark target.
Sure, the buff for mDKs is strong, but IDK if just that buff can beat the rotation I'm showing you.

You missed the whole point of this post. Not only is this a sorc post, but in the time it takes you to wind up an inferno heavy attack with merc, entropy, disguise, I've already put down 4 dots and started ticking my lightning heavy attack.

I think he is inplying a FHA out of stealth...but its not a PvP thread...

Single target does fine (although a bit of a slow start - not burst like my stam DK) and AoE is ridiculous... melted most things in short amounts of time. (WAY stronger aoe than the stam dk)
Build success... thanks again to all that helped me set the build up better! This is a MUCH more exciting way to play the sorc... no gasping for magicka!
One thing though... i still could not hit 20k crits for the heavy attacks... not sure how it doesn't match up when i have a very similar build... but i was seeing some around 10-14k somewhere.

You need a vMA lightning staff for those 20k ticks.

I'm pretty skeptical here.... pretty sure there is absolutely no way the maelstrom staff deals up to twice the damage for a heavy attack (adds 387 damage to light and heavy attacks on targets affected by WoE)... I know it adds a little bit... but there is something else i must be missing.
you're talking about a 6 to 9k dps difference and the staff doesn't add that much.. it might add 2-3k dps over all?

So a lightning staff adds around 1300 damage per tick (base), however lets look at all the tjings modifying it:
Ele expert, Staff expert, Thaum, Crit damage etc... this means that each tick would go up by 4-5k or so.

would go up by 4-5k just with the mal weapon?? thats crazy... i wish the arena drops didn't suck so i could actually find the item i want
also... yes i'm running 5-1-1.. had others in group running igneous weapons, spc, warhorn, all the basics...
but if thats true that the mal weapon could potentially add 4k to this heavy attack build... ouchthanks once again rng for hurting builds.
Edit.... either way.... i'm still happy with the functionality of this build. mal weapons be damned!
