ZOS CHANGE WRITS..!

Frozenmosquito
I have been doing writs now for almost as long as I have been playing the game, and a majority of my time in game at this point has been spent on writs. What I enjoy most about this game is waking up and having a nice cup of coffee, getting on eso and striding my camel through the morning wayrest checking out the writ boards and pick up my writs that I love so much. I find it perfect exercise for the morning also to try and remember all 3 pieces of things I need to craft for each writ without having to check my journal in between btw. And ofcourse I have all character slots filled with characters with a lot of skill points for writs, and also bought extra character slots for characters so I can do even more writs than before! writs are so awesome!! Anyway as of late my friend who I alway ran the surveys with can not play anymore do to moving on to different things in the game (I really dont understand how he lost interest in doing writs but he's a weirdo anyway) so now I have been trying to go do the alchemy and clothing surveys by myself - problem is - IVE BEEN GETTING *** REKT ALL TE TIEM. WROTHGAR MAMMOTHS AND ECHARETTES AND **** KEEP KILLING MY AND I CANT EVEN REACH THE SPOTS TO GET MY RUBEDO?????? ZOS if you are reading this post, you must do something about writs and how they are completed. When Im doing writs, ZOS, I dont want to kill *** I want to chill and do relaxing things like the casual player I am.... To be honest I didnt even realise how tough the monsters were when I was running with my friend but now that he is gone doing vMA and vDSA and veteran trials I realise how tough the creatures really are.. AND I CANT HANDLE IT.

If you guys dont adjust writs guys... i dont know.. I might have to stop playing.

please nerf writs

Getting killed by monsters, that can be killed or walked around in a few seconds is your main complain about writs?
Not that survey maps will drop for every zone after OT goes live, not only for the zone where you turn them in?
Not that writs consume way more materials than the surveys return and the blacksmith writ that requires 5 instead of 3 items is still unchanged?

This isn't really an issue with the game. If you die to mammoths and escharettes, you need to invest some time learning how to play your character. I don't say that in a mean way.

I'm not a great player, but just to give you an idea of what should be possible, I take single digit level characters into Wrothgar and have absolutely no problem killing anything there with the exception of world bosses. Having played through the story line multiple times over, Wrothgar is where I like to level new characters.

What class? I'll bet people here can recommend some good skills to slot that will enable you to pwn those vicious mammoths.

My wife complains that I never listen to her. (Or something like that.)

Midnight - Find out when midnight is so that you can check for ww/vamp spawn.
Goto - Adds a tab to the map pane allowing you to teleport to a friend, guildmate, or groupmate for free.

The only survey that you can't get without killing stuff is Clothier III in Craglorn. All roads to it are guarded and I haven't managed to sneak past. The mobs are tough ATM but I have no problems killing them from one specific location. Maybe there are other locations too, since I haven't done any writs on my characters in other alliance before they hit the penultimate proficiency level.

Only 2 survey locations in wrothgar have a beast that can agro on you while collecting the survey. Both are a single bear and can be avoided if one keeps an eye out for their movement.

However, I would recommend figuring out how to kill those bears. Who knows, might be the first step towards new adventures with your friend in vet trials.

I completed 25 surveys yesterday morning with my sorc. Max level, has absolutely no gear. All skill points into crafting and crafting passives. I did invest in rapids and streak.

I died zero times. This is by far a L2P issue. Were you that dependent on your friend to do all the killing while you stare at the sky?

Doing crafting writs all day long would sure make the game extremely boring fast for me. I consider them a necessary chore - a good source of gold tempers - and nothing more. There is plenty of quality content out there that's meant to be played, and for which you need the quality gear that those tempers help you make faster and cheaper - they tend to be rather expensive on guild stores. But being unable to kill or at least sneak the normal mobs that happen to be around the survey location makes me wonder if the OP really has the skill to play that content. It makes me wonder how he actually got the skills to spec crafting on so many characters, since leveling up actually involves killing mobs in single player quests, and about two dozen skill points are locked behind group content (4 man dungeons) :)

If OP thinks killing mobs around resource nodes is difficult then I'm curious how they have faired for the rest of the game... I could only imagine dungeons, delves, trials... would be an entertaining nerf thread for sure.

I had actually leveled 2 alts trough Cadwell's Silver and Gold areas, picking books, skyshards and XP for leveling my skills, including my crafting ones to do multiple daily writs - surveys will drop less often and will stack so managing them won't be a chore in itself like it is now. Till level 50 I crafted blue quality training gear at levels 14/24/34/44 as I leveled trough the alliance areas. Before going in Silver I was actually worried I coudn't handle the mobs, and will have to craft another set of CP140 or CP150 gear, and clutter my bank characters further - I keep what I craft for leveling future characters. But wasn't the case. I'm actually soloing not only the normal mobs in Gold - which are leveled to CP160 just like DLC area mobs - but actually the world bosses and the public dungeons - those take 10-15 seconds on average after I drop the nuke on their head and use the AoE an spammable class/destro staff skill. Only the jewelry is CP160 arcane willpower, but the armor and weapons are still the old level 44 gear I switched to when I was back in alliance zone 5; I've heard they are buffing the world bosses and dolmens in One Tamriel somewhat so I will need to upgrade to CP160 to be able to solo them in 10-15 seconds probably. Killing normal mobs would only require rubberbanding the AoE button and running laps around the survey site. I could probably assign that task to my cat, who often wanders unto my keyboard :)

It is possible to sneak right up the road. Of course I'm Bosmer with all the racial, legerdemain, cp, and armor sneak passives I can have. I run 2 Nightshade daggers and legs, 3 Night Mother's Embrace jewelry and 2 armor pieces, 2 Night's Silence daggers and 3 armor pieces. Drop to sneak on Night's Silence bar then swap to Nightshade, you keep the sneak speed bonus of Night's Silence even though after weapon swapping you technically only have 3 pieces. I actually have no idea if the 3 pc bonus of Nightshade stacks with the 5 pc bonus of NME, but it's just my thieving gear anyway.

This was my very first attempt, the reason for all the stopping and looking around. I don't even think I had the gear I described above at the time. In fact, as I recall, I remember making sure I had my combat gear on at the time in case I was spotted. Skip to 1:30 in the video:
    https://youtu.be/W9oZ4IbeqS4?t=92

I run through there much faster now especially with Shadowy Disguise. I used to occasionally try to sneak around the backside of Skyreach Catacombs but there's a mudcrab back there that quite often pulls you out of stealth.

My only issue with writs other than the dwindling returns as you level, is the fact the quest description disappears when you're in craft mode. I constantly have to come out and recheck what I've to make. The provisioner one is the worst. I know it's a tonic ... Doesn't help when you have a bunch of kids putting you off firing off their AoE's every second.

Are the tier 10 mat drops still abysmal, like 1 per salvage or did they increase the number of mats received? Dropped the game for around 6 months and began from scratch on the PS4. I'm only mid way through silver so not reached that stage yet.

Last time out, i made myself gear using the tier 10 mats, then dropped all my crafting down to 9 again.
