I looted plants for Alchemy for about 3 hours and killed loads of skeletons and found only 1 (one) worm.

where did they all go? I need them for ocean fishing.

Zombies and Bloodfiends seem to drop more Worms than Skeletons do. Makes sense as a skeleton would not give much for a worm to chew on. Or whatever it is that worms do to eat.

@Nestor Earthworms eat dirt. Their nutrition comes from things in soil, such as decaying roots and leaves. Animal manures are an important food source for earthworms. They eat living organisms such as nematodes, protozoans, rotifers, bacteria, fungi in soil.

This is why they are found in zombies and under plants in game

Try the guild stores. In Xbox NA they go for the low, low price of about 9,000 per 200 stack.

If you have DLC's, I've been finding a lot in Hew's Bane. There seems to be a better than normal chance of finding them while harvesting and also in one of the delves (the tomb one nearest the city, can't think of the name sorry!) there are a load of carts towards the end where there's a better than even chance of getting one.

lol, I know that. I bought a bunch of worms to improve the soil in my yard.

What I am not sure of is, do they chew the dirt, slurp it up, gulp it up and swallow it, suck it up, lick it up, scoop it up with some kind of tongue or proboscis, that kind of thing.

Coldharbour zombies + those nest-thingies the zombies spawn around, I used to farm a ton of fish food there. Both crawlers and worms.

At the old grinding spot near The Everfull Flagon wayshrine... I heard the xp is nerfed, so people probably don't farm there that much.

@Nestor ok that one I had to look up but here is the answer on how they eat.

They don't have teeth but they have strong mouth muscles. Dew worms or nightcrawlers often surface at night to pull fallen leaves down into their burrow. When the leaf softens a little they pull off small bits to munch on. Worms also "swallow" soil as they burrow

I somehow got hold of massive quantities. Each alchemy plant and cloth node has a change to contain them. I get worms every 3-4 nodes. And crawlers about the same. I don't fish so I put them for sale in guild stores. They sell quite well.

Tried all the above mentioned places to farm me some worms but since dlc (think db) all zombies etc give me are Flesh fly larvae. Rarely worms. Not even plants are that good.
So what to do?! Need them worms or my dream of achieving the only worthwhile title (Master Angler) will remain unattainable.

There are other bait options out there you know lol. Torchbugs give insect parts and other various bugs do too.

If you kill small animals like frogs they drop guts you can use to fish as well.

I have tons of crawlers, guts and insectparts. The problem is I need to fish in ocean and for that you need worms. I can use the other baits but the chances are big to get "used bait" as worms are needed for the ocean.

Anyway thanks for the replies. The zombies in Alik'r give me nothing or crawlers. I will try again later. Someone already donated 100 worms to me so that's a nice gesture.

I don't think they used to be but since DB & annoying poison creation it appears that things that used to drop worms now mainly drop fleshfly larvae. Which is of no use to anglers (or anyone really).

Can we have the worms back please?

They are pretty expensive on PC. Sold a stack of 200 for about 3.5K. Only guts are more expensive, with roughly 6K per stack of 200, most likely because they're also used for Ozorga's triple trifle pockets which is a popular food. I'm on EU PC. I simply loot everything and when a stack forms I drop it on the guild store. Haven't really payed attention to the exact drop rate.

Probably they all went to Coldharbour with their king, Manimarco. If you fail to release him later in the main quest the worms don't return to Nirn either
