One Tamriel update from a crafter's perspective

We have not gotten anything even remotely useful to craft since Thief Guild update. Dark Brotherhood sets were entirely rubbish, Hist brought nothing craftable with it, and neither will we get any crafted sets in One Tam update.
To make it even worse, (purely from a crafter's perspective), we will get a million new sets as well as monster sets.

There are already several threads on the forums asking for motif change. As it is now, collecting motifs is about the most useless thing you can do with your time.

What we need:

- More crafted sets (that are actually useful). Most stuff I craft for others is base game like Hunding and Night Mother, rarely do I make Clever Alchemist and 1-2 other DLC sets. All the other new crafted sets are rubbish.
- Motif change! Wow, could we get this already? Why add a bunch of new motifs to the game each update when you get to use them on 5 pieces of your gear, tops? Don't taunt us with showcases of characters wearing 9 pieces of the same motif, when that is not possible in game, unless you want to gimp your character beyond uselessnes.
- Jewelcrafting. Nuff said. Crafting sets are already subpar to many found in game. Why not add jewelcrafting so you could finally wear 2 crafted sets at once.

You mean more options for people to get decent gear without having to endlessly run the same stupid dungeons over and over?

I believe we need the following for crafting:
removal of the lower limit of gear-cap on crafting materials. This would enable rubedite or quicksilver to be used to craft any gear cap item under their max. this is analogous to what they did with enchants and upper caps from potencies. I believe this helps with some of the wrinkles from whole world scaling of mats (which i LOVE) and that the naqrrow gear-cap limit for mats is a hold over from the now obsolete initial path of progression. keep the lower number of mats used to craft an item the same - so using rubedite to make iron level gear is wasteful but still possible.

Motif change for drop sets - sure.

Jewel crafting - I am on the fence about this one. that is a change. i used to be opposed. But with so many sets being added, my previous concerns about balance issues from wearing two full 5pc crafted sets is losing steam. HOWEVER, with all the stuff now being locked into BoP i want to wait and see what the actual net result of gear available turns out to be. It FEELS like less selling of the drop-sets due to BoP may actually boost crafted sets in prominence for those not farming the restricted content like mad.

More crafted sets - No matter how many sets they add there will alweays be maybe six people use that are "worth something" when viewed from a high end top gear perspective. So asking for more worth something sets is the equivalent of asking for more power. Adding more sets wont increase the number of sets used... just change what they are - IMO.

What i would like to see CONSIDERED is customization of crafted sets - rather than trying to add more and more combos.

Allow the crafter to replace ONE set bonus for the 2-3-4pc elements on a 5pc set with another element. So maybe magica rec could be swapped for max mag or spell resist or spell damage. Again ONE replacement per set and only for basic elements. With the numbers of dro-sets that have so many stacked bonuses now, it doesn't seem like its out of whack balance wise, at least not as much as it might have been before U12.

Not applicable to any set with fewer than 5pc and not applicable to the 5pc bonus itself.

granted from an End Game BiS perspective new sets may be irrelevant, but there is so much more to this game that end game,

i saw thread yesterday from people suggesting the introduction of (as they called them) 'worls sets'; sets that for example that increase pickpocketing chance, or increase the resources you aquire from nodes, or simply increasing walk speed after collecting a node.
ok this is a very niche audience and will unlikley be in high demand, thats said oblivion's foe has no demand, and yet for me is my go to set when creating a new character (soul trap hitting 100% stronger in a DLC zone makes leveling a walk in the park)

and what is some of the stations were converted into jewelry stations?
jewelry specific 3 piece crafted sets

or even and i have seen it suggested before, but new 9 trait sets, that require you equip 6, 7 or even 8 pieces, these sets would have to be amazing for people to even consider giving up their monster helms &/or Mael/Master weapons and would offer a huge boon to 9 trait crafters.

for as long as i have played this game the the 5 piece set, monster set, 3 piece jewerly set, mael/master weapon set up has dominated every build; recently the influx of improved/increased trial sets has brought a change... but it could go so much further, offer diversity, then maybe we as crafters would be asked to make the same old sets OVER & OVER again!

I feel some sets should be buffed greatly adding extra effects like double 3pc and 4pc bonuses example hundings night mother and a few others and be moved to 9 trait to make them rare and comparable to trial and dropped sets also maybe make 9 trait versions with similar effects like maybe a 9 trait hundings fury adds like 400 wep and a bonus 4-5% crit

I'm a 9 trait everything crafter and feel royally bent over and found in the alps by the dlc...

Other option I can see is allow crafters to apply weaker secondary trait that's like say half the full trait effect like sharpened and precise. Now also another idea allow crafted sets to have maybe a 6th and 7th pc effect. Or zos just give us jewlery crafting.

i agree completely that there is more to the game than end game. But the quote i was responding to put only the high end combat sets as useful and the others rubbish etc. I was speaking from that perspective - more sets wont help that -just shift to different names.

I know the thread you refer to and contributed options for it.

I dont see 9pc sets any time soon likely never.

But i think the reason the model you describe of monster plus maelstrom plus etc is so standard (as you shift to end gamr focus here, right?) Is because the mon and mael are so generally superior for dps (some heal) that they are almost for the end game high dps. Until crafted and dropped sets match them sob that not using them is not a drawback, that meta will continue.

And with the golden vendor selling those monsters and a lot more BOP, i dont see the practice declining.

sorry if my post was confusing, i was contiuing my thought from earlier re: instead of having 3 hunding for example introduce 2 new sets,

because i for 1 from a PvP point of view am BORED of fighting the same person over & over again, they may look diffrent, have a diffrent gamertag, and even be a different race but with them wearing the exact same gear, in the exact same trait, with their bars set up in the exact same way & their CP distributed exactly the same is it really a diffrent person? I have 2 x nine trait crafters with a third on the way...yeah, too much time on my hands.
I now don't even make on average a set a day for people in game, and they are the only sets I've been asked for in 2016.
I'm also wearing myself on my stamina guys 5 x Viper + 5 x Vice Cannon, and on my magic girl 5 x VD + 5 x Krag or Seducer, all including Gold Jewellry (Pvp set ups), & TBS with Guardian & Agility/Willpower for Pve.

So when a true crafter can make himself only 2 sets of end game gear, and has to trial/dungeon/farm/purchase the vast majority of his end game gear...well there's a serious issue with crafting Zos...

Sorry but your PVP fights wont be wearing "QoL" sets. they will be wearing some combo of the best six sets they can get.

Again, adding more sets to the PVP BIS end game combat style mix isn't gonna add variety - it will just shift to a new set of clones. That happens now, with most every balance update. look at how HA sets have moved into meta for pvp when just a few months ago it was all "nobody wears heavy evah!!!"

To clarify: once one tamriel launches EVERYONE will have access to 3x crafting stations for THE SAME SET.

So why not move 1x (new) dropped set from each zone to being a crafted set. I'm thinking specifically the most 'OP' sets (as decided by playerbase, NOT ZOS

Hell even just allow crafters to craft weapons of any 5x piece set, and have the weapons unobtainable in drops.

I think we need more new 3 pc unique bonuses

Here's some ideas I spit out

reduces cost of stam or magic skills by 3-5% increases crit dmg by 1-5%
    Adds 700-800 magicka and stam
    Aoe dmg + 10%
    Adds 7% elemental dmg
Adds x% additional crit per type of armorr worn?

Now imagine say a set with these new effects

Ex not suggesting change to this set

    Hundings rage

    2. Increased crit
    3. 5% crit dmg
    4. Increased crit
    5. Weapon dmg + 299

New set ideas crafted(arnor type geared towards in ()) all 8-9 trait

    Undaunted onslaught (medium)

    2. Adds stamina
    3. Adds 2.5% crit per type of armor worn
    (max 7.5%)
    4. Adds health
    5. Adds 224 weapon dmg and 8% weapon crit.

    Armored conquest (heavy)

    2. Adds armor
    3. Reduces all dmg received by 2% per type of armor worn (max 6%)
    4. Adds health
    5. Adds 4520 armor and spell resistance 6% of all dmg taken is reflected back at attackers

    Salvation priest (healer)

    2. Adds magicka recovery
    3. Reduces all dmg taken by 2% per type of armor worn
    4. Adds max magicka
    4. Adda max health
    5. Armor/ of all targets healed increased by 1200 5sec cooldown adds 186 spell dmg.

I know these need work but just ideas to help make better sets to craft

    Lunacy.

I personally think those who take the time to learn the traits deserve it as it takes a lot of waiting followed by grinding of materials as they require 120~150 per CP160 piece.

There are no 9-trait magic sets and the diversity is limited in terms of sets and piece combinations as OP has already said.

Obviously we must have been lied to by Paul Sage about the viability/quality of crafted items in ESO?

"Q: Is the gear we create on par with the highest level gear we can get from drops?

    A: Yes, or better."

Agreed that the recent crafted sets are a joke. Need to ad add a system for leveling ALL gear.

So we have 3 stations for majority of the crafted sets right? Ok. So..I have an idea.
One of them stays same. One of them grants opposite magicka/stamina bonus depending on the set, like stamina seducer, stamina magnus or magicka hundings. And the last one give both magicka and stamina bonus but at reduced rate.
