Not when the boss is dead before he gets to spawn.

First time doing vma last night, made it to round 4 with 9 deaths. It's not bad if you can figure out priories. I had to swap my skills around in round 3 to beat it. I don't remember the last time i used rapid regen and i put blade cloak on my magicka character to reduce aoe damage and stay away from her scream. Cake after that.

That's actually pretty good! I don't want to burst your bubble, but Stage 5 is probably the hardest of all vMA.

The only place you might die as much is at Stage 9 (the first time you go through it).

-Watch a walkthrough video (Deltia has a good one)
-Check Joy's guide
-Learn your kill priorities and stick to them.
-Use the Sigils.

Round 3, 4 & 5 of stage 5 are arguably the 3 hardest stages of the whole Arena, in my opinion.

Except, I have learned my lesson, after 23 runs : stick close enough to the boss to be able to interrupt and grab ghost before him, but not too close to be able to back off of his explosions.

Still sometime case A happens... Uggghhh RNG..

I've heard the ice stage with the troll is not fun. Havent watched any guides yet until i can get it with out sigils. Then I'll get pro tips and get competitive if I've got time away from pvp and trials.

The furthest I've gotten in regular MA is the stage with the floating ice platforms.

After getting a loading screen in the middle of the fight, I was horribly murdered to death (I was even doing quite well up until that point, I honestly surprised myself considering how much I was dreading attempting it)... then I abandoned the entire quest and haven't attempted it since.

I doubt I'm ever going to get to vet (at least until I get some better hardware, I guess), and while my desperate need to collect all the achievements is crying somewhere in the back of my head, I'm cool with that.

Vma is very dependant on good gear/skill setup.
Knowing the mechanics is very important even if it's something as little as killing the plants on Round 3.
Quicker things die the less you have to heal etc.

Look online and check what other stam blades are using to guide you.

To answer your friends I'm a Flawless Conqueror stam nightblade, originally a 2h/bow person (mainly pvp) and I kid you not on my 1st ever VMA attempt using dual wield (I never use these) instead of my trusty 2h I got flawless.
I even had 2 useless skills on my dps bar - Hunter (for crit) and the Dual wield major brutality move - well not useless but you can get both these buffs from a potion but I'm to cheap for that

OK, didn't have an issue until stage 5 last night. I've gotten him to 25% so much. But i thought, until watching a video today, that he would destroy that last platform. So i was fighting that last bit in the h20 lol. I feel like an idiot.

It was infuriating though. The burst these mobs can put out can 1 shot you. I'll get him tonight now that i know he doesn't collapse it at 25% and i have some time to execute before he does.

Gonna put more stun on my bar too.

Tip: Leave the platform with the shield sigil for last, and grab it after he breaks the second platform. Almost a guaranteed clear at that point.

That's a good tip.

With the Shield Sigil on, if you have enough DPS, you can just focus on the boss (when there are no ice breaking troll).
At this point, the boss is on a timer anyway. So you have to kill him before he breaks the ice. It's one of the good DPS check of VMA.

VMSA is like scrubbing all the toilets, bath tubs, and floors in someone else's house, just hoping they notice and give you something for it. Horrible experience with very little chance of any useful reward. RNG is killing the game.

Yes I know..
Took me 24 run to get my Sharpened Greatsword, which makes me somewhat lucky.
But when you consider this: ~34 hours (including my first run that took like 10 hours lol) to get this weapon is crazy.

I didn't get a single Sharpened anything in those previous 23 runs.

If RNG wasn't this painful, I would continue to run vMA for other sharpened gear. But now, after ~34 hours, I'm out of there.

I humbly suggest to ZOS that in Nov during the Orsinium anniversary they change VMA for a week so you can get tokens for each clear and you're able to purchase VMA weapons with RNG traits. I don't think this should be a permanent change, but it would revamp VMA for a week for sure!

What about an extra difficulty level, scale current veteran Maelstrom bit down and make a difficult version thats scaled up compared to current vet. Its about a year old now and could use an upgrade;) A token system is in general a good idea i think, not only for vet maelstrom
