This event isn't really for everyone. I'd recommend staying out of the sewers until the chaos subsides. What good is a double drop rate on skin and scamp if you're not getting a loot drop because you're not one of the top 12 dps? What good is double tel var gain if there's a ganker prowling every corner ready to steal them from you?

I've got my sights set for the halloween witch festival.

Try not to get too frustrated. That's how the IC ecosystem works. It's simply being amplified by the event.

Whats bad is it completely broken . only Top 12 DPs have even a remote chance of getting it. healers and tanks dont even bother going. To top it off the early exploiters of the CP system 900 plus CP have a seriious advantage over even the most skilled Player. then again those that exploited the CP system at its release are the top tier PVP players which makes it even worse. IC is beyond broken and bad . its why its empty unless ZOS does something chessy like this to get the PVE community to drop 60 dollars on a DLC they bought for two dungeons just to re buy it for skin and mount. Pfffft not only are they greedy but still have no diea how to fix the DPS meta game they created.

I LOVE Imperial city so much, but this anniversary thing is really silly, to go and spend forever joining a zerg and fighting another zerg... I don't like zergs, this is why I am on spellbreaker campaign in the first place!

I don't honestly care too much about the skin or the pet, my friend spent 3 hours there today and got the pet, and it is hideous, and the skin looks worse than my vampirism. For these reasons, I don't care in the least about the event in itself, but for much more complicated reasons, the event has caused a huge rift within my guild, which is kind of sad.... :disappointed:

Hmmmn the activity seems normal for a pvp zone when an event is going down. Those that do not need want the skin or stones will be there for the easy pickings. If you are a pve only type this event is not really for you. You don't like the odds of being lunch for the pvp crowd then do not go. No I do not think that the pve crowd deserves to have a an pvp free ic zone. Take yer lumps and have possibility of getting the prize or don't and no prize..... I am not saying this cause I am some rabid pvp nut either. I rarely pvp personally but it is part of the challenge in the ic zone if I go there I expect there to be a possibility of combat and I may lose.

This being said the area was not meant for huge zergs of people running through and if you and twenty others are all beating on the same thing it is probably going to end up with some not getting loot. Keep your group to eight at max and your group should get loot. This is of course provided you do not have a lot of high damage tag alongs but this is really for EVERY fight any where in the game. Sure you can end up with loot with up to twelve after that you just lower the odds of you getting anything at all. Limiting it to eight though keeps your group small enough that there are less stragglers easier to keep everyone together. You would have enough punch to do even molag bal fight. If you can not take him with eight then something is wrong with the group. Other then the possible challenge of opposing factions coming in to spoil the day the molag bal fight is not all that difficult and unless something has changed drastically it is the most difficult fight in the ic zone that is not instanced.

To start off, I'm primarily a PvE player, however this week so far has been an absolute blast in both PvE as PvP perspective. I'm really happy to see all the activity in IC. The problem though is that people feel entitled to the Molag Bal drops and the tel var stones they pick up on the way. And that's not how this game works(in any situation, look at the vMA weapon topics). If you are a PvE player and want to get the rare rewards prepare for some PvP because it's a hybrid environment! At least make sure you prepare yourself by crafting/buying impen gear and adjust your skills to PvP as well. Your PvE rotation is not gonna work there because well humans are kinda unpredictable!

@ To be fair, as far as events go, the jubilee anniversary cake thing has been the only other one. It's not like the game is full of PvE events (yet). After the Halloween thing it'll be 2:1 PvE too PvP. I think 2:1 would be a perfectly acceptable ratio for events, but I don't think either of us has any delusions that it will stay like that.

You're right. In reality, the skin is pretty awful looking. Some people are into looking like weathered zombies, but most of my characters try to look pretty (and unique, despite not many options). Still, I think one reason I was so bent on getting it, at first, was because it was a cosmetic item that could be acquired without having to pay real money. Once I accepted that I would never really use it, much like the skin from CoS, I was ok with not going into IC during the event.

IC is quite amazing imho yesterday i've gained 30k+ TV stones 40k+ AP i've had some good PVP action ( even if put only one flag per district is quite lame ) and even some fun PVE.
Due to the event is not only a gankfest and the ping is quite low ( for a pvp zone, never went above 100).

I'm all against a separate pve version cuz if you want the reward you need to risk something, the only thing that would make IC better is separate it from upper cyro and make some leaderboards.

It's never been great - but this, you're right, has made it worse. Just like the capture the flag bs that was introduced did. At least before that all the PVPers would hang out in the Arena district - now the d-baggery has been dissipated throughout the entire city.

We pay for this content - but can't use it. I'd love to go run the quests casually with my wife (we both have ESO+) but after a long horse ride from a random keep (since the other keeps are taken... don't get me even started on the fact you can pay for this content and have d-bags camping the entrances to stop you using what you paid for etc...) only to be ganked within seconds of trying to quest.

Its moronic. The devs need a rethink of this one...

    1) You need to have a direct wayshrine into the sewer base.

    2) There needs to be a strictly PVE only version of it.

So you're whining about a PvP dungeon having PvP in it?

I really don't understand all this crying. It's a game. The rules are clear and nobody forces you to join. If you dislike PvP that much - I don't frankly understand why - you should indeed stick to the strictly PvE areas of the DLC, namely the dungeons. I was strictly a PvE player for the first 8 months, not because I hate going against other players, but because I didn't have enough points to spec DD skills on my main, while keeping the tank and 6 profession max crafting specs. Sky shards in Craglorn, Cyrodiil and IC made it happen. The points I earned in PvP I only put in the specialized skill lines. At the beginning my char was so weak that I had no chance - dragon blood sucks as self heal. I had to literally spend gold for repair kits and repair walls to get the AP for advancement until I unlocked the rank needed to get Vigor. Now I can mix PvE and PvP in the same session and I'm glad IC exists so I can do it in the same place too.

I miss the the old arena district game style a lot... sure it was pvp at its most base dumb downed level - but it was also a lot of fun...used to love standing on top of the cages and shooting up to the EP platform or shooting EP in the back from the top of the cages...standing on the EP platform was a great place with great views to zap folks all day long from...AD used to have the spot outside the arena door to hang out at and harass everyone...with everyone bunched so close together it was a proxi det/VD wearers wet dream...oh yeah, at the time that door between the platforms used to activate about every 5 minutes - I remember collecting almost a full marksman set in one night...honestly, after playing there for a few months, combat in cyro was easy...

lots of stones, AP and xp...you could literally play in your sleep...oh well...nothing good ever stays the same :'(

IC is not for carebears. If you don't like it stay out.
I personally always liked IC, just because it has a higher level of danger than average PvP, where gankers are everywhere, Zerg trains run rampant and carebears get killed.

My Tel Var bank is overflowing at this point, so much so that I wish I had a crafting bag to store all the materials I've bought so I can actually buy more!

What I dislike is the spawn camping and the door camping.

Camping the spawn and ganking those heading out, or one of the doors, is taking advantage of a limitation in the structure of the game in order to literally ambush someone. With different programming, one could retreat from the caltrops/lightning/retribution destro ring of fire area attacks before going through the door and suddenly standing in it, now unable to activate the door to get out because of programming.

They say that the PvP vs. PvE mindset breeds toxicity. But there is no PvE where another player will actuvely gonout of their way to stop you from looting a corpse then prevent you entering. Yes, there is a toxicity and it comes from PvP players deliberately ruining peoples enjoyment for some sadistic pleasure

Gonna chime in right here, but what part of the Imperial City event affected PvP?

    - Double Drop rate of Tel'var... these come from PvE mobs. PvPers get them from players who got them from PvE mobs
    - Double Drop rate of Molag Bal's cosmetic goodies... again, another PvE mob
    - Crown Store sales on the Imperial City bundle/s

None of these have to do with PvP, except for the fact they're located in a PvP enabled zone. Calling the anniversary event a "PvP event" is a bit of a stretch, all it really has done is increase player count inside the city. And only really the max-level campaigns, mind you, Backwater Blade is the PC NA sub-50 and everything was controlled by one faction yet also completely deserted. I couldn't exploit it to farm Tel'var since I was a poor level 10 I don't know how to play yet :(

If they wanted to make it a PvP event, they would've doubled AP gains from PvP kills inside the city or something like that.

Imperial City was a PvP DLC, so events in the IC are PvP events. Just like there are NPCs and bosses in Cyro, and it is still a pvp area. Any event in Cyro / IC you can bet is a pvp oriented event.

Great concept - but the capture the flag nonsense (which was applied on the whims of a single post on these forums) along with this latest pandering has done it for me. I won't be returning to the Imperial City anymore - and if I let my ESO+ lapse, I won't be purchasing this DLC - which was once a MUST HAVE but now is a MUST NEVER PLAY!

    [edited for flaming]

Not really sure what you expected it to be. IC is a PvP zone. Are you upset that people are killing you? Then you shouldn't be there.

PvE players have gotten the majority of new content, IC is the small bit of content PvP players have received.

To be completely honest I've enjoyed this event. The sewers and city are actually lively for a change. Managed to make a good 100k stones on day one while having fun PvP'ing.

Unfortunately my internet has been down for the past two days so I haven't been able to farm more TV and tears. Hopefully I'll be right back at it tonight. I'll be glad to help you relieve some stones.

For a DLC to be out 1 year, is a disgrace how many bugs are still present. Yesterday i got sucked into 2 pieces of scenery on different occasions. Once i lost my Tel Var and the second lucky i escaped out of as i had 30k+.

Thats 3 places i know are bugged. Last time i emailed Zeni on this, CHET gave me 5 auto replies on the state of my computer and internet connection, while i am inside scenery in IC. Incompetent Z0$ team if IC is still filled with bugs.

I am avoiding Imperial City like the plague this week, though. I want to still enjoy it next week, so that means not doing it right now.

You're damn right, and I should have done the same.

I was looking forward to this event and I first thought "wow, this is how IC has always been meant to be played" : small groups, hide-and-seek tactics, gankers on top. Giant zerg chaos in the center underground.

Unfortunately, that did not last long.
    - PvPers organizing DUELS !! In there, this week !! With their "personal bodyguards" killing anyone else on sight (poor souls just wanted to help their same-colour-buddy"...). Guys, you have ALL OF CYRO for duelling. GTFO of IC with it. And killing people who just join the fight to help is not fair.
    - New form of entitlement regarding district bosses. They drop A LOT of stones, people don't want to share stones, so they want to solo those bosses. If you dare to even cast a mutagen near them, you'll be drowned in insults and accused of leeching. Guys, you know those are group bosses, right ? And you also know they are not "your own private mobs", right ? (If that happens to you, make sure you stick to the guy at all times for the next two hours, tagging all mobs along with him. Depending on your taste, you might or might not put him on ignore beforehand). This is a MMO, these are group mobs meant to be attacked in group.
    - Too big groups on Molag Bal, which attract the zergbombers (that's fair), and dilute the loot. Staying there for two hours for looting once is not fun.

I'll wait for next week to go back there, in the hope to find again the usual "IC morning atmosphere" : nice PvE + random 1v1 PvP where anything can happen, and where your opponent might be of any level.

But I've lost most if not all respect for PvPers, probably forever. When I compare what I experienced in IC these past few days, with the nice, extremely organized and friendly cooperation that happens every single day for world bosses in Worthgar or Gold Coast, this is just night and day.

Why would one grind? The game gives you plenty of XP from more enjoyable activities than mindlessly killing the same mobs over and over again. Once I got tricked in joining a group because I thought they will go somewhere, explore the sewers etc. I had just bought the DLC and wanted to do that, like every zone I've been in before. And instead they just ran in circles in the sewers, AoE-ing every trash mob somewhere near the DC base. After 15 minutes I called it quits because, frankly, I was bored to death gathering all those bones and junk items that dropped and seeing the same scenery over and over again. I also grouped 5-6 times for the Molag Bal event. It was utterly disappointing. There were 5-8 people in the group but the boss dropped just junk, just bones, scales, teeth, just like the generic trash mobs along the way. I wasn't even after the skin or scamp, but I expected something more from that boss, like some hakeijos, set items and such. I've amassed about 120K TV in the bank (average loss rate ~20%, mostly to gankers) but the sets that are on sale don't impress me much. They don't seem more effective than what I can already craft. Adding to the fact that some are in boxes with RNG involved makes them even less attractive.

So IMO IC is just a map for PvP and little more than that. If you go there just for the PvE ...

Everyone knows that people are out getting 100 stones from daedroth and getting teeth so it's easy money for me. I've flooded guild stores with cheap leather and silk, 17 stacks of each to be precise. It's been a profitable week, 30k gold just for that. Plus 3 robust agility rings for 155k each. I'm rich thank you.
