Food/Drink and Provisioning Passives

I have a stack of food, half of which was created by a friend. My friend doens't have the passive skills to add duration to the food/drink buff (20 minutes added with 3/3 skills). The other half of the food was created by myself, and I do have those passive skills.
When I use the food I am not getting the extra 20 minutes. Do the passive skills add the bonus to the food itself, or are they supposed to add the bonus to the character possessing the passive skills?
I can't figure out why I wouldn't be getting the extra 20 minutes unless the bonus is added to the food...and then strangely, the food in that stack of 80 some-odd pieces now are a mixing of normal duration and 20 minute bonueses.
Hope that makes sense. Any help out there?

✭✭✭✭✭Duration bonuses for foods, drinks and potions apply to the consumer. Even though it's a crafting passive, it has absolutely nothing to do with crafting (aside from the need to be at a certain crafting level to get those passives), and it doesn't matter if the crafter has the passive or not. If you have the Gourmand passives, then you should see the extra 20 minutes no matter what you eat. Or drink, but those are a separate passive, Connoisseur, from the one that increases food duration. So, if you want to buff both, then you need both passives.
So, if both of these stacks are Food, and you have L3 Gourmand, then any food should give you an extra 20 Minutes.

I can start taking screen shots of my characters if it would help. I have one character with the passive skills and that character doens't get the time bonus, and another character that does not have the passives and that character does get the time bonus.Sorcerer, Breton
