@joshjda lets not forget queuing as a two man group and getting thrown into a 5-man group for a 4-man dungeon causing either you or the other person you're with being kicked. Giving the person who's kicked a 15 minute timer to queue again, and if you're a nice player, the person who didn't get kicked leaves the group as to not complete the dungeon without your friend - giving that person a 15 minute timer to queue again.

It's stupid, that they force us to play with horrible players. When I use the group finder and am forced to group with Cp81 people or so, then I will instantly leave and I only get such lowies -.- This penalty should go.

with all the bugs with group/group finder down to the stupid name change of activity finder I can not believe they added this. It was already aggravating enough. Thanks for the bonus aggravation. ;)

...Your that guy who represents the demographic that is why the timer exists.

Way to friggin' argue why it -needs- to exist without meaning for it.

reading all the comments and other threads about the topic just make me cringe. What a big *** the group tool has become. And I think ZOS has no idea what to do.

The sad thing is that the simple grp tool that was at release of the game worked pretty well for a long time,it was simple but good. Then ZOS decided to add more features to it,and there you go,after that they have not managed to make it reliable again.Sad story.

Yeah the penalty seems to punish the innocents the most...

I just queued up for a random vet dungeon and got WGT.. clicked accept and before I could even fully port in, the healer and tank left group... now I am stuck with a 15 minute debuff!!

I just joined a group with a CP49 and CP531 in Mazzatun. The moment I got on, one person from the party dropped and the other quit. Now I'm stuck with a 15 minute timer. :(

there should be a penalty just not for everyone..To start there should be a accept or decline button going into the dungeon 3 declines or failed to hit acept 30min penalty ( STOP AFK ) if you leave the group it should be 30 min and the others in the group get no penalty and there should be no penalty for vote to disband and if your kicked from group no penalty... that all said more often than not i see sorc healers who cant heal dps queued as helers or tanks sorc tanks( TO GET FAST QUEUES ) blah blah the list goes on and on all because of this stupid class system.. so fail groups are usually the main cause of the 15min penalty .. Thus making the current penalty system just a joke !! YET they sit on there hands!!

The problem lies in there stubboness to be different WOW , FFXIV and im sure quite a few others have stuck to the simple but effective way of dungeons 1 tank that groups the mobs 1 healer that heals ( little dps if they can) and 2 dps to kill .. very simple very effective.. instead ZOS wanted to be diff with the classes so they could not regulate the classes queuing for the dungeons allowing for example a NB to queue as a healer because the class can wield a res staff .. obviously they will not and do not have the same healing skills as a templar thus not as effective!! yet still this is from my knowledge (even from the 4-5 months ive been playing eso) the main reason fail groups occur to much freedom you get a bunch of randoms dumped together to start is risky then add no specific class system and its just a recipe for fail!! more often than not!!

Last night a guildie queued us for the Selene pledge, and in the blink of an eye the thing went from looking for 2 more people to a 13 minute penalty to a 55 minute penalty. Something about queuing too many times.

It also wouldn't let him participate in a group queued by someone else. We had to throw out random invites into the guild roster hoping someone else was up for the dungeon, ended up running it with 3, 2 of which hadn't done it before.

These penalties need to be gone over with a fine tooth comb.

The simple solution would be to offer a grace period. There's no penalty for leaving one time, but if you leave twice within 5 minutes, it adds to the timer. This will protect people caught up in parties that may have serious issues, or like what happened to me, I join a party and it falls apart in 30 seconds leaving me screwed.

I've got 750CP, and I like joining parties at random to try to help people. I don't need the XP, the loot or the helms. I just enjoy doing random dungeons at times and helping people out. But the system as it is really screws people like me over.

@ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_JessicaFolsom Some QoL Activity Finder suggestions:
-Getting kicked should not incur a penalty.
-Disbanding should be disabled when using Activity Finder, or, made into a vote where at least three "yeses" are needed. One person should not be able to disband an entire group.
-Absolutely need a "do not join instance in progress" checkbox for people running pledges. It's pointless being called in for the last boss only to have to run the entire dungeon again. (Or to queue into another partially finished group, which is quite likely with the current tool.)
-Trials should be added back to Activity Finder come One Tamriel. If you want further gating, check out FFXIV's new Raid Finder--it's highly customizable and really good. Better than WoW's tools even.

    All the best!

Joining an in-progress group should give some the person who joined some kind of thank-you bonus (similar to the random dungeon bonus) when the dungeon is completed.

Otherwise, everyone will just turn the option off to do pledges and in-progress groups will never find a replacement.

Or credit for bosses killed already if your trying to complete the pledge, although that would be abused to all ends by players who don't actually want to play the game.

    Honestly speaking... who cares?

When you build a game and systems to attempt to force players to behave the small amount of problems which are fixed are replaced with a much larger problem. A good example is the topic of this thread the penalty for leaving a party.

Now most people like to play DPS the problem with that is DPS have a hard time getting into dungeons quickly. There are a lot of DPS out there. So it stinks when a tank or a healer leaves a dungeon. After all they can easily rejoin a dungeon leaving a long wait for DPS. Lets penalize them. We will force them to tank and heal so we can have fun.

The problem with that is personally if someone does not want to play with me I do not want to play with them. Maybe they hate my gear, my CP, my race/class/playstyle or the fact my character has a Mohawk. Either way it doesn't matter we both pay and log onto the game to have our own version of fun. Neither one of us owes the other more than to be civil and drop out.

Of course the fix is to try and force us to group together which is not really fun, but if we don't there is that fifteen minute waiting time.

P.S: I am the sort of person which was mentioned in a previous post that will drop out of a group and have fun doing something else. The timer doesn't punish me. I'll have fun running a dungeon or another activity.

    I agree.

If queue penalties are something needed to discourage people who quit immediately if they don't get a random they want or for whatever other reason, they should wait to implement them until all the frequent and annoying grouping glitches are fixed.

Having them now just adds insult to injury.

My nightblade healer laughs at your assumptions. :-P

And my sorc healer as well, actually.

If I use the group finder I accept the fact that I may group with low level players and/or players who don't have a lot of experience, but I will do my best to have the group succeed. If you are not willing to do that, then form the group in zone or guild and queue with a fully formed group. Problem solved.
