Is It Really Worth It...?

So with the Silks of the Sun set being scaled to CP160, is it truly worth investing in for a magicka DK? I mean nowadays, you have sets like: Julianos, Scathing Mage, Twice-Born Star, Moondancer, Infallible Mage, etc. And with jewelry being best with 3pcs. that grant Minor Slayer, OR a set like Willpower — can Silks of the Sun truly hold-up to these sets, and is it worth even being bothered with it? I remember how glorious it was during the "Golden Age" of ESO, but I don't know anymore if it's so glorious nowadays. Help anyone?

Perhaps on a Dunmer magicka DK.

I run 5x Silks of the Sun 5x Julianos on my Fire Templar (Dunmer). Reflective Light / DoT build. I've hit 23k-27k DPS with a solid rotation in 4-man vet dungeons, and hover around 18k-20k if I'm also the group's healer. 100% ranged, no jabs. Very easy to keep DPS up on mobile fights because of the DoT DPS.

A really solid set for DoT-heavy magicka builds in my opinion.

So on a Dunmer DK, Silks of the Sun would outperform those other sets?

    Short answer:

For PvP Yes, for PvE No.

Hm... And why would it not work from a PVE perspective, if you don't mind me asking. Is it because the sets I previously listed outclasses it? ._.

You could compare it statwise to wearing 2 piece kena and 3 piece will power.
Now the Willpower and kena combo with overkill on nets you 500 more magicka and 173 higher spell damage, but the sun set does give 1000 more health.
Now the uptime of 5 pieces sun set is 100% uptime. While you would have to proc kena and deal with the increased cost. Although the stats are higher on kena and will power the 100% uptime of sun may even result in more dps.

I have not tested this yet, this is just a comparison between the 2 set ups.
I do think the new 5 piece is stronger than the old.

Current group PvE meta is focused on high crit chance and crit damage supported by horns , penetrations ,percentage value group buffs like infaible 5th piece , combat prayer minor berserk etc. Spell dmg and max resource are not at the 1st place to buff now. You'll get hit increased by something like 5-10% with additional spell dmg and with additional spell crit and crit dmg You'll have chance to get hit increased by 70-100%. Crit works much better with DoT effects and DoT are pretty essential now for almost every DD build including mDK.

    This.

There is maybe one exception from the rules for Nightblades (maybe for pet sorcs too, if there is any usable build for that in PvE):

    Necropotence :-)

I hope they change the Spell Power Cure effect leech from the shadows soon.

That's why I said ,,for almost every DD". I havnt tested necropotence in real fights on PvE yet and I am affaraid it cannot beat current mag nb and sorc after results i had on PTS tests but due to fact i have not tested it in the more extended way i leaved free spot for those 2 builds.

Necropotence is pretty amazing. My MagSorc uses it, and is currently about to hit 60k max magicka. It's ridiculous. It's really ridiculous.

Also, thanks for the information about my question, guys. ^_^
