We face an uphill battle with the mDK class currently. But here is my build that I hope helps fellow mDK'ers get back into cyrodil and feel like they are doing a little more than the usual. Enjoy and by all means post your comments. Getting knowledge out to our community is important.

Been thinking about trading in my Syrabane's set for Silks of the Sun. Nice build man. I love playing MagDK!

Nice build man, may I ask your tooltip damage on lash with everything buffed? (The base damage not the power lash)

Currently leveling up a DK and theory crafting something a bit different for him.

Am about to try something different as jewelry is too expensive atm.

So I ll have to go 5 light armor.

At least I ll hit harder and will have a nice regen but will be squishy.

    Am gonna try.

    1H/Resto.

    5/4 sun/3 willpower/4magnus.

Resto wont have flame abilities ofc.

    Or

    4/5sun/ 5 Transmut/2 Skoria.

Your setup is nice but I think you loose too much magicka wich negates in a way the sun spell power gain.

You coul be at 38/40k magicka, Your at 35k wich means roughly a 300 loss.

35k Magicka is fine for PvP

@Vanzen yeh I agree it is possible to get mag pool higher but for my play style I need that other resources to be more. If there are players who are more diciplined than I am with managing Stam pool, they could definitely get their mag pool higher. But even keeping them as they are now...having 30k health 17k Stam 35k magic 27k spell resist 22k phy resist and have a whip hit non crit for 5495 against a 19k spell resist opponent is nice.

You say in the video that unchained applies to roll dodging - are you sure? (did you test it?) Because it says it reduces cost of stamina abilities, which i understand are quickslotted, manually activated stam abilities, not everything that consumes stamina(or so i thought).

If it really reduces roll dodge cost then that's a fairly major piece of info i've been missing (since roll dodging after a break free is a very good idea in general).

And a nice build, btw. I was also thinking of doing this but the sun jewelry is prohibitively expensive and i don't do PvE so...

I had a friend tell me it did affect the roll dodge due to it eating ur Stam pool. If it doesn't I hope someone on here can straighten me out. If it does not my apologies for putting out incorrect info.

    Thanks bro

This is a pretty cool setup, thanks for sharing it. I was considering combining Silks of the Sun with Black Rose and Engine Guardian or Blood Spawn. Any thoughts on that? I haven't tried it out yet but it sounds viable in my head. I recently put together a full-heavy stam build with Pelinal's on my stam sorc, and the amount of sustain and survivability makes it easy for me to harass but still tough to kill. In that setup I sit around 3.1k WD/SD and near both resistance caps on both bars. My thoughts were that building in a similar fashion but with Black Rose instead would make up for the lack of mobility on my magDK, and without sacrificing the heavy damage potential (especially if using 1H&S on one bar and stacking Wrath).

Thanks man. I plan on trying BR with SotS later as well (looking for a SotS shield here reinforced/divine or infused cough cough). Seems like it would be a good set up to use.

Out of interest, if you're using pelinals what Magicka abilites were you using? I'm planning on attempting something similar on the DK I'm currently leveling, any recommendations if using pelinals? I'm going for medium because the 12% damage increase, may also include Dawnbreaker I'm just getting the gear together ready for when he reaches 50.

As for bloodspawn vs engine Guardian, I'd go bloodspawn because it seems the best set for DKs, the ulti gen is important because we regain resources through ultimates. But if you're near the resistance cap then engine Guardian may be better because the resistance bonus from bloodspawn won't be as useful.

Well I don't want to derail the thread, but the primary reason for equitable SD is for WW self-healing. Aside from that the SD doesn't really matter. Other magicka-based skills I use in my setup do not rely on SD to be effective, such as Rune Prison and Dark Deal. The setup itself is designed around stamina and WD. The 5set of Pelinel's could be substituted for something that affords even higher WD and stamina, but the point of the build is not to be a glass cannon. The idea stems from using the inherent advantages of WW to boost my stats in that form, and design the rest of the build around sustain with a focus on WD.

The idea stems from this build and all credit goes to the author. The only real difference between what's outlined in that guide and what I do is race/class, since I play on Breton Sorc and the guide is designed for a Redguard Templar.

As for utilizing it on a DK, I believe Pelinel's will be of significantly higher value in terms of damage output as it scales with SD. It is very likely that such a build will involve using more offensive skills than I use in mine. A friend of mine who strictly pvps runs Pelinel's on his DK and he sees WD/SD both north of 5k. I know very little of the details surrounding his setup, only that it works very well for him.

If you wish to discuss further please send me a private message so we don't derail this topic. :)

Makes me wonder about a Alchemist / Pelinals setup to get burst up for 5K WD / SD...hmm I'll have to play around with it on a spreadsheet...

The only benefit I got from the Julianos was a slight SD increase over Kags and some crit. I lost so much on resource management wearing it in PVP on heavy. I just couldn't make it work right.

I wish I had decent dragons blood. It would make switching to light armor a much easier choice.

Anyone running with anything else they find helpful and working?

I've been testing desert rose the past few days for sustain with lower regen and I'm really liking it. I have about ~1270 regen with 30 points into arcanist and 50 into magician and don't have sustain issues for the most part. That's without the atro mundus and blood spawn. I was using 5 desert rose, 5 kags, and willpower 1h/s. I'm going to try 5 rose, 5 sun, and 2 blood spawn if I can find the sun pieces.

The Normal trial for HRC is not too bad and drops the same CR gear as a Veteran mode HRC. If you can get some guildies together I highly encourage it. I took members of my PVP guild in and they did just fine. Some HF never done a single trial before. Open their world up to trials and many like doing them now.
