I'm not interested in such things as mounts, so none. While I'm not especially keen on the whole idea of lockboxes that simply means I won't be using them, it's not a reason for me to stop playing the game and I'm happy for those who want to use them.

I daresay no one (or few) wants to use them, they just want the stuff that's in them and they give in to the gamble boxes because there's no other way to obtain what's in them. Perhaps merely semantics, perhaps not.

With you, I am not planning on using them, but I don't think it's a very classy way to sell products, and since it's in ZOS' interests to make them as attractive as possible, there will undoubtedly come a day when I'll be annoyed because something I kinda want is only obtainable through an RNG system designed to not let me get what I want.

      zero!
Despite allready having the Highland wolf, I might even be tempted to buy that datamined white wolf - if it was sold for a reasonable price in the store with 100% guarantee that I actually get that wolf: no potions, xp boost, tasty crown foods, refreshing drinks, repair kits, soul gems, not even a nice outfit/pet/another mount.

But: I got no gambling problems so I just might rarely buy a box now and then IF, and only if items are not gated behind these boxes.
I like cosmetics, and if cosmetics from the Crownstore are "retired from the store" , to "make room for more stock" cough, meaning they will retire into these boxes and never be seen for straight purchase again, I´m going to boycott the boxes on principal.

I`d rather the boxes did not exist at all cause some people do have problems and get overboard with these things, plus I find this kind of marketing cheesy and tasteless. But if they really have to be, at least make them so that everything in them is also available to buy in the store, and the boxes are just a way to try ones luck at getting items cheaper.
And if old "exlusive" items are to be brought back, they could be brought back for a limited straight purchase and limited gamble box offer simultaniously.

Even tho I think that all the hate towards this boxes is pretty shallow and stupid. I wouldn't buy anyone of them.

The hate is backed by prior experience with these mechanics in other titles. If I wanted to play a game with lockboxes, I'd log into STO.

I'm not sure if you are aware of it yet, they are cosmetic only you know? They don't affect the gameplay at all! Like none. It would be a predatory model if they add p2w itens, which is not the case.

Different items effect (affect?) people's enjoyment of a game differently. Personally for me, I would actually hate this idea less if it was VMSA weapons in those lockboxes (no, don't take that out of context, I don't think it's a good idea to ever put weapons etc. in the crown store, just making a point here), as that wouldn't matter at all to me. I don't play competitively, the rare times I PvP it really doesn't matter - that person will kill me with or without a fancy weapon (lol). I thing I DO love about the game is being able to change my outfit to fit the mood, change my mount to match the scenery and mission etc. So for me, I care much more about cosmetic items being locked away behind a lottery box. It doesn't change competitive play, but it does affect how I play the game.

      ^ This.

However, if these exclusive mounts are actually the skeleton ones, I don't really care cause they are ugly and I wouldn't buy them anyway. But I'm really sad that I will never have a chance to get the Frostmare if so-called RNG boxes will be the only way to get the previously released limited time offers. I'm not only angry and sad, I'm extremely disappointed with the direction in which the clown store goes... It frightens me that the people who created the game I love so much, they are now killing it. If these are the same people at all...

I would need to know EXACT odds of these rare items to make an informed decision. Just knowing they are a possibility without knowing what that possibility is would be a foolish gamble. As of right now with the assumption that no odds will be given by ZoS, my number is zero boxes.

Some would argue that any gamble is a foolish gamble. ;) I mean, knowing the odds doesn't really let you know where you'll wind up on the standard distribution if you go through and make the purchases.

I am pretty certain that you would have a better chance stumbling blind-folded through a large mine field and survive than to get that rare mount, which you want, from those RNG boxes. And with this I do not mean with just one box, but as well if you buy hundreds of them, the chance that you'll get what you want is minimal with these type of boxes -. that is what they want you to do, buy hundreds of boxes over time, without to ever get what you really want.

It's the typical lottery scheme - how many dream of the jack pot just because someone is winning it every time - but they forget that millions of people are playing the game and that an individual would have to play for a couple of thousand years to have a good chance to win the jack pot - the illusion to be the winner is there and makes people believe into unrealistic expectations, whilst it is not any likely in a life time and not even in the life time of 100 generations to come. The average lottery participant will at most win something of low value, which is worth less than what the tickets costed him/her.

No option for zero, poll is invalid.

In fairness to the OP, it isn't an invalid poll, nor is it skewed. It's simply a poll of those who intend to use the lockboxes so that it doesn't apply to those who don't intend to use them. Your option would be covered by a different poll asking if you would ever use lockboxes and if so how many you'd be willing to buy to get what you wanted. This is not that poll although you're free to make your own of course.

Well, it's more a useful way to use those odd 400 crowns that I sometimes have left over if I have found something to buy from the store - I do admit that I buy riding lessons for my chars when theres little else that attracts me. And hey, I might get a costume that I possibly won't wear or a mount that I am unlikely to use, but it doesn't bother me that much.

Its the same as those odd occassions when I am out in town, find myself with a pound spare (UK), and for the sheer hell of it, buy a lottery scratch card. I probably buy maybe 3 a year at an absolute push.

Actually, I wonder if they will put Riding lessons in the boxes? I always have a char that can use them, and they would be a useful item.

This is related to housing coming - before that is going live, ZOS has to make subscribers spend their crown allotments on the RNG boxes - so that subscribers will be out of crowns when housing is coming and they have to buy new crowns, if they want a house. And these boxes are ideal for it - they will just swallow your crowns while giving nothing of real value back - a very effective sink hole for your crowns - a randomized trash bin.

Actually this is a predatory model in essence. They are trying to milk every penny from weak players, that instead buying at fixed price an item in the store, will spend much much more gambling.
Why not selling this things in the store? In their view there are addictive personalities playing their game, and they are trying to make a bigger revenue from them.

If they didn't think to increase their income with this move, they wouldn't have done it.

Besides, in my view, in the epic e mystical tamriel there is no place for this kind of boxes. It's lore breaking.

If I am to buy one of those, I won't buy them to get one specific item as I know I have better chances not to get it, I will buy them to see what "surprise" I will get out of it, that way I am not disappointed and won't dangerously emptied my wallet. But I need much more informations about those crown crates before setting my mind on the matter.

Sure thing: I won't waste my money buying a lot of them and ruin me just to get one useless cosmetic item in a game, even in a game that I love as much as ESO.

If I have spare crowns from my sub not spent, I might buy one once in a while but that's all. I understand the frustration from the collectors and the concern about people loosing a lot of money because of gambling addiction and so on but, as for me, I gave up in having all the shiny things I want a long time ago as I cannot afford them all, sometimes you have choices to make.

I'm not for those cartes nor against them, I'm more in a wait and see stance for now.

My vote would also be zero.

Honestly, the exclusive mount from the RNG boxes is going to become the new "whale tag" in the game.

Whenever someone shows off the mount, most people are not going to think "Oh, they are so lucky! I'm jealous!"

They are instead going to think, "There's an idiot who bought into ZOS's RNG gambling strategy."
