So with the SotH launch, a lot of the old sets were scaled to CP160/VR16 finally. Meaning sets like: Silks of the Sun, Necropotence, etc. all finally got their well-deserves increase in level/rank. But, why is it that people are scrambling all over for Necropotence? Lol. I don't get it. I overheard a conversation with 2 of my buddies, and heard that he bought an arcane ring of Necropotence for 500k. And everyone in my group said that was a steal, as they're selling for 750k and higher.
Do people not realize that Necropotence is a set that is primarily built for pet builds, although it can be used for 4pcs. for max magicka? Lol. I'm hearing conversations all over of how Necropotence is the new meta for magicka builds, and how it replaces: Julianos, Scathing Mage, TBS, etc. And as a person who's mained pet builds for a long time — this disturbs me.
I was ridiculed for using pet builds for as long as I can remember, and when people saw videos and streams of me doing content like Vet Maelstrom with it — I was mocked heavily. I was laughed at, and told it was impossible. And how I was getting my clears through luck. When in fact, pet builds have always been quite strong and heavily underestimated. Every since Day 1. But now, Necropotence is all the rage? What? Why? ._.
not so hard to understand, theres many overpowered combinations like x5 necro, x5 elegance + overload
It's because they believe, that this set finally makes pet builds viable.
But then they realize, that it only offers ~1500 more magicka than the V12 version and that is mainly due to the possibility to add max level enchants and infused and divine.
The 5 piece set bonus is actually even weaker in some situations.
Anyway, this set does not make any noticeable difference to what it was before. Pet builds aren't any better now.
But.... I saw the Update 12 monster sets. There is something for summoners.

So Necropotence, Infaillible Aether, Elegance, etc.. all these are FOTM.
I didn't know NB shades counted as pets, so I learned something useful.

Assassin's Will can reach insane values: Molag Kena, Alchemist, Necropotence.
The 4k 5 piece bonus is already equivalent to approx 380 Spell Damage.
But compared to for example Julianos, Necropotence does not waste the 2 and 4 piece bonus on Spell Critical, which is not needed because you can use Shadowy Disguise to get your 100% crit chance.
That means 1934 more Magicka, good for an equivalent effect of 180 Spell Damage.
The total buff on Magicka stats is better than Major and Minor Sorcery together on SD. NB's get 8% from the passive Magicka Flood, 10% from the right Racial, and 20% from 177 CP's in the Mage.
