From my understanding, one can turn off dual for PVE zones. "Auto-decline for dueling" is an options in the menu.

This is good news to me, though I suspect there won't be a setting to auto-ignore the trolls who will spam the chat afterwards with insults, name-calling etc. for not taking time away from whatever I actually wanted to do to dual them. That will probably still need to be done manually.

I like it, for the gameplay it brings and even the theme it provides. Haven't you ever seen a Musketeer movie or read the books? Think of it like that if you feel like its breaking your immersion.

Nice idea, but I'll stick with how I remember it in WoW thanks - a slightly closer analogy!

I have no ingame problem with dueling as long as it is restricted to arenas or other special areas, and there's an effective auto-decline option. Forum-wise it's another matter as I'd hate to see this forum dominated by a mass of individual threads all calling for balancing changes as a result of losing duels.

Maybe I'm crazy, but I don't think duelers want to duel with lag. They are likely to find more out of the way places to duel. At least I know I will. I'm not going to duel by the Stormhaven wayshrine or in a bank for instance.

Wont change a thing since we already have PvP. People will complain as they always have.
Again, people saying we should not have duels because they do not like PvP are showing behaviour that is detrimental to the game and the community.

That's likely to be true for those who are going dueling with a friend, but it won't cover those who are just spamming out challenges in crowded places because they don't have any friends to pre-arrange duels with

I don't know if that was aimed at my post which immediately preceded yours and which called for duels to be held in arenas or other special areas, but in case it was I can confirm that as a PvEer opposed to PvP in PvE zones I have never in over 2 years been to Cyrodiil or Imperial City.

Either you're sarcastic, don't know you don't have to participate in duels, or you're so terrified of seeing players fighting each other that you probably never set food once in cyrodiil or the imperial city. I say this as someone who doesn't normally enjoy PvP but I'm happy for duels existing, will help players teach combat mechanics I would assume.

It should actually be fun. I cant wait for all those who forget to turn off attack innocents and get slaughtered by the guards.

First, I'm 99% sure that the OP isn't serious.

Second, as someone who primarily plays endgame PvE and only a little bit of PvP, dueling is actually pretty exciting. It allows for casual PvP with friends, and I can see it as a gateway drug to "real" PvP. Imagine two friends who PvE together and don't PvP. They can get together on a whim and fight each other just for fun, to try things out, to get a taste of PvP with no pressure and they can, at their own pace, experience aspects of fighting other players.

As long as there is an auto-reject all duel offers, because I am not at all interested in participating, I think it's fine. I'll enjoy watching folks duel- I can already imagine The Rosy Lion on a Fredas, alive with drunken brawls.

Same here, I have no intention of dueling, and i want to make sure the auto-reject feature works. I don't wanna go harvesting and have to constantly reject a duel invite from a person who just follows me around to be a troll.

Or a complete opt out function or something.

But yeah i'd love to watch others go at it. Wait that sounded a bit... LOL

I would prefer it was out of the way, available in some predetermined spot, but at least I can auto decline.

I really am a PvE Carebear and I really do loathe the idea of having pvp intrude on the world PvE, but since the decision is out of my hand c'est la vie.
