to all of you, who run VMSA 200+ times to get one specific item, have fun running it again 200+ times... (irony)
That would just suck.
Increasing the gear cap has many benefits. For instance u could introduce new content requires u to have 180 cp, and only way to acquire would grind those dungeons. Make it so crafting doesn't increase. Though that would make pvpers unhappy, unless they add bg's with a new currency to buy pvp gear. People complain about balance, honestly in my mmo experience the way to balance toons is to separate pve from pvp. Can be down with with different gear set. Also increasing gear cap gives the economy a boost. U can be against it and threat to quit, but million and millions did it every 3 to 6 months in wow and many other mmo's. Its going happen probably sooner than u think, dont always believe, what devs say. They can do whatever and say whatever. Date to watch for November 2nd
If you think the game is unbalanced now, just wait till there's CP 3600 Gear in the game down the road. Try going up against someone with CP 3600 and matching gear while your at CP 160...... Even if your in a No CP Campaign, theres NO way you will stand a chance.
Tbh i think they will increase the gear cap soon however i think thry will let u increase your gear in some way maybe through crafting at a cost of base mats, but u keep level and enchants
Right now in PvP, everyone is running around in CP160 gear. They raise the cap to CP180, guess what, everyone is running around in CP180 gear. What is the difference?

Give players something to do that different, better sets more power. u have to evolve, mmo's is growing living experience.
the next cap could be CP200... or 300.. you cant be sure its CP180 :P
From all the farmer and grinders, raising cap wouldn't hurt console that much. But what u going when u have all sets u want to yellow? Anything is done? People will quit more over that then rise of gear cap.
Golding up a whole set to think that set will need replaced would annoy me , considering the time it takes to get mats , temps, wax etc.
Have you played any other MMO before? This is typically what happens in most MMOs... you grind for gear, get the best you can, and a couple months later the the next DLC is released and better gear is offered, so you grind for your next set of gear. Without some type of 'incentive' or something to work for, many players get bored and leave. Gear grind is one thing that most MMO players are accustomed to and look forward to- a sense of working towards something. With ESO as it is now, for PvE questers, the only thing you have to look forward to after you max gear, is another quest... and another quest... and another quest. That's all good except after awhile you being to lose any sense of actual accomplishment... what am I working for here? At least with gear grinding, I can be saving money for mats, or grinding crafting nodes, etc. WHILE questing.
