This is the only character I wished to change. I don't have a male character and now I do, however due to changing the gender you cant change the name without forking out another 14 quid. I cant imagine anyone wanting to change their character every day!!

Offered the option to change your Appearance, and race, yes fine! Name change is an extra charge it should be included. Or like Laced said it should be cheaper.

Name to the flavour of the month? Like, when a new Pirates of the Caribean movie comes out we all wanna name our characters Jack Sparrow?

Race to the flavour of the month? Like when ZOS does a balance update that affects racial passives? If that's their concern, they should do better to remove racial passives.

I never understood this defence of the pricepoint. Race or name change has no bearing on anyone but the player involved, so saying they can't because of some flavour of the month is nonsense. People said it affects who queues up for dungeons or who they meet in PvP. Even if the effect of the flavour of the month was that large (and I doubt it), race and especially name are some of the most inconsequential factors - people can change gear and skill sets indefinitely for in-game gold, which is a much bigger deal playstylewise.

I came to the conclusion that the high price is to stop people from abusing this feature - some people are just jerks and choose inappropriate names and some are freaks, which could use that to harass and pester other players. In such cases GM intervention is required and wherever staff is involved this drives costs higher - I still think the price is unreasonable, but it could not be cheap by these reasons as well.

Why not make it cheap and limit the change to every 90 days, for example.

I think the only way i'm gonna change my blokes name from "Narisana" is if there is a sale on. haha In all honesty name changes should be around 500 crowns at least. No more, and yes there should be a limit on when you change your name, for example you can't change it within 90 days. perhaps if you change it again the cost goes up to 1000 crowns. Something like that. It is to expensive the way it is now.

You do realize there is a "race AND name change" pack, right? You basically get the name change for 500 Crowns when purchasing the race change for 3000, so for 3500 Crown you can change your name AND race. While I do see the standalone name change as being WAY overpriced, this is exactly why I stocked up when they had a Crown sale... so now everything I buy with those discounted Crowns comes out to a 40% discount. It always amazes me though whenever they have a Crown sale, how many people refuse to buy the discounted Crowns, but then later complain about the high prices. If people don't like the high prices, then buy Crowns when they're on sale and pay less for items in the store.

Yep I know there was a pack, however I did not have enough crowns on me to do the giant pack, and I always buy the discounted crowns when they are up, if people refuse to buy them when they are on sale that's their loss. It still does not help the fact that the name change on its own is so damn expensive. I have never complained on here about anything I understand the crown store has expensive things, but mounts and most things are worth paying for. But the name change price was a shocker.

Well, with discounted Crowns the name change comes out to 1500 Crown, over at DCUO, a name change is $10... so they're close to the same price range when using discounted Crowns.

When things are too expensive for me in real life I either save up for them or realilze that it isn't worth the money or effort to acquire.

It is too expensive. If I want to change my Argonian's name from Hides-All-Bodies to Loves-Dead-Hookers, then it shouldn't be $40.

Don't buy it then, you don't need to change your name.
