The Stormproof requirement for Trial guilds is stupid

What about people who tank or heal VDSA but have never felt like putting the time into single player content?

Would a healer Running Aether, spellpowercure and a master resto staff be turned away?

    Yes, that would be nonsensical.

But the OP wasn't applying as a healer or tank, and there's no indication that this requirement was ever intended for any role other than DD.

It's not dumb. Nobody wants you if you can't play exceptionally well. Failing missions because of horrible players gets to be annoying. I agree with those measures to prove your mettle, which then encourages players to build hybrids, that everyone ridiculously seem to think aren't viable.

Once again, VMSA is one of many things you can use to screen someone. Once again, even completing it on a non tank or healer is beneficial. It forces you to learn how to not die while sustaining damage.

You're more likely to not die to popcorn while healing or turning a damn cone aoe on to your group as a tank because you've grown to understand situational awareness.

    -one of many indicators-

I find it humorous that the majority of people complaining about this are refusing to see the 'one of many' caveats offered, and further pressing on the subject has almost without variation turned into 'I don't want to/can't do it'.

I'd like to add that the last boss of the new VDSA is a beautiful indicator of a tank's ability to survive since ideally, the tank is spending large stretches of the fight isolated from the rest of the group. I plan on making it a test for new tanks on the trial team moving forward.

They've probably found it to be a pretty good metric for what they're looking for in a player. A lot of guilds want people who have either done the work of creating a good build, or done the research of copying a good one, and who then will follow through and achieve something notable in the game. You might be able to complete the content they're running without all that, but you might not be the kind of player they want to run with.

Let me say this again. How is my solo capability (Healing myself and self sustaining) determine me DPsing a trial while there is a healer and support?

Vmsa is a test of a players reaction times to mechanics, ability to learn, concentration for extended durations, understanding of class andd build specifics and generall ability ingame. Thats why.

Is the Stormproof achievement the perfect thing, to determine how good or bad someone performs in a raid group? No.
But it shows, that one is able to learn mechanics and do at least some DPS. And it also shows, that this specific person is able to obtain Maelstrom weapons or already have them.

At the end of the day, every guild can set their own requirements. If you don't find guilds with requirements, that you think are reasonable, create your own guild.
