Filthy stinking siege stealers!!

I've had someone jump on my siege during the reload cycle that I was using to perform a quick repair, and the person didn't fire it at all.

Some red ebonhart pact player using their aldmeri dominion alt to keep me from raining cold fire ballista on the EP flappy wings outside the wall.

I put the siege down, it recognizes me as the owner because only I am allowed to pick it back up. Therefore, I want to always have the option to 'use' the siege regardless of whether someone else is on it or not.

They should simply implement a kick off feature so if someone gets on your siege you can simply click a button to kick them off. The same button that you use to put away.

There's no such thing as "siege stealing" as siege engines are meant to be run as a team, one person on the siege, the other casting Siege Shield, repairing the siege, keeping caltrops down and watching for those nightblades.

Excuse me? As long as I am the one paying for the siege then it is siege stealing unless of course ZOS wants to hand them out for free!!

You seriously sound extremely snobby throughout this entire thread. It's 1k ap, not 10k or 100k. Please get off your high horse and stop acting like it is life or death. My mother taught me how to share 28 years ago so I have no problem letting others use my siege.

Lolll not trying to be snobby or sound snobby (sorry, but the tone of wriiten text is often misread).
With that said, i don't mind sharing but out right taking things that you did not purchase just gets under my skin sometimes. I also might be slightly more annoyed right now due to all the crashes on xbox one... That also result in me losing a lot of siege weapons.

Just last night had to hop off siege to heal and fight off some attackers. Came back to find someone else on my siege. They hopped right off when I was ready to get back on. Thanks for keeping it warm and giving it to them while I was away!

That happened to me today. I NEVER do open-world PvP. Most of my experience in PvP is in the arena district in IC, but that was killed by district capture. = (

However, I really needed to get vigor on my stamDK for a hybrid build I am working on. She had level 4 Support/Assault. It took me like 3-5 hours of zerg surfing and mutugen spamming to get to 5. (I have no shame in what I did.) So I didn't have a lot of AP to spend on siege, but I bought some to be helpful. I didn't want to be that person who just stands around while others siege. I got about 5 of them. First time I took part in a keep capture, I set one down and had to leave it to fend off an attacker. When I came back someone had taken it and moved it, treating it like their own. Ok... This happened twice more.

I agree that it's part of a team effort to bring down the keep, but what I didn't like was that they 'put' the siege away after we finished and kept it. = ( It made my small stash run out really fast. Siege is weird. PvP keep capture is weird. xD

It does not work that way, if they were able to move the siege to another spot or put it away then it was there siege.... Only the person who owns the siege can move it or put it away. Most likely your siege decayed or was destroyed while you were busy.

But good for you on trying to help by buying your own siege to use!!!

I had somebody tonight jump on my stone treble with the quickness and turn it from the wall on to players who just dodged it. Normally not a big deal, but in this situation I had no room to put down another and continue to help the fight. I would love an option to reclaim control in some situations.

I think what would be more useful would be an optional flag that you could set to let others know you're putting down siege weapons with the intention that others can and should use them. Because some people DO put down siege in the hopes that randoms or guildies will join in. So if there was an option for each character like 'hide helmet' for 'display free-for-all siege banner'...

Planetside 2 had settings for making vehicles group-only but it lead to a lot of people setting it AFTER you were already inside because they wanted the gunner seat and couldn't be bothered to just politely ask you to move. Thereby kicking you out of the vehicle and forcing you to run on foot all the way to the next fight because everyone else had already left. :\ There's no perfect solution unfortunately. Someone's always going to be rude.

Maybe its best to just educate new players in here to let them know that if you see a siege and nobody is on it... it is likely because an exp player knows to shoot, release, buff, reconnect, shoot. So, if you see a siege with nobody around it then just give it a second or two to see if anyone is actually in the middle of buffing/healing.

The most annoying to me when it comes to siege... is siege placement. Someone always comes to the top of a tower and plops down a fire balista in the middle of the floor (/facepalm) The preferred siege for a corner tower is likely three stone trebs in a triangle formation. Why? more damage to the wall!

A total lockout of your siege would result in more unused siege lying around. A better idea would be to let you boot people off your siege when you attempt to use it again. That way when you're not on the siege others can still use it however when you want to, you can regain control of it.

Doesn't fix the problem of newbies jumping on your siege and turning it 180 to fire at that one nightblade skulking around at your rear though. :D

Being a newbie to PvP and actually having destroyed the enemy pact's siege weapon or two was very gratifying! Took a bit of time, but after constant consecutive bombardments at that siege weapon and watching its health getting lower and lower and finally dissipate, it was like, "Yeah, get some!" Also, it was more gratifying when that siege operator and other players in its immediate vicinity were also taken out. PvP is brutal!

Only time a siege stealer bothers me is when I have my three trebuchets positioned perfectly in a triangle able to run to each without having to wait for any to reload after shooting.

    Siege 1 - woosh,
    siege 2 - woosh
    siege 3 - woosh

Siege 1 - little baby level has it. *sighs* runs over to siege two to wait for the second weapon to reload.

I'll sometimes put down another trebuchet if I feel like they are determined to keep mine but usually they find siege boring I guess and run away eventually. Or try to steal my others lol. Thank god for streak in times like that.

Yeah I think a lock out feature could be abused... therefore I kind of like what others have suggested and that is a kick/take back option for all siege.

Gurrrr.. not sure what happened with this post but I quoted the wrong persons.. sorry!!
