Why does changing the waters reflection quality change my graphics setting to custom?

Is it actually changing the graphics setting, if so, why?
My computer should have no problem with running water relfective quality at high, as I often run this setting on high such as other games, example; I have shadows and water reflectivity high on The Sims 4, and it doesn't change the graphics settings.

✭✭There are predefined overall graphics quality settings, e.g. Low, Medium, High, or Ultra-High. These overall settings default to certain values of all subordinated settings, like water reflection quality. Once you start manually changing these subordinate settings, your overall graphics quality deviates from these defaults and becomes "custom".

Ah, but is it actually changing the graphics or is custom just the default label your graphic settings go to when you alter other certain settings?0 -

✭✭It's just a label for your custom changes from the predefined defaults, hence the name.
