I spent 4 hours trying to complete a five piece armor set through guild vendors . A whole day's play time on a weekend .

I hate trying to gear all my characters because of this.

I agree so much but it seems shopping immersion is very important in this game . Immerse yourself in all the traveling pleasure . I need to find a role player that can go shopping for me .

This is absolutely NO excuse to have a miserable search engine on the Guild Traders; have you ever spent hours scouring through the epic motif list to find that one page you've been looking for? It's pure madness, and leads to the same.

Would it REALLY inconvenience the programmers that much to add an alphabetical sort?

    @Morimizo

Yes, the Guild Trader interface needs some work. I won't use the stock one. However the OP is asking for an Auction House to try and save time on buying things, that is not going to happen.

I don't want an auction of ANY kind; that only artificially raises prices and extends the time it takes to buy even the simplest thing like a piece of garlic. No thanks.

What I need is a decent sort, and for each store I visit to remember the last search parameters I entered. I really don't mind touring the different stores like a medieval bazaar, but please, ffs, even a 2nd century vendor in Persia (without a computer--think of the ancientness!!) would know what his/her stock was and where to find it, and you wouldn't have to give a thesis presentation to explain what product you were looking to buy.

Um I did not ask for an auction house. Please fully read my original post.

Having a global listing of all items being sold by all guild kiosks is the same thing as an Auction House as far as it's effect on the economy.

How would a search option telling you that "X armor" is located at Atin in Wayrest, effect the economy what so ever??????

I do like the current system, but it could be a little more helpful with good sorting, definitely. Also, without breaking the immersion they could add limited search by having a travelling merchant in each zone tell you where the closest GT for a given item is.

That's because no one thought outside the box. The ring can't be destroyed but they didn't say anything about pouring molten iron on it to fill the finger hole and encase it in an iron bar, sail out a bit to sea then toss it in...done. His minions don't do water and if it's deep enough and hidden in metal, it will never be retrieved...if it was then the metal would've fused to the ring and ruined it.

No need for an epic, life threatening quest :p

You know, I played another MMO that had what basically was ESOs trader system.

In that MMO you could search where in the world the guild city (and thus the trader) is located.

Once you travelled to that city you could search the trader instead of clicking through 1000000 pages.

That MMO was called Anarchy Online and came out 15 years ago. 15 years ago was a time when "smartphones" looked like this:

And yet, looking at ESOs interface I somehow think we have moved back even further in time.
    ESO Balance:
“All skills are equal, but some skills are more equal than others.”

You could just use my solution for using guild traders.

Don't. Give up. It's a waste of time.

You will never find it anyway, and you have to page through 20+ pages to verify they aren't even selling what you want.

After trying the guild trader shuffle, this is the method that allows me to best enjoy the game, because I actually have time to play it.

    If I don't have it, and I can't make it, I don't use it.

I stopped trying to sell things on guild traders, too. Two months listing valuable things at half off, got mailed back from one trader so listed it in another, time ran out on that one, too.

So I am not the only person who has given up on the guild trader shuffle.

I would love to see a global search feature like Everquest has or how FFXIV had before they added the auction house.

I just spent 2 hours trying to find a decent level 40 staff for my sorcerer, only to give up. It seems like I'd better learn crafting if I want specific gear.

They do this so you won't easily aquifer he best gear possible.

This is not what I think it was almost exactly what a ZOS employee said in an interview its been linked on the found several times.

    Basic paraphrased response;

"We found that in games with one centralized selling location or auction house players were able to obtain the best gear to quickly. This is not something we wanted in ESO."

It's an old quote, don't even know if the employee still works for the company or has moved onto other games but the philosophy seems to still be he same.

I've spent hours on PS4 looking for a precise daggers or axes of viper sting and still haven't found them either because they drop rea rely or no one is selling them.

While a few more options like say a zone search would be nice, I'm not complaining because its those who put forth the effort that are rewarded. if you just stand around say Mournhold and expect those 5 traders to have everything you are severely limiting yourself.

Don't like the time it takes? Then don't "waste" your time, get a group and farm it yourself.

I will say one thing to those remote vendors out in the middle of no where........GET A CLUE. You people should be worth finding because you will offer DEALS. You know what I universally find however? Bloated and horribly overpriced items. You do know this pricing model only works out in the real world when you are the only one for 100 miles with a store, goods and gas. In ESP all you do is spend a few secs getting to the Wayshrine and *poof* you can be in the "cheaper" city.

    Hey hey hey...

Doesn't even have to be a zone search engine.

A search engine for the specific trader you're dealing with

Or a way to weed out the 50000000 mercenary motifs

Another awsome feature that EQ and FFXIV 1.0 had was the ability to set up a "buyer" trader. For example, if I need 100 iron ore and I'm willing to offer 10 gold each, I can just set up a buyer to sit there and players can sell to it while I'm offline or doing something else.

GW2 has a similar feature, but they have a global auction house so it kind of doesn't work as well since the only reason you'd set up a buyer in that situation is if you're not willing to pay the AH's going rate.

Anyway, I think being able to set up a guild buyer would benefit the economy and the players like me who find it so difficult to find what we're looking for under the current system that we just give up.
