Request to Veterans in Low Level Areas - Let the low level players play

Please let the low level players have the kills, you get nothing for them and we are still working our way up.
It is very much a game killer after finally having worked out how to kill something then veteran level 5xx comes in one hit takes out your target - when you are playing in your first dungeon after the starter areas.
Or your waiting for a creature to respawn as a mission item then wham 2xx comes steaming through and kills everything in sight.

A CP whatever sorcerer with both pets out at a level 7 dolmen is the worst.
And oh look, his CP whatever sorcerer friend came along with his pets, too.
    That's a /sitchair situation right there.

Yeah, I don't get this mentality. If you're high CP and there are any level-appropriate players in the dungeon or dark anchor with you - DO NOT MOW DOWN everything in sight. Throw out heals and a light attack here and there. Be considerate!

I had to give up on NA for exactly this reason. I don't know why all these incredibly high level players are galvanting about in the starter zones slaughtering everything and everybody and the rest of us that are starting out characters are left with nothing.

Not only that, but, because they know the areas so well, the take every resource and trunk as well.

Oh well. I'll stick with EU, I guess. At least there it's not overwhelmed with the veterans all the time.

Even if I throw in heals on my high level it wouldn't be fun for the low levels. They would het healed full with a weak heal and get over confident in the long run lol

i always ignore the lowbies unless i see them in trouble -- in which case i will wait til they get a couple hits and then kill whatever they are having a problem with.

I always heal at dolmens if lowbies are around. I take one or two resto shots at the boss. The only time I clear it is if I am alone and I switch to resto if anyone shows up. It's just common courtesy. I'm just there to chase the General's achievement.

when i go into the starter zone on a new toon ( esp in a delve ) i always wait if someone is around for them to make sure im not taking their exp away... ill LA the boss just to make sure i get the achievement as well... its just being polite... if im on my main getting mats and i come across people at a dolmen i'll do /sitchair and just watch for a bit

I'm missing a few public dungeon bosses from previous zones and I was wondering what the etiquette is if I go back – just healing and a light attack or two makes sense.

Personally, if I'm in a zone with low level people doing group bosses that I missed when I was the right level, I will do one or two hits on the boss and then swap to healing bar and keep the lower level people alive. Help out with the odd bow attack if things are going pear shaped

That's what I do. Tap with a light attack and throw Heals.

People show up and go, "Oh, NVM..." and I tell them "Just here for the clear. Will let you have the fun."

I'm of the light-attack-and-heals variety when I need to go pick up achievements in low-level zones, but lowbies please at least give vets a chance to not be a jerk. I was doing the light-attack-and-heals strategy in a low-level public dungeon once and had a lowbie completely freak out on me in zone chat, swearing and calling me all sorts of horrible names just because I was present in the dungeon.

Needless to say the next ten minutes of that guy's life contained no XP :naughty: Don't taunt the bear guys :innocent:

The etiquette has become trickier since the conversion to CP- at least in silver and gold zones. My 531 sorc was level 50, yesterday, and has two full alliances worth of dolmens to do.

I've been trying to do them all solo, but I always pull back a bit if a lower level player joins me- usually at the last round- and they pop all my pinions while I take down the remaining mobs.

I think in some cases, the annoyance cuts both ways.

If you just don't stand back and watch the higher level and get hits in you will also get credit.
Some are just going back for achievements they missed the first time through.
This is an MMO after all and everyone has equal rights.
Of course there will always be a few bad eggs.

have to admit... ive run into pretty much the same situation.... if the "vet" isnt being a jerk and u treat them like a jerk then HUGE chance that the next "few" minutes wont be too enjoyable

I did 3 laps of the dolmens in deshaan last night trying to get the last general I need for this zone. Whenever there were any low level players I just threw out a buff every now and again and just stood there so they could do it. I got 2 generals out of the 9 dolmens but not the one I was after :-( NB even when there were 5 or 6 low level players it took significantly longer than when I was on my own one shotting everything. If I go a few more runs without getting it I could see myself deciding to start doing them as quickly as I can until I do get it whether there are low level players there or not. I'll apologise now for if this happens, I don't mean to be a d1ck, rng made me do it! I've still got 2 more I need in shadowfen and 3 in the rift as well but once I'm done I wont be touching the low level dolmens again

That makes no sense: if you are 5 levels above an enemy NPC, you get no XP or loot from it. Also, the boss rare drops have no real value (other than for decon materials).

Drops scale to level - how could he get something for a low level friend, that item would have his level.

Reminds me of a long ago experience..

Was running around greenshade to get my shadow mundus.. Got side tracked to the world atro zone boss due to runestones and me spacing out.

Lo and behold. I saw this fierce little lowbie nb pucker up and ambush the boss. He was 4 levels below the content so I knew he was dead meat. He lasted exactly 3 seconds before atro put him in the ground with his AOE. He rezzes on the spot and is unfazed. He drinks a pot and does exactly what he did before and ambushes into the boss. And again he goes down in about 5 seconds. This time tho, he manage to avoid at least some of the AOE.

At this point im like o.0 wow this is what someone learning looks like. Since I had some time on my hands and it was a lazy sat afternoon, I sat there for a bit and watched as this cute little kitty NB went up against the boss over and over for about 8 times. After that, he didnt rez for about 10 seconds. I knew this was because he was prolly out of soul gems and was now trying to figure out the whole concept of needing soul gems to rez at the same spot... I rush over and give him a rez so the poor thing dosent need to run all the way back from wayshrine.

He gets up and waves. Undeterred, he sneaks up again towards boss, ready to ambush to his death once more..... I give myself a face palm, and throw the ranged taunt on boss and hold block. He takes a full minute and a half or so to kill this boss..... He dodge rolls most of the AOEs, desperately trying to stay alive etc. Damn he was like doing a 1 man trial. Eventually boss goes down and this dude is ecstatic. He rolls around me couple of times and goes "meoooow" in all chat. I give him a wave and get on my way.

The end. Moral of the story: I dont really know.... Just prolly wasted 2 mins of ur time cos u read this. But it is a true story and it kinda shows us that being nice to people sometimes feels good when they appreciate it Hhahahahahaa~

And so tonight I am in Bleakrock Isle - a level 2 to 5 zone
A level 2xx is going around killing everything in sight.
Missed a skyshard and looking to complete the collection - fair enough who hasn't done that.
Forgot to rescue a skeever on the way - fair enough.
Ruin the game for new players??

    It is beyond selfish.

For the record, if you are grouped with someone who participated in the kill, and close enough that you would have gotten xp (if you didn't outlevel the boss so much) you get credit for the kill even if you were in your menu the whole time. (I found this out during a guild event with an unfortunately timed phone call. :D)

I believe you also get credit if you heal someone who was injured by the boss, regardless of your grouping status, although I have not had a chance to personally verify this.

In other words, if the lowbies offer you a group invite (or you invite them) you don't have to do ANYTHING except hang around. So there's another option, too.
