Clockwork city is alluded to at the end of the Wrothgar main quest, it's not just a level in Maelstrom.

You sure? Clockwork City looks like it was meant to be a dungeon or a trial or something like that. While I do admit that Stage 2 (and Stage 4) in Maelstrom is inspired by the Clockwork City, I don't think that its the actual thing. If Clockwork City were merely Stage 2 and 4 of Maelstrom, then the Realm of Mephala would be Stage 6... Cradle of Shadows might be it. But what did you expect? An actual zone with quests and everything? Murkmire will surely be one, but Clockwork City and Realm Of Mephala seem like they are instances rather than areas.

What proof do you have that indicates or explains that these areas are no longer in development? Some of the zones that where featured in that video are part of the game today. I would believe based on that track record that the rest if even not in their original form would be part of the game in the future.

And for the record, you should've noticed that Cradle of Shadows is quite different from what we see in the Mephala's Realm clip.

Cradle of Shadows uses assets of Mephala's Realm (since we literally see her realm of Oblivion) and it looks awesome, but is not the Mephala's Realm DLC. It's painfully obvious

I messaged a certain Dev about some stuff as well as Spellcrafting awhile ago. After rereading my message and the response, it looks like I've misinterpreted that part of the response this whole time :hushed: big let down....

Thank you for calling me out on that. Not sure I would've caught my mistake until 1st-2nd quarter 2017 came along and I'd thought I was lied too. Editing that out of my post!

Everything else is 100% concrete truth. No release dates however :/

I am very skeptical about what the future DLCs will be like; wasn't the Grand One quoted as saying that what players want is smaller, more frequent content, rather than zones like Wrothgar? The only thing regarding 2017 that I've seen is Housing.

So, like Shadows of the Hist, we will receive an enormous amount of expensive items added to the Crown Store, and very little new playable content, if any.

But, by all means, dream a colossal dream, everyone.

We have literally datamined locations from the entire island of Vvardenfell.

100% guaranteed based on multiple sources for each provided by ZOS:
    • Vvardenfell
    • Mephala's Realm
    • Murkmire
    • Clockwork City
    • Spellcrafting
    • Player Housing
    • Battlegrounds PvP

Thing is, we are probably talking about a timeframe of 2 years for this all to release. For now, just worry about 4th quarter 2016. I have a feeling one of the big DLCs will release Q4 2016 or Q1 2017 :)

    http://www.ign.com/articles/2016/06/15/e3-2016-the-elder-scrolls-online-to-receive-new-dungeons-customisation-and-housing-dlc

Firor says that Zenimax is aiming to release multiple, smaller DLC packs to cater to players who return to the game intermittently, creating something akin to 'episodes' for the game:

"It’s interesting to see what happens when you take away the subscription model away," Firor explained. "You don’t see a hardcore playstyle - like playing for six months and then quitting - we don’t see that. We have a lot of players who will play for two or three weeks because they want to get through a zone and then stop. Then they come back two months later for another month, because there’s no pressure to play all of it at once.

"Our DLC packs cater to that, because they’re smaller, bite-size chunks of story and associated quests."

So in other words, nowhere at all did he say that they're not going to do more zones like Wrothgar, he instead described why the current model (including Wrothgar) is successful. Gotcha.

You mean that infamous statement by good old Matt Firor!

"We have a lot of players who will play for two or three weeks because they want to get through a zone and then stop. Then they come back two months later for another month, because there’s no pressure to play all of it at once."
"Our DLC packs cater to that, because they’re smaller, bite-size chunks of story and associated quests."

It was in an interview with IGN. (http://m.ign.com/articles/2016/06/15/e3-2016-the-elder-scrolls-online-to-receive-new-dungeons-customisation-and-housing-dlc).

They're catering to a certain population now. This means they are most likely going to focus on small packs of content in-between big releases.

We had Imperial City (medium), Orsinium (large), TG (small), DB (small) since console launched.

DLCs announced in the past are obviously coming because we saw:
    1) Glimpses in Orsinium and SotH DLCs
    2) Literal trailers of the zones -_-
    3) They had no problem creating Vvardenfell recently, which was never announced. We datamined it, and is Orsinium-sized (large), negating the logic of large DLC no longer happening.

I think what Matt was saying, was they were going to release lots of small DLC to fill in their Quarterly DLC promise, releasing the big packs (Vvardenfell, Murmire, Mephala's Realm, Clockwork City, future stuff) overtime in a slower manner.

If legit trailers displaying the content isn't propf enough, I'm afraid I cannot convince you :disappointed:

I will point out that quote DOES imply that most DLC will be small, like the dungeon pack we just got.

I will also point out, though, that it doesn't say that is the ONLY kind of DLC they will release. It doesn't say "We will only be releasing 'DLC packs' from now on."

My interpretation is that most DLC will be the small packs, but occasionally they will do a bigger one. Not this year, of course. But someday.

Have you run the dungeon yet? Listen to the dialogue at the end, and read the loremaster archive about it.
Mephala is plotting something along with two other Daedric Princes, as warned about by Varen at the end of Orsinium. The loremaster's archive article states "but this pales in comparison to what is to come" and also at the end of Cradle of Shadows, it's hinted that this is merely the start of what is to come from Mephala.

Point is, this was probably another hint of sorts of what is yet to pass.

I'm not sure what to understand by the quote

"You don’t see a hardcore playstyle - like playing for six months and then quitting - we don’t see that. We have a lot of players who will play for two or three weeks because they want to get through a zone and then stop. Then they come back two months later for another month, because there’s no pressure to play all of it at once.

"Our DLC packs cater to that, because they’re smaller, bite-size chunks of story and associated quests."

Even casual players like me can complete the Wrothgar main quest in a couple of weeks - and there is still more to come back to later. Though now there is only the repeatable tasks.

So does he mean that "big" DLC like Wrothgar are the way to go?

I wouldn't call Wrothgar that big, but it is certainly bigger than a couple of 4 man trials. So I can understand that some people think that what he really means is "small" DLCs of just a couple of trials or so.

However, that doesn't really fit in with the idea of "casual" player (or at least not "hardcore"), who might be more interested in questing DLC.

As for Clockwork City... they've been talking about that for years. If it isn't substantial then I imagine a lot of people will leave.

No as I haven't taken this how you have.

It seems ZOS has decided to release very small DLC increments of content and charge $14+ for each to make $60 off what other games would present as DLC.

Until we hear things not being released, I'm of the opinion that it'll take 2 years before we see anything completely from that video. This companies development time and quality is very far below a standard that many of us are use to.

Give it a lot more time

Devil's advocate: Mephala's Realm and Murkmire assets appearing in other areas of the game isn't necessarily them hinting at it being a future DLC, but rather that they're reusing assets from possibly scrapped zones to cut down on costs.
