Practicing for vMA in non-vet MA?

I am leveling an alt specifically for vet Maelstrom arena. I have done non-vet Maelstrom on my main. I know that vet Maelstrom is way harder than non-vet. Does it make sense to "practice" Maelstrom on the non-vet version as I level my alt? Are the mechanics wildly different? Thanks for your help.

✭Actually, testing dps in vet dungeon runs worked for me... Imagine 4man solo etc. Have to crank out dps while keeping yourself alive etc.5 -

✭✭✭✭✭The mechanics are mostly the same, but the gap in difficulty is far too wide.
Normal Maelstrom while naked (no jewelry, no armor, just your weapon) is still much easier than vet. That's how big of a difficulty gap you're looking at.
It could be good practice if you artificially handicapped yourself (e.g., running it naked), but you're really better off just running and practicing on vet.Edited by code65536 on August 2, 2016 2:56PMNightfighters ― PC/NA and PC/EU

✭✭✭✭✭Normal Maelstrom Arena will help you get familiar with where the enemies and bosses spawn, some mechanics, etc.
However, Veteran Maelstrom Arena is a totally different beast.
In Veteran Mode:
• More health on enemies
• More damage dealt to you by enemies
• Many mechanics you shrugged off in Normal become disastrous in Veteran (poison bulb, ice platform break, etc).
• Veteran Maelstrom Arena is 100% a different beast from Normal Maelstrom Arena.
• Normal Maelstrom Arena will barely prepare you for Veteran Maelstrom Arena.
• Purple-Gold CP160 gear is required
• You must have a firm grasp on how your character plays and good reaction time to stand a chance.
• 300CP is the "must have" amount.
• 300-400CP is the "you can do it now" range,
• 400-500CP is the "CPs are not an excuse" range
