Okay, so to reference your own material (http://tamrielfoundry.com/topic/pts-2-1-2-sorcerer-arithmagic/), the Nord Bonus is considering a Defender Bonus, and therefore applied like you just described, before mitigation. Thereby giving you an effective 53% mitigation, instead of 50%. This extra 3% would then of course get higher, as your mitigation gets lower. Correct?

I am actually changing for the Health Rec. So it is either Orc or Nord.
The 5% healing taken/received synergizes better than extra stam for me, but the 6% resistance vs 10% sprint is the dealbreaker for me. Will be changing to Nord.
But RD is crap. Would take 6% mitigation any day.

Remember all healing is halved, so straight away it becomes rubbish in PvP.
So what it's 6% you say? Now it's 3% say you have 25k HP then 3% = 750 health, and you have a 10% chance to restore that. I'll take the mitigation all day.

In my opinion though it's not the best for DPS anyway...
But the reality is any race can be viable, careless of your build / goals.
Order of impact: Player > Gear/Build > Race
EDIT: And regarding OP, I probably wouldn't pay 3k crowns to change race and would stay with Imperial as it's perfectly viable for what he's trying to accomplish.
But if he wanted to change, I have to suggested an Orc, unless he really doesn't care about movement speed and extra melee damage or couldn't stand the look of an Orc.

Oh I completely agree, when it comes to DPS, you can do better with other races. I'm perfectly happy with people underestimating Nords though
