Pricing policy in guild traders

Seeking some feedback as to how much guild administrators interfere with members pricing of goods. Do you leave it for the members to sort out or do you tell people their prices are too low (or maybe too high)?

Example: if I wish to sell something that I can buy for 10k in 4 out of 5 traders who stock it, but the cheapest someone has it for in my guild is 12k, should I be forced to offer it for 12k so I am not undercutting my guild mate or am I within my rights to sell it for less to better match the going rate elsewhere?

I consider myself as someone who would rather sell things at a price that moves than have items sit in the store for 3 weeks or remain unsold. In the above scenario I think it would be wrong for me to offer that item at 8k, but selling an item at the going market rate should not be wrong just because someone else wants a higher price.

I suspect there may be differing views, just trying to get some constructive feedback on whether my logic if correct or not.

I sell it at prices that will sell.

if guild decides thats no good and boots me, thats the problem with the guild, NOT you. Your not specifically 'undercutting' your guild mates(negative they see) but instead your INCREASING foot traffic to YOUR guild trader(Positive they NEVER see)

don't worry about it unless your really being a tool (IE like stories a while back with dupers who were selling tempers for 2k each for a few days to unload thousands of them)

I leave it to the individuals to set pricing but most will ask to get a ballpark figure as on PC we have addons to assist. In most cases there is already an idea what something is worth. Rosin (gold woodworking mat) is usually between 2k and 2.5k, getting as low as 1.8k. Tempering Alloys are always expensive but are generally over 6k.

Pacrooti's Hirelings is my Trade Guild and we're casual. I don't interfere with my members pricing and I don't believe undercutting hurts anyone. It creates a market where people buy your low priced items and resell it for higher prices. If they want *** sitting in their sales que for long periods for a little extra profit, that's on them.

The fundamental structure of ESO's trading system is around the ability to undercut in different stores to develop a dynamic and capitalist style of economy... mirroring the real world to some degree... by having so many separate and geographically distant traders.

So undercut away... though as you say, go TOO low and the item will just get picked up by a 'flipper' who will then sell it on at market value and make a profit on you marking up too low.

    Tis a tricky balancing act.

But my experience is there is more profit to be had by going slightly under value & shifting higher quantities of items.

I'm in a large trading guild and I've never seen anyone be told they couldn't list something at a certain price.

It's a game; people shouldn't take it so seriously. People should price things however they want, and the market will sort itself out.

Besides, as a trade guild GM, there are a lot of other things to worry about, like fundraising for each week's bids. Why on earth would I waste time and effort on nonsense like price policing?
