New characters Start on the Beginners Island Again like they did back in Beta. Now with a Wayshrine Link to the Mainland.

When was this changed back and why?

1-2 patches back, and the why seems obvious - new players did not know they should go back there and got overwhelmed with 7th level quests on their 3rd level characters.

With Dark brotherhood dlc it was changed back. From what I understand.
I could be wrong but I believe it was dark brotherhood they changed it back.

Don't see it as a big deal ... you can still port to the first starter zone.

Seems pointless reverting it back due to Level and Quest confusion when One Tamriel is coming out in a few Months.

Starter Islands
Upon completing or skipping the tutorial (Wailing Prison), new characters will now appear on the starter island for their alliance: Bleakrock Isle for Ebonheart Pact characters, Khenarthi’s Roost for Aldmeri Dominion characters, and Stros M’Kai for Daggerfall Covenant characters. You can take a boat from your starter island to your alliance’s first major city, at any time.

As it should have been from the beginning!

It was like that at the beginning. But it was changed part way through Open beta. It's not a big deal at all adn the change is fine it just really took me off Guard is all. XD

OT comes in a few months, reverted was a few months back = combined over half a year worth of (not)confused new players. Seems worth it to me. Not to mention that even with OT, new players would be missing some content/the beginning of the story.

It makes more sense starting on the starter islands, because thats where you where fished out most likely near them.

Also one Tamerial, they may open up all areas, but still you would start out in the faction you have choosen starting island when coming out of coldhabour. So there would be three possible starting points just that there is really no faction barrier. Thus you can go to ad/dc/ep lands and talk with their players and quest together if you wanted. You would no longer be bound faction wise thats all they are removing. They are also scaling every zone like the dlc content. So it will be more challenging for players that are low level.

@Mashille I know, I was in Beta. But the actual release of the game had it in that knotted mess wherein we land on the island and are IMMEDIATELY shipped off, still unconscious, to the next town over, and then have to back track to get our tutorial level.

It was an irritation for the people who knew about it, and confusing for the people who didn't--and the latter group were the ones who needed the tutorial!

Sorry, I'm ranting. It's been a sore spot since release and I'm happy they finally reverted that.

Agreed. It was a quick and lazy change that really messed with a lot of people who were just trying to figure things out.

It makes sense from a story-telling and plot consistency point of view, so it is the right move. That change during the beta was one of their biggest mistakes during the beta phase.
