Hey,
I was just curious to know if anyone played with one handed sword but no shield. It looks cool but I never seen anyone play with it, probably because it is not practical.

Without a proper skill line, it is impractical. I've suggested a draft of one a long time ago, but genuine one handed swordsmen have not seen relevant skill lines since TESIV: Oblivion, when a shield was actually an option.

It's weird though. Mad queen ayrenn

is holding a 1h sword and using a spell at the same time on the cover art.
Also the blueberry hero

is using a 1h in the cinematic trailer.

I'm currently playing with a orc templar healer, what do you guys reccomend? dual wield or shield and sword?

You also get ALL the benefits of the S&B passives as if you would wear both your Weapon as your Shield.
Including during Blocking the cost savings.
Your active abilities, including slotted effects, however do not function

This is what I'd hoped from spellcrafting - and how Skyrim worked - a spell in one hand, weapon in the other.

imo the skill line should be added, with passives that lower cool down on pots(Think: Free hand, always able to grab stuff), a 'grapple' concept/ skill(can reach out and push/pull/punch, etc) and maybe even movement speed increases (can use free hand to vault over stuff, easier to roll dodge, etc)

Really think single handed combat style should be an option. It would be lower damage than 2 hand and dual, not as 'tanky' as shield, but would benefit from 'personal defense' and utility. just from having a free hand (better balance, higher crit/accuracy, quicker single attacks, much faster cool downs, etc)
