What has your success stories in terms of VMA loot been like? And who here has honestly gotten an inferno staff, and on apprproxiately which number of runs did it take?

I lost count after the 120's, and I still haven't seen a single destruction staff. Then again, I didn't receive my first restoration staff until the early 90's (sharpened), then second restoration staff until the late 90's (precise), and just recently got a defending 1. Lol. I have tons and tons of stamina-based Maelstrom weapons doe. In beautiful traits too. But destruction staves? They just won't drop.

Of all the "good" weapons that I just listed above, only one of them came from the final chest (Sharpened Inferno). Literally everything else came from the weeklies.

I hate vMA, and I don't really care for the place. I run it once on a character, and if I get a score that will stick for the weekly, I'm done with that character for that week. For a while, I was doing two runs a week to get two characters on, and at my peak, I had three on the boards. But even just two runs a week seemed like too many, so these days I'm doing just one run a week to get one character on the board.

Getting weapons through weeklies--not doing any runs more than what is necessary to get on the weekly--is slow (this is my haul after almost half a year), but it does have by far the best return for the effort, since every run effectively has a guaranteed weapon and a chance at two weapons. The rare occasions that I did an additional run on a character who has already landed on the weekly, I felt bad because I knew that the run was essentially a "wasted" run.

And as a bonus, I've also saved a ton of gold upgrade mats.

I bet those weeklies are from pre DB patch? Since DB I've never had a precise/sharpen from weekly lol its nirn mace powered bow or decisive healing staff

Personally:
Chest - 1 sharpen inferno, 1 sharpen dagger (All from pre DB)
Weekly - 1 sharpen axe, 1 Precise dagger, 1 precise bow (All from pre DB)

Got bow in all traits except infused, healing staff in all traits except precise or powered, 3-4 ice & shock staff in precise/nirn (but no sharpens)

Not really complaining since I just like to run them, so eventually I'll get the ones I want and extras for alts, not a big deal if I don't though.

Sharpened dagger on first clear and sharpened inferno on my 12th. I'm now 90+ runs in and have all weapons in precise and shaprened except a sharpened axe and battle axe and a precise resto. Got my 3rd sharpened inferno on Saturday

Edit: have never seen a lightning staff but I can live with that

Yes. The change in the weekly reward table in DB is one of the reasons why I pared my vMA runs down to just once a week to place only one character.

Preface: I love vMA. The challenge is beautiful. Some Trials are challenging, sure, but there's something about relying only on myself to achieve the best score I can... Plus it's just easier, I can do vMA whenever I feel like it. I don't have to gather a 12 man group, and then potentially experience the frustration of sub-par group mates.

Dunno how many completions I've got, but I only do it once a week on one character. It's getting easier, broke my record last run on my Stamina NB. 525k in like 54 min, nabbing my spot on the static NB board.

Hoping to someday get another Dagger or Axe with a good trait and a Sharpened Maul.

i have done it 6 time today and.........just garbage rings not a single

3 times yesterday 1 wep a charged 2h

and countless times before and best it got was a sharpened resto....... JUST GIVE ME MY GOD DAMN shap 2h.............................

Your post is insanity! :O !! 90 runs for a resto is absolutely crazy. Im purely grinding for the flame staff but this is sounding like a very very long grind atm.

I have honestly done about 20-25 runs and have:

1x Mace - Nirnhoned
2x Bow - Infused and Nirnhoned
4x Lightning Staff - Precise, Charged, Defending, Healing
2x Ice Staff - Defending, Healing
2x Resto staff - Defending, Charged

*I got a shield once too but that isnt really part of the maelstrom weapons and was in the same chest as the mace. Did have tri stat boost though.

Also got a maul in a random weekly rewards mail in... charged.

Can anyone shed any light on how the weekly rewards work and what day its actually on?

i got extremely lucky and got a sharpened maul on my third try. Ive only done six runs and in my sixth run i got another maul but it was infused. Im not really picky about the traits for the bow but i need it in sharpened, infused, or precise and i need a sharpened sword or battle axe then im done with vmsa. That place is not fun at all. I wish i had a set goal. At least next patch will guarantee a weapon at the final chest so that's an improvement. Now they just need to get rid of the useless traits that do not belong in end gear content to begin with in the first place like charge.

Yeah, see I have the worse "good luck" when it comes to VMA. Lol. I get really good stamina-based stuff, but not the magicka stuff I want. Like I have lots of precise and sharpened: Axes, bows, daggers, etc. All the stuff FOTM bandwagoners dream of. But, they don't do me any good. I mean yeah I have stamina toons, but I'm a magicka guy at heart.

I've got Ice sharp staff, precise lighting staff, Inferno Divisive staff (gives more ulti chance), 10x mael f in shield/sword combos.... so many maelstrom daggers,axes and restoration staff so far 4 precise restos and 1 sharpened... I also got a battle axe with inf on it and a bloody maul with defender trait on it...

I received one for my Stam DK which is a greatsword sharp but I need the maul sharp

! I remember I got the greatsword after like 15 runs and the inferno staff was at I believe 50+ runs.

Question is, why is charged on the maelstrom loot tables now? And as for me, all my good items came from weeklies, not from the last chest. (I have pretty much everything except the self-respect most players who avoid maelstrom arena have.)

Cant remember how many times i run this but i remeber that 1 time that i got sharp bow on last box and sharp maul on weekly on the same week and the moment i completed winterborn set and got ice staff from weekly i was like damn ! Eso rng god is forgiving sometimes.

On a side note I encountered a guy from my guild yesterday who admitted he had someone run his character through to get him on the leader board. He initially tried pretending he'd done it himself except we're not stupid and he had landed a 522k score on a stamsorc on his first ever clear EVER...AND HE WAS ONE OF THE WORST PLAYERS I'VE TRIED RUNNING WITH. He said he didn't know how many times he died and that it had taken 2 hours. Yes warning bells were sounding off for sure.
Once he admitted he had someone else do it he had to go. Before I could kick him he left the guild lol.
Question!
I know the name of the guy who ran it for him(he admitted it too, no shame!), is this reportable @ZOS_GinaBruno or @ZOS_JessicaFolsom ???

There is a lot of people doing that *** ***, do i report em for being noobs ? No because i dont care about that, and it dont touch my pleasure of playing.
