Unable to Start New Character

Yesterday, I purchased a 9th character slot, made a new character, and chose to enter the Wailing Prison.

And waited at a load screen for several minutes, until it timed out and dropped me to login screen. And that's all that happens anytime I load that character.

I tried again several times over the next hour, and tried again this morning, and still can't enter. Every other character loads fine.

Try deleting your new character and recreating it, I'm sorry I know it's a pain. If you have the same issue please submit a ticket to our support team.

Having to delete ones character is horrible,
but it is what it is, i guess.

So, I just did this. And decided to re-enter the Wailing Prison again, and the same result. Can't join, times out. I suppose I'll try skipping it, but I like to start completely fresh. And if it's not working… is it working for anyone?

Try to reproduce it, make a male Imperial DK on EP, see if you can start.

I did file a bug, 160611-001869

edit: Tested skipping, going to Bleakrock. Same result. 3rd time I've made this guy, I can just fly thru the character settings.

This is still a problem, @ZOS_DaryaK, can you see if the servers are still on? Do tickets ever get resolved? Can people actually make and play characters with the new character slots they pay real cash money for?

People can make and play characters they purchased slots for, so I have had your ticket escalated @kamimark.

I'm having similar problems and I just created this post:

I've also submited a ticket since 12/6, but I still haven't received any answer and the ticket is still unresolved

@Leviandro, what finally worked for me was removing all add-ons, restarting the client, and it took a long time but did connect. Then I was able to restore my add-ons after I got out into the main Wailing Prison area.

Hey Kamimark!

Thanks for replying.

Since I haven't been able to start the game even once, I have no add-ons installed or anything else for that matter. I only have a fresh installation of the game.

I'm still waiting for my ticket to be resolved. Almost 1+ week and still no answer

Any other idea on what to do maybe?

No, my best theory is memory was too low to start up. On my hardware, just killing add-ons was enough to get in. You might need to add RAM? Lowering video settings wouldn't hurt, either.

I have now a similar problem. PC. Win10 64bit.

I have had no login issues at all past year or so. But now, two hours ago, I created a new character and after that I can not enter the game with ANY of my characters.

I have:

1) restarted the game, restarted computer, repaired the client, tried 32bit and 64bit,
2) deleted my new char
3) deleted usersettings.txt, changed video quality to lowest, removed all addons
4) still broken
5) sent a bug report to zos, but now I'm afraid they wont answer to me either, ever

I'm quite speechless. How creating a new char can break my whole game? Is uninstall + clean reinstall my only choice? Please ZOS technical support, give me a solution.. There must be some other setting files that I could delete so those can be overwritten by next login attempt.. ?

Regarding to my post above ^

I got my game working after 10 new login attempts.

1) backup & delete same time usersettings.txt and all addons
2) login to game
3) close the game
4) overwrite usersettings.txt with your backuped one
5) start the game and login to your character.
then important:
6) copy back all your addons, but do not copy PCHAT. I isolated the problem to pchat addon which prevented my game to work
7) /reloadui

There might also be other addons out there which behaves similary, so if you have this same problem, try to find the addon which creates this problem.
