Wow .. people here should really stop stating the obvious and elitist him.
I find it sad that players who finished it with easy class/build combo's, think that anyone who don't finish them with hard ones is beneath them.
For the case, vMA is a joke for Magika NB, yet for Stamina NB its a nightmare, even with the best builds.
Stop assuming and learn facts.
Now for a truthful answer that won't bury you.
Yes, this content is just not for every class and every spec, for some its near impossible, so you might consider changing your build to fit it and do it easy mode like all the wannabes here, get it done and then change it back!:)
Ventured into Maelstrom Arena during the weekend on normal mode, as I have not done any of the veteran dungeons before. Got stuck on the same stage too. My problem was all the ice being destroyed. Made no difference how many trolls killed as the boss also destroys the ice with its club. Certainly became frustrating. Exited out of the dungeon yesterday before losing the plot completely.
All the stages beforehand were a breeze in comparison.

you don't want to use wreckingblow, it takes way too long to do sny damage. what I did om my stamplar was I ran in a square, corner to corner. you can use critrush on the ,inders but NEVER through the middle or you could rush over a mushroo, amd get killt. You can easilly kill them witj a charged poison injection, if you're unsure toss am arrow barrage on them.
minders are a top priority because 2 of them with that glitched out teleport can insta kill you, so burn one dowm fast. I weakem the other one with a poisom injection so he's easy to kill the sec the boss aint screaming.
i use the square [attern as this gives me easy access to ampoison pool. 2h amd bow is good choice here.
I dps the bosss using dots like carve amd poisom injection, it's slow until he's 30ish% health then it's game. it;s all about patience here. this strategy isn't fast at all but it gives ,e the highest successrate sofar. you can dodgeroll with bow fkr speed boost amd use stam/speed potions as well.
The first time I did Maelstrom I really didn't figure out the mechanic of the spider swarm and I just kept kiting around. Then I read the message that pops and it clicked! You have to run them to a pilon that's glowing and they will scatter away. The other spiders that come out will cover a pilon in webs, but you can clear that by throwing the fleshbomb that spawns when you kill the hoarvor on top of them (or if you kill the hoarvor near the pilon). If you keep that in mind, that stage is not that hard in Normal. I have not tried vet past stage 1 yet. I am of the same mind as the OP that there are enough sources of stress. I have been feeling the itch to go back and try again though.

I'm thinking your probably killing the minders at the giant argonian behemoth round. You need to let them stay alive and hide under the blue umbrellas they put up so you don't get killed by his roar.

The 60-70k spit is an enrage mechanic. It's on a timer and you re-set the time everytime you light up all the obelisks with the hourver bug.
The behemoth scream is interruptible. Either by bashing him, or a ranged interrupt like crushing shock for magicka users or venom arrow for stamina users.
You really should talk with people about strategy instead of killing yourself over game mechanics you don't understand.

Maybe I was killing off those minders and didn't realize they project the bubble when the behemoth boss screams. Oh, that is good to know for the 7th. Other than that, is that volatile poison blast that kills me. I have to do better to avoid it or get better at dodge rolling out of the way. So far, killing the minions in itself is not so hard. It is just the other variables that if you don't know how to use it, yes, it's quite difficult. Like taking out the troll first in the 5th ice stage, going to the glowing pilon to avoid the swarming spiders in the 6th, or going into the minder's bubble when the boss screams in the 7th. Oh, I can't wait what awaits in the 8th and final 9th stage. Lol!

Round 8 is actually quite easy.
Round 9, specifically the boss fight, you'll hate life again.

@Ep1kMalware, well.. I'm kind of stuck with this DK. I mean, I like it, but I just can't pick up and create another character, like to a stam NB or a sorc yet. I have put so much in getting this DK this far with all the CPs and whatnot built up. It's just so much work in building up a character, and I'm just at awe that so many people have so many different characters. I have the Igneous Shield, coagulating blood and hardened armor, so I believe I am ok defensively, and I can pack it punch with my wrecking blow that can dish out from 15-25k each hit. So, offensively, I can seem to run through those cronies and beasties like butter. I even ran through that Giant momma in the ice stage as well as the boss of the 6th stage more easily than before. I was even slicing through that behemoth boss of the 7th, until he does his screaming rage thing. So, you're right, it would have to come down to patience and learning the mechanic of the boss. My patience wore out after I kept getting blasted so many times by the volatile poison explosion in the first few rounds of the 7th. My DK is unfortunately slower to get away from those red circles. I don't have any streak or know how to gap closer, whatever this thing is. I'm going to have to sit back with a 12 pack and watch Pink Floyd's The Wall for a few days so I can de-stress a bit and think about maybe going back for another try later. Lol! Thank you for the tip, though.
It really is not that difficult once you learn the mechanics and counters. The right build and a timely rolldodge goes a long long way aswell. I completed it with just one death with a strictly PvP build nightblade with 15k health... How? Dodge right and take no damage at all or keep it to a minimum. Needless to say, doing it on a magicka class was a breeze all together, both my Sorcerer and Templar had no struggles at all, just shield up during a hard hitting attack and keep them HoT's going.
Trying to attempt it on DK next, but as it stands his build is a bit behind.
I am in no way a PvE expert, but this comparatively to 1 vs X daily in PvP is a cakewalk, a braindead mob is still a braindead mob no matter how hard it hits, it's all about memorizing mechanics, nothing else xD

I guess that troll primes the ice pad so that the giant momma breaks it quicker. This time, I kept chasing and taking out that troll first.. fairly quickly with a blow or two with my wrecking blow. The giant boss did busted up two pads, but it seems not as quick as the last time I was in because the last time I didn't go after the troll. I had just kept focused on the giant. This time, at the last pad, I saved my ultimate and threw out my standard might and fried that giant momma before she got the chance to break that third pad we were on.

The above is your problem (and before the trolls come, I know he beat Frozen Blood and is on Argonian Brute)
You lack a fundamental understanding of the mechanics of the arena. Your assessment of the round 5 mechanics is completely wrong.
I am not saying this to be a jerk nor to tell you how leet I am. I say this in hopes that you will save your sanity, and more importantly your blood pressure, by taking the time to really read about and study the mechanics. The Argonian Brute round has a number of mechanics that will destroy you every single time until you understand how all of them work. You need to combine good mechanics management with excellent situational awareness to beat that stage.
People in this thread have given you good tips, but I implore you to go out and read/study detailed explanations of this round and all others. You will get better and better from practice the more you run it. In fact, after completing it a few times, you will look back and wonder why it gave you so much trouble!
Edit: comma

Key factors:
- Practice, practice, practice.
- Invest time for practice and learning.
- Get the right build and set up: damage, self heals (damage to heal or heal over time), AOE.
- Memorize mob waves for each round. When to block, roll dodge, which kind of red circle hurt the most!
- Don't get too low on resources.
- Always keep stage mechanics on the top of your mind.
- Constant movement, don't stay still. There's a reason this arena is about the "Barons Who move like this"

So if you get caught outside of the bubble what I did was crit rushed the shield dude (actually it was the 1 handed shield gap closer on my templer). If you haven't touched the dude he should be able to survive that hit. And if he dies you need to interrupt the boss. Yep that sucks but survival is the key.
Make sure you keep an eye out for the poison spawn chick and kill her ASAP (gap closer is a must unless you have range). Keep checking to make sure you haven't been poisoned and if so then get to the green circle pronto. This one mechanic was the one that killed me the most. It's a pain in the ass but I now know to keep checking to make sure. Once you done this one enough it becomes MUCH easier as the boss isn't all that tough.

Have you even done vet??? Interrupting the enrage mechanic turns it's every hit into an instakill. On vet you must be in the bubble and attack it without interrupts.
